Thats a horrible conglomeration of old textures and HL2 barrels, that style does not work at all. not once have I seen those colours used together in DOOM. [editline]04:56PM[/editline] Even what the walls are made out of has no logic to it, an exposed nest of pipes? [editline]04:56PM[/editline] and a lot of it at that.
Actually they are all custom textures from a sci fi pack i picked up a while ago. And i selected those textures as being similar to what is used in doom. Notice, the barrel to one side, the blue floor, and the computer screens at the far end. Two corridors are either side, with lights embedded in the walls next to the openings. The walls are a low res mess of pipework. The indented floor was my own variation on the theme, something i saw in fallout 3 and loved. Also notice that the ceiling is made of metal brick like shapes, again copied in. The haz striped could use a bit of dirtying up, but it was made as an example. The rusty floor is also an addition of mine, mainly because the floor needed a bit of texture variation, otherwise it would be bit flat, and oddly open. Also added a shitload more barrels to add a bit of clutter. It could do with a few stains on the floor and some more computery stuff along the walls. The stairs are also an interpretation, mainly because the max jump height is 16 units, and the height of the corridors is 32. Any lower and they wouldn't have fitted with the architecture of the building. Thus the stairs. The screenshot corridor is also narrower. That, i must admit, is poor spacial awareness on my part.

Yes that's E1M2 (aka Episode 1 Mission 2, that's how levels in Doom 1 were identified) and you couldn't walk in the "control panel places"
IronPhoenix is generally right, get over it, he's a very intelligent guy who helps alot of people here, what you guys haven't realised is that he's mainly arguing with you just to get a reaction, he enjoys it.
Maybe if you upped the levels to Source standard of graphics.
I remember someone ported Construct to Doom.
I remember someone ported Construct to Doom.
I thought they ported it to Quake, or is this a separate event?
I remember someone ported Construct to Doom.
How? Unless the buildings didnt have an accessible roof.
Let me guess...this is another "nostalgia" map which is usually made as an excuse for not being able to map well in source.
Im guessing your the kind of person i could kill and not loose a second's sleep over.
Im guessing your the kind of person i could kill and not loose a second's sleep over.
Tough guy :v: [editline]01:52PM[/editline] Oh and you're late... SP was already converted...
Im guessing your the kind of person i could kill and not loose a second's sleep over.
In your dreams. As someone who fights with a modified version of karate, owns several knives, and torches which are essentially maces, and pretty much no self-presevation, you would have an immense amount of trouble. Although it's nice to think someone is willing to try. Against the berserker, there is no defence.

Oddly enough, it's the quiet ones that know how to make thermite.
Indeed
Indeed
I wonder if you could find a good recipe for Amitol on there too... Seriously...don't think for a minute that someone geeky couldn't defend themselves. Otherwise you are falling into the same category of all the people that usually end up with a kid at the age of 16. Anyway...how did we get onto recipes of explosives and the theories of idiots from an amicable discussion about doom to source.
I have no idea.
Ok...i'll contribute with this: [img_thumb]http://i56.tinypic.com/4kgs39.jpg[/img_thumb] Based off the architecture of doom. Oddly enough this thread inspired me a bit.
Honestly, that looks terrible. The retro style of the original map was much more appealing.
A quick search turned up with this

Major flame war. I'm tempted to just quit the project cos not enough people have BOTHERED TO READ WHAT I SAID. The screenshot I showed is preliminary work. I want to get the level fixed and textured as it was originally before I try to "upgrade" anything so I can be sure that it's all laid out correctly. Then I'll put in some higher res textures and other improvements.

I'm looking forward to that, :v:

I'm honestly not sure if the OP or IronPhoenix is right here, as I have never tried Doom before. But instead of jumping to either side, I'll give my neutral opinion. Its understandable that it must look blocky like that to resemble the original Doom maps. But I think it could be the textures that are letting you down, and you may want to add more...detail. Could be anything, decals perhaps. But that's what I think. :v: Either way, try and make the textures look a bit better, even if they are the originals.
this is lol
Ahh yes. I broke someones nose because they underestimated me. Fun times.
against the beserker thier is no defence? what are you, 11 years old?
Hurr durr
Makes me wonder, why 21 people think you are dumb and theres a bunch of people agreeing in op's post
against the beserker thier is no defence? what are you, 11 years old?
He means: "Don't judge a book by its cover". But how did you lot get onto the subject of fighting? :sigh:
Makes me wonder, why 21 people think you are dumb and theres a bunch of people agreeing in op's post
I used to have 500 odd agrees on my record, as well as a shitton of usefuls. Alas, they, along with the 200 odd disagrees (all from idiot mappers who had problems hollowing out their skybox before releasing the map) went with the big rating purge of last year...year before...something like that. Basically, i am a bastard gold member who thinks he is better than everyone because he knows how to rig complex i/o systems in source and stuff. I also have strong views about wow and it's corruption of social gaming (if it's social gaming, why are their quest givers) and also people who port games to source without improving anything. I think that sums it up. Oh...and i believe that people who own guns are wusses.
Pwnage Message
*Likes This* *Thumbs Up* *Pokes* In all seriousness, I believe most every post you have posted on this thread should make the person that you are referring the message to say to themselves that they have just been owned. If you had a pet good-sir, it would be a Pwny.
