I've just about finished everything I want to do with b5-1 (the new one), but I'm currently having a LOT of trouble with my internet. As in, it will be running fine, then drop to 2kb/s. Because of this, I'm reluctant to beta test since it's likely I won't actually be able to play. However, I've already arranged for a new internet connection to be installed, which should be happening on tues. Chances are the next beta test will be that evening. Hope to see lots of you then ;)

Good thing we are getting new ones :P And concidering I want to code everything that moves, hopefully I can get some huge optimisation on the entmem on the map and let Shadow really hammer in the epic stuff. :biggrin:

Hammer it in on hammer editor. K little random. Any way I wanted to know if you still had the workshop idea (I read a few pages back, but I didn't care to read all of it). So sorry if that was answered. Also will the core still have coolant so it can be blown up on the ship and cause radiation. And not sure if this was intentional or not but a great boarding strategy would be to have one person sneak on and dump the core then have a bunch of people board the ship through the ejection hatch seeing as the doors don't close.
also i noticed you are using either a new smg skin or a new weapon in the pictures. Where can we get it? :)

I would like that, but seeing as I deleted anything not utterly important bigger than 2.5 gigs from my comp(or things linked to each other that together equal more than 2.5 gigs) I don't have any games, or steam. Anytime I'm on steam I'm on from my friends comp. Meaning, no PF, no Steam, no nothing. Mostly because I have a 20 gig HDD, and 75% was used up by unimportant things.[/unhappyrant]

I have 1.7 gigs free and i calculated 43 gigs of missing hard drive space. It hardly runs g mod or any other game for that matter and it has brought my modding ideas to a halt. I've been working on a small mod for death match based on the new iphone game Eliminate Pro. Luckily i'm getting a new Alienware laptop this year with win7 pro so i can run XP mode on it. Then i can get back to mapping and modding. Although in the mean time Shadowsand's work has inspired me to get off my lazy ass (so to speak) and try to do what mapping I can. First map is the smallest so it is almost in beta stage after a few hours of work. While it is a possibility, it would be completely redesigned to not only look better, but also work through lua, so it would be a pretty big thing to do. I will let you know when I decide either way on it though. The core almost certainly will have coolant and radiation, and it will work far better than before. The ejection hatch will likely stay open until closed manually (you can also open it manually though). Chances are if it isn't loading, you don't have enough memory to support it. I have 1.5GB on this pc (my bad one), and it can just about run it. I wouldn't go much lower though. Now I really wish that I had got cerberus v1-2 to work :(

Well, I added both of you guys, so yeah. Sorry for the late reply Kaffo. Have you guys been busy at work optimizing the map yet? I noticed a little lag on the beta when I played it a couple of days ago.
I liked v1, even though it lagged me to hell looking in a certain direction. v2 is already better, even without the resources I forgot to download! I noticed that on your info page for Planetfall v1, the latest link is for 1.7, but Filefront doesn't allow a download. Is it something on my end, or is it not uploaded yet?

Apologies for the long wait, and the numerous broken links, but here is the newly uploaded PFv1-7. It has lights, pretty windows, less bugs than the previous version but some bugs which werent there before as well. It's pakratted so you don't have to worry about any resources, and now I have to go and find all the places which have the old link and replace it with this one... 'fun'. Actually, we have already done the beta. About 2 hours ago. Don't worry, it wasn't as spectacular as I hoped. We got a grand total of about 3 people, and the map had several 'issues'. For example, I hadn't checked the compile log properly, so I didn't see that the area portals were broken. Also, since I haven't compiled PFv2 in soooo long, I completely forgot to build the cube maps, so everything in the map had missing texture reflections. Oh, and I missed out a few of the textures and models, so... yeah. Not the best come back PF has ever made. Oh, and yes the new internet is working :) It took a little more work than expected, but I now have more than 10x the download speed than I used to, plus I no longer have the lame 20gb/month download limit, which I was sharing with 3 other people.
Ah well. Good to hear. I actualy made that post while I was in school. Guess I will wait for the next one. I'm downloading v 1.7 right now. To bad I missed it Still having problems with Cerbus. It says in the console that there are too many models and I get kicked back to the main menu. I fixed it by decompiling it and then doing a fast recompile, but this has some problems to it. The lights don't work (They are always on), Some metal textures have a checkered overlay, and the "Portal Area" brush becomes a solid wall that you have to noclip through. I removed as many of them as I could in hammer. I was wondering if you (or anyone) had any ideas for help Oh yeah. Can I get a group invite?
That 'models' error on cerberus is the exact same one that the early versions of planetfall suffered from. Basically, the map is so complex that most people try to load it, but their computers can't handle it and crash. As far as I knew, that problem had been solved when I put in the spawn room. Other than upgrading your computer or removing a lot of the complexity from the map, I'm afraid I can't think of anything that might help. Although, that 'checkered overlay' on certain metal textures can be fixed by typing 'buildcubemaps' into the console. If you do it once, you won't have to do it again unless you recompile. As for the group invite, I would, but you're not on my friends list. Unless you're using a different name (I checked for pbplayerjim as well).

And you are on my friend list. It says shadowsand and has a picture of a white tiger. It also says you accepted my request. I am friends with Kaffo too.
