Content wooo. I'm sure most of you can guess what game this is based off :v: [img_thumb]http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs566.ash2/148891_172767399415217_100000458749809_489251_986637_n.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1222.snc4/155490_172767312748559_100000458749809_489244_4641689_n.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1358.snc4/163077_172767282748562_100000458749809_489243_1233998_n.jpg[/img_thumb] Yes I am aware of the terrible lighting etc, just a wip after all.
It looks great, but my only gripe is how the barricade perfectly fits into a round hole. If there's more space on the other side then disregard what I just said.

The lighting is too bright and pretty bland, but it looks good. Nice displacements. [editline]2nd December 2010[/editline]
I don't think 3kliks is all that bad. Sure he hollows his skybox, clips blocks sometimes, and doesn't use nodraw much, he has a very entertaining and easy-to-follow tutorials for beginners. And he knows his faults, if you take the time to watch all his tutorials he does say that hollowing is bad, but he uses it because it's foolproof. Basically for new mappers, he simplifies it and lets them learn optimization later. I learned a lot from him. Also I don't know if everyone already does this, but I've found that using dev "generic" textures for scaling and whatnot works great. Then after you have the scales down, texture the map normally. Finally go to the texture browser, go to replace, and replace all the dev textures that you don't see anymore with Nodraw.
He's a good teacher, but he has bad methods. Regardless, I, and most of the facepunch mapping community, hate him because he's a massive fucking douche and the only times he comes to facepunch (he told me this via PM) is to troll.
:soundscissorsmake:
Just checking the thread with my moms iPad. :v: I feel so young and edgy. Not really.
The lighting is too bright and pretty bland, but it looks good. Nice displacements.
Any idea what I could do about the bland lightning? I've already fixed the brightness.
Joschach, is it Metro2033?
Any idea what I could do about the bland lightning? I've already fixed the brightness.
Make it slightly yellow and throw in some colour correction. VERY lightly yellow.
I'm still working on my underground map. I'll post pictures when I'm near completion.
Wow, actual content! I was about to give up hope for a while there. Anyways, there's a really nice set of photos on Flickr of the Sonnenberg Tunnel which doubled as the world's largest fallout shelter. It might be a really good source of inspiration for the people that are working on bunkers/fallout shelters: Go to the right in the photostream Some notable pictures: Filter room Water supply Emergency water tanks A clock. The reason I'm posting this is because of the red light in the corner. It would turn on during the day, and turn off at night. That could be a really cool detail if someone could pull it off. An operating theater. That's how big this place was, it even had a hospital. The main meeting room It's pretty much the real life equivalent of the vaults in Fallout, except minus the robots, the all-metal hallways, and the social experiments.
Holly shi i thought those were from a map LMAO then i read on and they are real pics haha
hi wer u liv wanna met up and hav sex? I should probably get started on this map sometime soon. I just haven't found time for it yet, but I'll get on it now.
Tha hell man? LMAO aren't we abit forward on the thread that has nothing to do with gender lol
Kinda early image: Having to calculate angle of spin when hit by a blast wave and thus where the pillar needs to be is fun...
The light spot on the floor seems far too big for such a narrow light beam.
The light spot on the floor seems far too big for such a narrow light beam.
Good point. It's because i'm using a spotlight to create the beam, and a light entity between the light_spot and floor to illuminate the area.
I usually use a env_sprite for the main glow, a point_spotlight for the beam effect, a light_spot for the spot underneath, and a normal light at very low illuminance to help spread the light. Oh, and a func_dustmotes where necessary.

The lava flowing down looks like a bird :v:

And yeah SomeFaggot it is :v:
That is so fucking hot. I really like your lighting, but it looks a little strange in the last picture coming out of the train doors.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/36hGy.jpg[/img_thumb]
Looks like something from Oblivion :v:
Too bad its only Source SDK that is allowed. right? the rules didnt say anything about any other mapping tools/game engines. but since it said that all source games may be used. then i take it for granted that its only Source SDK.

You can safely assume, this thread being in a Source mapping section, that this thread is, in fact, for a competition involving Source mapping.
This is a Source mapping section. We have a udk thread in here somewhere. But yes, it is safe to assume that we will only be making this in source. It keeps it fair.
aah alright :v: thx soo.. you guys know where this UDK section is, if i may ask?
aah alright :v: thx soo.. you guys know where this UDK section is, if i may ask?
It's not a section. It's a thread.
And here it is: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/961675-The-Facepunch-UDK-Map-Pimpage-WIP-Thread-V1 No one has posted for a while though.
Alright Thanks a lot  will try to keep that thread updated with my UDK skills
Pretty cool content you guys are bringing, keep it up please.

Do you have any non top down screen shots of that? It looks awesome as it is but I think a different angle might do it more justice.
