This is bloody amazing. I'm heavily considering to use this for an RP server.
One question though: Is there any kind of vehicle that works well on the rails?
Those tracks are PHX gauge.
The railroad is kinda short and I cant see half of the tree's textures. Could you fix these in the next version (if you decide to make a 2nd version)
Those trees are default episode 2, exept the small bush and tall pines.
Those tracks are PHX gauge.
Probably a very dumb question, but what's PHX gauge again?
Well mapping is fucking easy as shit....
The hard part is coming up with brilliant ideas as this, and having fucking PATIENCE. Imagine how long it took him to make this :S I'm a pretty good mapper but I'd never have the patience to do something like this without eventually giving up, lol.
Part of level design is having patience and bringing your ideas to (virtual) reality.
Probably a very dumb question, but what's PHX gauge again?
I think it means that the train wheel models from the PHX model pack will fit on the rails correctly, thus you can make your own train carts that will ride on the rails.
I'm also missing some tree textures. Yes, I have ep2 and I've already installed both the map and texture fix twice.
At least he can actually finish a map without having to release a super buggy super laggy alpha.
Thanks for trying to provoke me when I just stated the facts.
Can I please get a detailed description about how i can fix my missing treetextures? I Have seen many answers, but no one have said "Thanks! This works!".
Please help. Beautiful map, but missing textures are ruining my gameplay ;(

same. the tree model has a texture and works fine in other maps but this doesnt.
Someone who managed to get trees to work, should tell us how to fix them or what is wrong with them.
good
This should fix:

with the tree textures fixed, i gave you the 80th mapping king.
Cheers Mate!
but i was never really on this side... cheers.
Beautiful map with thousands of small bugs and bad optimization. Nothing new from oskutin.
Also, those who rate me dumb: too bad I'm right on this one.
Stop being a dumbass prick, especially when you act like a jealous 4 year old.
Other than than that bullshit, Oskutin the map looks great. Good work and nice for the quick fixes, Mapping King for you.

He proved a fact for you too so go be provoked someplace else.

I'm jealous? No. Why should I even be?
I don't understand what is wrong with you people. Oskutin is not a god. He makes mistakes. Everybody does. I do. Try to realize that. What is the problem here is that those bugs and optimizing could've been easily fixed, but oskutin didn't do much about them.
Try to prove me wrong on my points: sadly you can't. The map has a lot of bugs and it is unoptimized. You can test it yourself typing mat_wireframe 1 to the console ingame. Too much is rendered. There is not a single prop with fading distance set in the map, as stated by oskutin himself when I asked about it. So that means even the smallest props are drawn all the time when they shouldn't be. Other optimizing techniques like hint textures and occluders and areaportals aren't used as much as they should've been, for example in that underground corridor big parts of the village are rendered even behind the exit.
And some of you seem to 1. either fail to realize that this map has it's flaws which should be fixed or 2. fail to notice that I said that the map is beautiful thus stating I mainly like the appearance of the map, but loathe the technical work.
Also, what comes to alpha version of my map (Suncity), Sgt. Sgt. is wrong or he hasn't played the map at all. It runs fine on my computer. Yes, it has some bugs, but those were things I knew about and tried to fix but the compiling failed (thanks VALVe). Also, it wasn't released as a playable map. It was released as a showcase of my work for those who where interested in testing it.
Hello oskutin, i was wondering if i would add a "Non-photoshopped" picture.
but anyways, here it is.

Sorry for the huge size =P ....
What's the average framerate on this map?
I'm jealous? No. Why should I even be?
Maybe because you've randomly decided to have a massive personal attack on oskutin and are using it for your own agenda, and you don't want people to talk about oskutin however they want because only you are right. You went straight in for the kill, saying it's beautiful at this point is fucking bullshit. Talk about faux pas. Oh, and this isn't the first time.
What's the average framerate on this map?
30-40 fps.
What's the average framerate on this map?
On what, an i7 or my dusty Compaq Presario 1640 from 1997?

I love how you bash Sgt Sgt for no apparent reason at all. Don't be butthurt because you know what he said is very true.

Oskutin's map have always been beautiful. Of course he has improved, a lot actually, but only the appearance of the maps has improved. Optimization hasn't much. This map is nearly as laggy as the two previous maps, which is not a surprise because they all share the same setting. While I realize that the forest maps are hard to optimize, a lot of work could be done. I even asked oskutin to sent the map file to me before the release, so I could add fading distances etc. but he refused.
What I'm saying is basically that I want to help, because it would be nice to play the maps with better FPS and less other bugs, mostly visual. I'm a bit perfectionist, yes.
You don't know the back story behind this, so you're a bit wrong person to judge. Basically what WOT said:
That comment in oskutin's thread was basically friendly fire, they are really good friends and it was not to be taken seriously.
What he said is only partially true and he probably just said it to provoke me.
By the way Jukka, sorry for bashing you and judging you, especially in your own thread.
More on-topic, what's with the water turning into glowing lava on impact?
Your own custom splash decal?
Part of level design is having patience and bringing your ideas to (virtual) reality.
Yeah thats what I said ;-)
But I do agree, its hard to have a perfect idea in your head and remember all the apsects in it to put into hammer. And even if its possible to do in hammer, lol.
What he said is only partially true and he probably just said it to provoke me.
I did not say it to provoke you.
Posting to state that the newest tree fix has fixed the missing texture problem.
