[QUOTE=IronPhoenix;27901645]We have the twin towers in our town. Big grey ugly hateful blocks of pure dullness. They sway in the wind. I went there for my work experience, it was like being on a ship in rough seas. They radiate hate at the vibrant world that surrounds them and deadens it.[/QUOTE]
Manchester is a boring as fuck city with the citadel in the middle.
please something creative like out of this world. i hate being restricted to something so specific.
[editline]6th February 2011[/editline]
not only me, but a BUNCH of mappers do.
Freestyle?
no. not freestyle either. it has to be something that makes mappers restricted but at the same time free to play around.
This is a tough thing to decide on...

2048*3?
somebody said it last page. "something out of this world" is the best idea in my opinion. contestants can play around with architecture, abstract stuff, environments, landscapes, they can pretty much do whatever they want, yet it can't resemble anything from this planet. another great idea is "grand". make something of colossal proportions like a stadium, or a huge building, or some alien structure or whatever.
ideas like these are great and the results can come out amazingly different from eachother. crazy/creative stuff like my entry for this contest is what people want to see, they want different things.
I'm fond of "out of this world"
we have a month to decide anyway, no rush.

This is such bullshit, you have England's longest brick bridge and a stunning downtown
[editline]6th February 2011[/editline]
The center of my town is literally a McDonalds and a bank

Awesome, round trips from the bank to McDonalds, then repeat.

Bah Okay, where I live, Norwich in the UK :v:
A coastline for the next contest would be alright. They can look very nice at times, and here in Portsmouth you get the odd battleship cruising past. :buddy:

Yeah, the sea air is nice.
When I went aboard that ship, we were allowed onto the command deck. This was on a school trip years ago, mind. Best bit was we were allowed to use the ships intercom, everyone a block away from the ship could hear it. Hmm...I might map a ship sometime.
Concentrate on the combine architecture :buddy:
I have good idea for the next contest.
All what i can spoiler is: the contest doesn't restrict architechtural style.

That's the first time I've been called nice in a long time, much love :3:
That was a pretty fun competition in the long run, despite the unfinished results and stuff. Congrats MenteR, that was a pretty damn awesome entry.
Also, great job xeonmuffin, can't believe we ended up as a tie in the end. I thought you were going to blow me out of the water at one stage when lots of votes flooded in for you, but I guess I had my supporters out there.
GG everyone that entered.
Wow joint second?
:geno:
Woo...5 votes...
Up yours fluorescent haters!
Yeah, you...tell...them?
So are the maps going to be available to download? Only asking because I've never took part in a competiton before.

Basic fluorescent white lights got 5 votes, big glowing pool of lava got 23. Not saying that's why I got more votes, but I do suggest you look into some abstract/alternative sources of lighting.
