hello! i was wondering how i can make a screen and camera like the ones showing Breen in the City 17 levels, i want it to be able to show a video from a room then change camera once a trigger is activated thanks for any help

Throw an env_sprite near the bottom and lighten the alpha and it could work. I think, at least - this is all imagined in my head, so I could totally be wrong.

Try using two light spots, having one facing upward at a low intensity, and one facing downward to be the actual light source. The one facing upward will be the effect of the light from the fixture on the ceiling. Also turn shadows off on the light fixture prop.

I would like to make an npc_citizen sit down in a chair slouching over a table while on a chair. I know what animation I want to use, but I'm not sure how I can go about doing this?
Working with angles keeps tripping me up... I really wish hammer had support for things like construction planes and such. Anyone have any tips on how to avoid dealing with, or working around, this asshole of a problem?
Need some help with this scene i am creating in EP2, basically all models (tried about 7-8 props) except NPCs behaves like this, their origin is not inside any brush, i tried using a different origin for the light. I have a rather big problem with hammer No matter what engine I map for, whenever I load up any map that I saved the loading bar comes up to 0% then completely crashes. Ending the process does nothing, ending Source SDK does nothing, it is to where I have to exit Steam completely to close hammer. Any ideas?

Do Pakratted materials override default materials that reside in folders? Say I wanted to modify a texture for my map. If i Pakratted in the modified material and a player has that material in a folder already, which one would show up? The default one, or the one embedded in the map file? I'd like to replace a prop's skin, which is why I ask.

So it's more like, GCF/VPK -> Game folder -> BSP embedded content.
What do you suppose the proper width of a city 17 cobblestone street might be?

How can I get hammer to display materials that are in the models/ folder?

Later, I tried again, same thing, and then I built cubemaps, which didn't help. I've loaded up the map many times without any change, AFTER building cubemaps. Thing is, this doesn't happen when I build cubemaps, rather the second I load up the map, regardless of whether I built cubemaps or not. I never had this happen when I built cubemaps before, or when I had none at all. EDIT: The screen I took was right when I loaded the map by the way.
