I could dismiss this whole post with a single NO.
-The dome room probably won't be included until I get better shots of it. I read somewhere that we will see more of it in season 2.
-I certainly won't move the gate just so you can trap yourself with a jumper in the gateroom. The stargate is at the right place where it is now.
-The planet with the crashed ship would be just that: a rocky landscape with a broken ship. No need for that. Especially since I don't feel like modelling that ship wreck.
- An open "beta" version is unlikely. I already have some people on my list to help me bugfixing when the time comes.

Can someone point me to a good photoshop tutorial for worn-out metal (i.e. the destiny walls)? My finds weren't really helpful.
Most results use a brush effect with quite strong vertical brush lines. Looks strange in-game.
I also thought about using material from cgtextures.com and simply recolor it, but without much success (yet!). :/

If you look at the vtf from the main destiny gun in the carter pack you will see a vtf file called metal.vtf thats the same base texture and it got texture and proper vmt settings, so if you want you have my permission :)

Thanks, but I'm more interested in [B]how[/B] you make these textures, so I can learn how to do it myself. All by hand in photoshop? Predefined filters? Or other software like Genetica or FilterForge?

Well, I can't make the destiny without the control interface room. And I can't make the control interface room without the ...control interface/applecore. So yeah, I fear I have to.

I know the destiny has kinda unspectacular/boring plating and instead alot of stuff added to the hull, but this might spare me to cluster the surface with small structures.

These were the only tabs i had open, opend up image shack and got a "Antivir solution pro" installed on my comp, without any instruction of mine ( meaning i didn't click download at any point )... it wouldn't allow me to cntrl alt delete to turn it off, it woudlnt let me run my anti virus prog's and it ran my proxy through thier server... I had to go into safemode and extract it... gust giving the heads up, maybe it was a popup or something.. but i didn't notice one. You mean normal map ? i don't see any spec or phong mask in the picture just bump with no phong mask.
and for the textures i do them from plain RBG:50 gray by hand.

The spec mask makes the metal look shiny/wet. It looked worse in motion than in the image, but I toned it down since then anyway.

mmh no that are normals, spec maps will reflect the scratches/damage you put on that map the normals will give the effect something is high or low and give a glossy effect combined with phong is a really good combination.
Show maps you are using for that effect.

And according to the [URL="http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Specular_mask"]Valve Wiki article[/URL], the spec mask defines the intensity of the reflections, although it uses the normal map to achieve the effect, too.
Also, phong can't be used here, as it is only available to model materials (an exception would be the newest version of the source engine, as seen in Alien Swarm, where phong reflections seem to be used on world geometry).
spec mask looks more like a phong mask or a height maps to me :/, are you using it on alpha from normal or in any other way ?
Bcs normal always give that effect never seen a spec map do that, a bump map aka height map yes but spec no =/
mmh didn't tried it on world materials but you can always try :D
diffuse map is a better word than albedo imo :/
and to make sure the normal is creating that effect, just try the diffuse with a flat/plain normal, you will see :}

How originoal, Anyway i guess thats a fair enough assumption, It just felt like that is where it was from, mouse over the image and my pages froze and it installed, Scans didn't pick it up previously oh well..
And Viruses can be embodied in an image mousover function, to whoever said it wasn't the image itself, even though it wasn't, its possible.
