Or if you've played sam & max thats also how it works.. in some areas of sam & max it works like this i mean.
Play the animation and record it with software? Convert the frames into an animated vtf?
Wow I didn't think this would be such a hard concept for people to understand.
It's as if nobody has ever played the First Resident Evil Games, what the hell...
I made a map that is non-interactive a while back. I guess it can be made into a background map.

I'm pretty sure he does not want normal levels, but only rendered levels.

Must have never played or heard of pre-rendered.
I am extremely surprised how you lot are so confused by this. As JLea said, it is not a hard concept to grab at all. A few of you had ideas that could work with a bit of effort too.
I didn't understand what you were trying to do until I saw the resident evil video. It would be hard to do and probably be really hard to move around.

It wouldn't be hard if you are used to the same movement in Resident Evil.
If you change camera view while moving the character, then your character will still move in that direction you are walking and can be easily rotated around..
I think the idea is good, But quality suck's when it's put into source.

The only thing that works, is to turn of texture smoothing.
If you managed to do this with some sort of horror mod, I would nostalgia all over my keyboard from when I used to play resident evil on the Playstation as a little kid.
