Hope is done soon im a huge fan of the stargate series. But im not trying to rush you.

Get a multimeter and check if the motor is getting any juice while its switched on

Some people are so stupid.
Use a defibrillator.

Problem solved.

That would require me to open the HDD and expose the platters and head to the room air. Dust is something you don't want in your HDD. That's like playing a disc record in a sandstorm.
It can't be that bad, unless you live in a sandstorm, of course.

Considering the motor contacts are exposed on the bottom of the HDD, no...
ITT: People who don't know anything about HDDs trying to solve problems with HDDs? :v:

One dust particle can be enough. If the head hits it and jumps, a headcrash can damage the platter. And in case the head stays misaligned permanently, I'd be extra screwed.

You mean the four exposed soldering joints where the circuit board connects to the motor?
In this case, I'd need to buy a multimeter and learn how to use it. :v:
It's not going to help tikay if he never played with electronic. It's the best just to give it to some friend/company that knows what he/they are doing, so less possibility for data lost.
ughh i hate the reliability on hdd drives i swear they fail more often now then they did way back when..
if i could afford it i would get those ssd drives.... btw thanks tipkay for letting me borrow an image or two for my tag in cap ;_)

just buy yourself a new drive its not worth fixin these.. maybe if you got another controller the pcb's are interchangable but by that time its not worth it just get a 500 gig for around 40 usd off ebay and replace it
I've been using computers for about 8 years or so, and I didn't see an hdd fail so far.
I would say 2 locations to store - online and external hdd so you'll always got 2 locations you can get your files from.
Oh i get it Hard Drive Disk

I already bought a new one, as I stated above, only 2 hours before the shit hit the fan.
A 1 or 2 TB SSD would be sweet, but is simply not affordable. I have a 120GB SDD for Windows and apps, though.
And again, a PCB change might work, or might not, as the platters may be tuned to the chips on newer drives.

It can happen any time. :v: I've been using computers for ~15 years or more and I never experienced a HDD failure first hand. Yesterday a coworkers HDD crashed and another one told us his drive went apeship only a week ago. Maybe I picked up a HDD crashing aura. Or them. :tinfoil:

Two HDDs in a Raid 1 array are sufficient. As long as Lady Luck doesn't decide to let both HDDs break at the same time, let my home burn to the ground or let other natural disasters wreak havoc on my hardware and soul.
You know what? Let's just drop the topic.

Oh wow a whole week and nobody wrote anything

Is this map going to be released or has it been scrapped?
Is this map going to be released or has it been scrapped?
Indeed, of course it will be released. Tikay and myself were running around, swapping bodies with stones and shooting each other on this very map, mere hours ago.
Your Ori soldier impression was oscar-worthy. :v:
So the stones actually worked for you? I suppose it was cool to test them on that map :D

Indeed! it was awesome.
Aren't the stones supposed to work? oO
Aren't the stones supposed to work? oO
Winner ^^
Few ppl (and me to) during online play experiences errors like not proper switching back.
Btw, tikay, I hope you know I can support your map by making different various small entities (for example door controller), like I'm doing for Flyboi right?
We didn't try to switch back, I crashed the server before we could try. :D
And yes, I know.
Big enough? Or over the top?

It's perfect as long as you make it bright as fuck.
Actually, in a lot of works of art it becomes darker, the closer you get. Of course that's just because it would be boring to look at a "big ball of bright". Also it would fuck up the retinas of the characters if there wouldn't be some kind of compensating shielding.
I can't find a good video of the observation room scenes of the movie "Sunshine". That film got it nice. :/
Damn, this looks even more sexier now then it did the first time I posted in this thread last year
I hope all work is going well on this beauty, judging by the videos and screenshots the time you have put into it will be very very worth it
