Having given it a good looking over (and quickly adopting it as the default map), here are a few suggestions from Black Brains: [LIST] [*]Buttons for the elevator in the big building [*]A larger beach area (maybe a few rocks, more water and deeper) [*]The interior for the mall [*]Gates to back yards for houses [/LIST] Two of our favourite areas on townsend were the beach and the mall, so it would be great to see them improved.
downloading now looks like a good map
Remove the "cling" sounds. They make my ears bleed and give me headache. Buttons for elevators would be nice also and for the love of god fix the lighting. I'm seeing light that has no source, in a tunnel that should be dark. If you fix these problems then this map is gonna be great. Now it has potential to be great but fails for the reasons I've mentioned.

This map is unoptimize. It is laggy as shit. I love it, but damn, if you build something in one area, All the people who is around you Crashes and if another person is like in the city, They don't crash.

The map is decent overall but there are some issues with the fit and finish. The trains are the most glaring issue. Where the tunnels turn they are fairly sloppy. No tracks on the ground, the tunnel itself is just a square space rather than a curve, there are brushes protruding into it. The main train clips into things as it twists and turns, also you need to go to the "flags" and set it to HL1 train because the player keeps shifting around inside. There are also a number of issues where there's a spot here and there with an anomalous brush. Like the stairs at the train station in the suburbs have a missing piece of floor where you can see through the level. So the train needs a bit of editing, repositioned path_tracks and needs to be set to "HL1 train". The tunnels need to be redone with proper curved turns. Some minor brushes here and there need cleaning up. Elevator in the skyscraper needs some form of player control. And there need to be more buildings in downtown with interiors.

Absolutely brilliant work on this map. Everything looks top-notch, and all of the different areas look they would make for some good RP, and posing spots for videos. After seeing the video you made of the map, I can't wait to download and try it out. :buddy:
Few notable issues I noticed straight away. [list=] [*]This map isn't optimized. If it were, it wouldn't have any clipping issues. [*]Soundscapes are terrible. I'm not supposed to hear an elevator bell in a when I'm not even in the building (there's more as well). [*]Suffered a dodgy horizon at the beach. [*]Tunnels are terrible. [*]Obvious texture mismatching [/list] If you can at least fix those above issues, the map will seem remotely decent.
Few things i noticed Sure is copy pasta..please dont copy paste everything from your old map and slam it into a new map (If you do why not rename it townshead_v3) That fucking clinging noise makes me want to burn the city to the ground if i lived in it. The elevator buttons should be replaced with something better. Map texture miss matching. Make a real mall..i was so happy to see it but then got sad when i found out it was nothing...
Hell, everyones so damn critical of this map. I think its pretty good. It lags for me, but my computer was built in the dark ages so thats normal. There are some weird things, but overall okay. Also remember people, ITS VERSION 1. Give the creator some time to fix it before laughing it out of the room.

I'm playing this map with an integrated display card fine. It's probably your end.
This map better be used for that OCRP, it would be great, but i don't know if the OCRP team have their own map coming or not...

Yes it is version 1 - but how will the developer make a version 2 if he does not know what to improve? This is where this thread comes in. So please, don't think everyone is bashing his map by offering constructive criticism; they aren't, but they sure will help in fixing the bugs that this map has. This map is okay, but there are several things that could be improved: The mall. There is none. There is a small area next to a sign that says "mall" that has a shop next to it, but no actual mall. The mall is a locked door. Is this going to be present in v2? It looks that way, being as you advertised the mall with a large sign and made it look pretty damn attractive. The beach. It is much too small, and not deep enough. If you choose the right car, you can actually drive in it. I suggest importing the one from townsend, because I noticed that you have an invisible wall at one point in the water which is quite jarring if you swim (or crash) into it. Townsend had an actual wall of sorts. You could see why you were blocked from going further. Also, change the texture of the water back to what it was in townsend, because this one looks a wee bit too bright. The tunnels. I'm afraid I don't like them all that much. I mean, I like the tunnels being there, but I don't like the design of them. When you drive through them, you can see seams. Loads of little white flashes coming towards me. Creepy. The lighting in the tunnels isn't that good; there is one where the light from the light_environment is shining into the tunnel, but there is nowhere for it to come from. And try to make them a little more curved. They look like boxes to me. Some people also complained that they are too long. I am not so sure about that, but perhaps that is something to keep in mind. The hotel. While the rooms are nice and all, there is one that is unfinished. It's actually there, just noclip through the door that won't open and look. There is a ceiling and a floor. Please finish this. The lifts. They are quite annoying. The "DOOONG" sound they make every so often is rather pointless and irritating, as you can hear it from a long, long way away. Make the distance the sound travels much shorter and this problem can be avoided. And change the sound it makes. Perhaps the HL1 "PIING" noise? Many people on Black-Brains have voiced dissatisfaction at their automated and completely random nature. It's nice what you were trying to do, but it is better to just keep it simple. Have a lift with normal buttons, one at the top and one at the bottom to call the lift, and one inside to go up or down. Simples. *squeak* The train. Oh yes, it kicks a lot of ass. It is one of few maps that has a train that will take you anywhere you need to go, while giving you some of the best shots of the scenery there is. But it is flawed in some way. Firstly, it isn't frequent enough. It takes ages for it to arrive. The train needs to go faster. Or perhaps it could be split into two different services? You know, one for X destination and one for Y destination. I forget where the train actually goes, but I think one stop is next to the studios. I don't think there is a train station in the beach, so perhaps this could be implemented? The beach was one of the locations the players really wanted to get to, but couldn't. Also, you can phys the train. This isn't a major problem for my server, because only a select few have physguns (who really needs them in an RP server?), but for other servers, this may prove to be quite a large problem. Sometimes this can even cause GMod to crash. Make it unphysable. I very much anticipate a v2 of this map. You have proven yourself a talented mapper - townsend and cityway are testament to this - and with these bugs and niggles squashed, this could be the next evocity. Well, maybe not, but you get the idea. ;)

It's probably your end.[/QUOTE] By clipping issues, I mean that textures overlap, nodraw hasn't been correctly used etc. No it isn't optimized because issues like this exist. Sure, it runs smooth, but by a maps definition, it is not optimized.
