I'm thinking of creating a metro/subway styled map. No sky, and since it's all underground, would there be a way to disable the day/night system without screwing with the lua code?
I think I'm finished with the Exodus bunker of TheLonelyRoad V2. I did rush v1, the main reason of the lack of high quality. As you will see by the video I am spending much more time and effort on this one. it still has some bugs to fix, maybe some lighting changes, but I like it so far. Please tell me what you think.

How would they get a big bunker thing?
The textures on the pillars outside are wrongly placed.
There's a random drain on the wall.
The button texture should only be used for tests.
There's loads of random rooms with no purpose.
The lighting needs work.
There's a blood overlay under a static bed.
The music screamed at me when it started and I had my speakers up full.
Other than that, it looks good.
The button was for testing. Though I can't find a good button for it, any idea where to get one? The blood is gone now, I quite like the drain though, I think I'll keep it. Lighting is not yet finished as I said, and the rooms are for spawns (I thought that was obvious? 0_o) I'll take a look at the textures on those pillars though. Thanks for the feedback.

Fixed the pillar textures, not sure how I missed that.
Whether you like a feature is irrelevant, it's illogical.
You don't have to remove it, just move it.
Any ideas where I should move it?
I also made the lights in the main corridor wider so that small parts of the corridor no longer turn up pitch black, I also removed one of the trading points and replaced it with a locker room.
Compiling my map without any bases on it...

Time for a beta version of my map. There are a couple of missing textures that I've tried to pack in and can't for the life of me figure out why they still remain missing.
A few more little structures dotted around now but still not enough of them so I'm looking for suggestions on things to fix or add.
It's pretty huge (190mb) because of the amount of custom content I've packed into it.
I recommend removing daycycle.lua from the gamemode's folder if the map looks crap (specifically the sky and lighting) compared to the screenshots.

Is there any way for the map to know what time of day it is?
To clarify, if I want to add light and things, is there a way I can I make it so they would automatically turn on at night and turn off during the day?

BUUUUUG! The wind that's supposed to blow the dust also pushes all the loot (and other small objects) away. The majority of which end up here. :P

Yeah. I noticed that whenever I'd do a headhunt mission. It would most likely end up in the hills at the edge of the map where you have to noclip to get at it.

Update on V2 of the lonely road, I've started on the NMA base. It's a derelict army base. I decided to go with something that involves more than just a warehouse because destroyed building and rubble are always fun and cool. Any suggestions for Bandoliers base? I am stumped for that one.
The Bandoliers are sort-of criminals, so I say a place with stuff worth money like a fuel station(Gas), a restaurant(Foods). And they ''reinforced'' the location with metal plating and probably some big outlook on top. All in a perfect ''Function over looks'' style.

This sounds pretty good. The design behind the current version of Lonely Road was flawed in so many ways. Players could camp the bandoliers with a sniper rifle, and they couldn't get out of their base because there was no cover, and the lift was such a heavy bottleneck.
But the new version looks amazing. I've only seen the new Exodus base, and that looks really promising. Keep up the good work!
And yeah, I'm trying to make an underground metro-style map, but I'm pretty new at mapping, so it'll probably take ages.

Thanks a lot :haw: I just hope it shows TheLonelyRoad V1 is not what I can really do. I'm much better than that, I just rushed my arse off. I'll be making everything this time too. No need to use some of Rambo's stuff to save time.

As long as you can test it ingame, I think it'll be 1000x better. The main downfall of the first one was displacements that you'd get stuck in.
Yeah I used too small radius on the painting geometry. I have learned my lesson.
I reeeeaaaaaally can't wait for gm_apocalypse to come out! Once a radbox version has been made, we won't have to keep scrambling to come out with good maps.
I don't think it looks too bad. Now I have to decide what the Exodus base looks like. It's supposed to be down a flight of stairs from the main boarding platform.

You can really only spend so much time on one map...
Anyways, mine is slowly coming along, hope to have some pictures soon. Haven't had much time to map due to school, work, friends, and a few other things...

I was just thinking that myself when I uploaded. I had the power set to full when I made the displacement. Maybe rescaling the brush had something to do with it.

If the map works well we'll be keeping it on, even if it doesn't work to well we may just because the current one is absolutely horrible.

If its messed up as in you click with any tool it drags the grid then end hammer.exe with taskmanager and load it up again, it should work.
