I started work on a map for it and I installed the gamemode etc but I can't spawn any of the gamemode-specific entities. Is there something else I need to do?

open the VMF for the test map i made, it's in the OP. It has all the entities. you can copy paste them into your map.
There's also a weapon you can use to spawn stuff ingame if you wanna mess around with it.

You should write a .fgd for your gamemode.
there's only like 6 or 7 entities... all of which are pretty simple to use. the only entity that uses keyvalues is the radiation entity. Just open the example VMF, it's pretty easy.
Done some progress on my map, about to start on the skybox and stuff, got the displacements done. Taken a pic and added some stuff to show where I plan to add radiation/bases. I named the map "The Lonely Road" (For obvious reasons)

to be honest i really doubt that i have the time to finish my map, so anyone who wants to use parts from my VMF can feel free to. I've already got a good start on the army warehouse base, as well as the exodus science bunker.
Oh man, I may have to make a map for this, like I did for ReDead. (Even though it was pretty shitty map, but I was a noob then.)

I'm assuming that you are no-where near done on that, and have yet to add any major structures besides what you've shown and talked about. Need a few shanty towns here and there, a bunker or two (that factions can take over), and a gas station.

Yeah I'm not done at all. That pic is still slightly outdated, I moved the sun a little and I've almost done the bunker right now.

Yep. But anyway, from my picture you saw how big I made mine. Well, that was a mistake. Waited an hour for it to compile, got bored and cancled it. Besides, I hate waiting like that inbetween tests. :P
My map is almost done now, the bases are finished I just need to add the details to the wasteland.
Try retro fitting this game mode to maps that already exist. If I could make some suggestions from garrysmod.org, I'd say these maps could be tinkered around with a little to be useful and fun.
