Are you planning on making the Lucian Alliance "Icarus type" planet??
I don't mind, perhaps some ambient noises of the lift moving before you are teleported?
There is a humming sound and light screen shakes when the elevator "moves".
This is my last post in this thread. Good to read that. Please keep your word.
You really need to realize that most people aren't giving you criticism at all, and are praising this map, which makes you think you are better than you are. That's why I posted that it's not as great as people said, so that you wouldn't automatically think you're better than you are. Why would I think I'd be "better than I am"? Is there any indication of this in the thread? How do you want to know what I think? And if so, I would have unleashed a shitty map on the internet already, praising it to the skies. But I didn't. Also I already declared that I very well know this map is far from perfect, but you seem to conveniently have "overlooked" that, too.
I gave you criticism, pretty much no one else did, so why don't you take it and improve on your map Oh, you already forgot that people told you the things you're nagging at are not wrong but how they are supposed to be? You provided nothing to improve on, just critism based on ignorance.
or at least not be an asshole when responding and making me think that you're an uptight prick? I mean, honestly, I don't know you, but that's the judgment I have of you. And yet you are the one becoming insulting and vulgar. There is the hypocrisy again.

The blue window textures used as lights doesn't look good at all :\
True. Don't worry, all HL2 texture will be replaced by custom ones before this map will see the light of day.
Are you planning on making the Lucian Alliance "Icarus type" planet??
Heh, I totally forgot about that planet. Maybe
Cuz that would be great for multiplayer, as some could be the bad guys and "Invade" Destiny :D
Perhaps we could decompress the Gateroom this time round....
Now what we need is a not-buggy Spacebuild gamemode!
or a super cool SGU Gamemode, in which you have to travel to the other planets to collect resources to survive.
And kill chloe!
or a super cool SGU Gamemode, in which you have to travel to the other planets to collect resources to survive.
This. Except it'd be really hard to do. If you wanted a real SGU gamemode, you'd need to reduce the Destiny map for gameplay purposes instead of realism, then you'd need to make it so you can control which gates can dial which gates at which times.
I'm sure all of it is possible, though.

It wouldn't be so hard. Two gaming servers, one running the only-Destiny map (so a whole destiny, etc) and another one running an offworld map. The two servers share a database of players (kinda like an RP server system), what contains everything, and of course the mission database (where missions are stored by planet, etc). The secondary, mission planet server rotates the maps kinda randomly (taking the last x played maps, and getting something new, so no repeats in a long time), then gets a mission from the DB for that planet/map, sends the info to the primary (Destiny) server, where a popup tells people there's an available mission, tells requirements, and where to go for applying. If the needed X players applied, the gate is dialed, and they can go through. Who does not applied but goes through the gate, has a few options:
a, gets stranded on the planet, and when the map changes, gets transported to the third server, the refugee camp, what is a planet far far away from Destiny (like the planet from Faith)
b, Dies (and thus the character gets deleted)
c, Goes back to Destiny with the away team, and gets some penalties (soldiers can not attend missions for a time, civilians get jailed, etc)
Also the away team has a given time span, so they have to complete the mission in that time, like retrieve an artifact, get in contact with some aliens, etc. If done, the team comes back.
While the team is around the gate, a shared chat appears, so they can communicate with the ship - from the original server it is only possible from the gate room.
Also for shuttle missions, people attending the mission are collected in the shuttle (what should not be totally functional, as it has no need for de-docking, but seats, and displays).
It is totally possible, but only with two servers. Or more.
And an incredible amount of coding, mapping and effort.
And an incredible amount of coding, mapping and effort.
Indeed. The idea I shaped wouldn't just need a total rewrite of the gate code (including the thing aVoN feared a lot: travelling between servers with gates), a multi-stage Destiny map (including an in-FTL mode, and a normal space mode, this last one would load the skybox based on the secondary server's map), a dynamic player system, a lot of NPCs, etc. Never said it will be easy. Actually , it will be very, VERY hard, a lot of work, etc.
And you will probably need one or two of these:

You guys are sick. :fuckyou: That sounds like a ton of work and is far beyond my capabilities.
If anyone wants to go ahead and realize these ideas, have fun. :P
I might provide the map for it, but anything that looks even remotely like coding is not my thing.
Now what we need is a not-buggy Spacebuild gamemode!
I could add SB3/LS3 atmospheres to the planets and Destiny itself. Just think of the hot desert planet from "Air" or the ice planet from "Water". And I wanted to add a damaged, decompressed area on Destiny anyway.

Leave out the inter-server stuff and it sounds feasible. Just on a smaller scale.

almost like the super computer JUGENE in the research center jülich :D
wait a second,...that IS the hall where it's supposed to be isn't it?

It's the same hall, but what you see there is one of JUGENEs predecessors, JUMP. JUGENE was added on the open space on the right side of the picture if I'm not mistaken.
^probably what he said.
Do you have some new screenshots to show?? I just cant wait for this map, and for season 2 of SGU :D
Is there any plans for a sand planet? Like the one in Air Part 3?
First I need help with deciding on some planet names. :P
Until now, I gave them names according to their looks/environment, but I could also name them like similar planets from the show:
"Ice Planet" or "Hoth"? (from the episode Water)
"Forest Planet" or "Paradise"? (from the episode Faith)
"Temple Planet" or "something else...." (has nothing in common with the underground structure from Lost)
Oh and I added Spacebuild atmospheres. Does anyone know whether it could cause problems if I use SB2 (logic_case with planet) and SB3 (logic_case with planet2) planets simultaneously? I made the planet2's radiuses a bit smaller, so they take precedence over the planets.
If anyone understands what I mean...
[editline]08:05PM[/editline]
A desert planet would probably be the simplest, just some dunes there. ^^
I thought it would be too boring, but what the hell... More diversity!

Desert Names: "Desert Planet(0)" "The Dust Bug Planet" "White Sands"
Ice Planet Names: "Ice Planet" ""Hoth (0)"" "Ice Chasm"
Forest Planet: "Forest Planet" "Paradise" "Obelisk Planet(0)" "Faith Planet"
Temple Planet: "The Temple" "Sanctuary" "Refuge"
(0) indicates "official" terms in-show

So if i get this right, you're searching for some planet names for those you already have?
Well then, ^^ hope my "suggestions" help a bit.
Desert Planet: (Solitude / Seclusion)
Ice Planet: (Freezer)
Forest Planet: (Seasons / Monsoon)
Temple Planet: (Revelation)
11 days until season 2.... :D
I realy can't wait for season 2, I'm having Stargate withdrawl right now....
I can't wait either. Although I just posted this in Avons thread, it fits here even better:
http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/show-patrol/2010/09/on-the-stargate-universe-set-awesome-sfx-realistic-destiny.html
An article including photos of the bridge and videos of the gateroom, infirmary and corridors.
Also, I'm currently redoing the forest planet. Making it larger and use foliage from Ep2.
I know I should concentrate on the Destiny, but...it's difficult.

White Sands fits really well for the desert planet, especially because that's the name of the desert in New Mexico where the scenes were shot. But of course you know that already. ;)
I'll use that.

Hmm those sound more like episode titles (and actually two of them almost are :P ) than planet names. But nice try.

There are two very interesting pictures in Joe Mallozzis blog entry of the 18th. I hope the second one is of ancient design. :aaa:
Anyway, new screenshots:

Doesn't look like much, but compared to how it looked before, it's some improvement:
