I'm toying with the idea of splitting the map.
Would you prefer one big map including as much as possible of Destiny while also featuring a few gate locations?
Or rather two specialised maps:
1. Detailed Destiny interior + Icarus Base
2. Just Destiny's gate room + a hand full gate locations

That depends, are you considering the split because the map is getting too much for Hammer, or just because you think it might become more detailed if you size it down? I've always valued both freeplay and detail but with Hammer maybe you can't have both at this scale, so I would pick one map as long as it doesn't crash and the detail is still how you want it to be :) Good luck anyways, I know whatever you choose the outcome will be good!
It depends really, I would like as much of Destiny as possible, but that is also dependant on these 'other' locations that you would add into the map and how detailed they are, etc.
am curious about the map-overview on page 1.
not atleast because of the variety of set variations on sgu, i'm pretty much clueless about where the familiar rooms are located.
from my point of view, it looks like:
level -1: controle interface + maybe some corridors and crew compartments
level 0: gateroom (main floor), nexus, shuttle bay, storage room, observation deck, etc.
level 1: kino room, nexus, gateroom (upper floor), storage room, etc.
i don't suppose there have been major changes in the overall layout, or?
level -1: front shuttle bay (undecided whether to include it at all)
level 0: gateroom, storage rooms 1 & 2, portside shuttle bays, observation deck, kino room, dome, a few quarters
level 1: upper gateroom, upper storage rooms 1 & 2, more quarters
level ?: infirmary, mess hall, aplcr room
including the bridge?
although i would scream like a fan girl, if there's a chance for the bridge (pushing the up/down button all day)...you'd better not count on it.
it's easily the most detailed room aboard destiny and probably eat a whole lot of resources
The bridge requires too much work in order to look good. Definetely not in the first release.

The elevator probably won't be an option, since there won't be a bridge to "elevate" to.

As far as i know, we haven't seen the actors crawling up and down any ladders.
Destiny's levels should be so close to each other, that a simple ramp from one level to another should be enough.
E.g.: A ramp like the one which Rush, Volker and Young went upwards to the gateroom, during Rush's ragequit in (S01EP04:Darkness)

It's already taken 2 years, creating the Destiny in a wholly detailed and complete way is impossible on Source. Although that won't stop me from playing the map if it comes out because Tikay can still make it very good
I do believe there are ladders in Destiny. I think it was in the last episodes of Season 1, Eli was in a different part of the ship and he had to climb a ladder...which he didn't like...

um, he doesn't have to add the bridge and robot hanger if he doesn't want to, he said maybe in later revs
