I love how the OP barely starts a thread just to really get the idea out there and before he even starts adding content the decision is made that his idea is shit and he should give up. I think you should make maps for cooler people. These guys just want to shit on you. Looks good though.

Instead of remaking the old maps, why not make a completely new map but using basic Doom textures? That way, you aren't restricted by the Doom maps inability to have rooms over rooms, aswell as enabling alot of awesome details which Doom wouldn't support. A nice big Doom rp map would be cool.

For instance, you can't have a floor above another floor, and you can't have any floors or ceilings that slope.

Yes but the map wouldn't be bound by those, so we can have doom maps with rooms obtop if rooms, bridges etc. As long as it looks like Doom, with the textures and square doors and such, I don't really see a problem. I wish I could map, I'd give it a go.

If you add bridges or slopes, then it isn't really a Doom map then.
