I'm working with TangoGorila Also, is this about eye candy, or can actual playability come into play here.
I think both are great, but eyecandy is where its at. Playability is a bonus.
Something I made today, just a little taste of where I am going with mine. If I decide to keep going this way.
I'll enter, but I'm not very good at mapping, so I'll probably come up with a crappy entry :saddowns: [editline]18th November 2010[/editline] Also, does Color Correction help as much as they say it does?
More to my underground base/bunker. Still need tone down the point_spotlights though.

What is the smaller room's purpose, an entrance? if it is meant for vehicles you could add a both and spike strips or barricading fence, but if for pedestrians then a decontaminating mechanism
The small room is the entrance, the concrete floor is a road which will later curve round. Like so..
Updates; Toned the lights down.
Seems a little blocky doesn't it?
Now that I think about it, there should be a catwalk along with wiring and pipes.
I don't think it's blocky, but you have the same (I think) brush based crate all over the shop. Get some more props in there.
Will do.
I don't think it's blocky, but you have the same (I think) brush based crate all over the shop. Get some more props in there.
I believe they are CS:S models.
Nope, Brushes with crate texture. [editline]18th November 2010[/editline] There basicly place holders for custom ones.
Nope, Brushes with crate texture. It looks godawful in most maps. As a placeholder it is understandable, but in a final release like I have seen it? Ughh. Map looks okay so far though. If I had some decent cave/ rock textures I would probably be more encouraged to try something for this, but I don't have any good ones. I could always just practice making displacements mind you, I need it.
If you're looking to make a more natural, large, expansive cave, as well as some smaller ones, i've put up some photos I took at the Cave in the OP's banner and various other caves in that area for reference. Find them http://www.momentsfrommymind.co.uk/images/stuff/caves/ <- there. Sorry they aren't in a gallery format, if you want I can put them into a easier to use gallery. If you are doing this natural look for underground stuff, you gotta add lots of small details, it's what really makes a difference.
I will try but no promises.

Progress is progress. [img_thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/13781308/gm_subbase0002.jpg[/img_thumb]
There seems to be a lack of shadows, but the layout looks really nice.
I agree with Pyth, lighting needs work, could use some colorcorrection after you're done with it.
The lighting is temporary. I just have that lighting so that it isn't fullbright.
I see.
Hawx; your map reminds me a little of the lunar base in the movie "Moon". Look awesome.
I'm thinking of joining this. Not really sure what I'm thinking of doing. Thought about a section of the London Underground, but I'm not sure.
Snippity snip snap. Sorry bout that. :smith:
A horror theme would be good to work on methinks.
I'm thinking of joining this. Not really sure what I'm thinking of doing. The tilework in certain stations looks like it'd be a nightmare to recreate and align though (if you want to recreate it exactly that is).
Expect something fucking amazing from me and sweetswifter, we'll have screenshots ready by next week
