Other than a test, a demonstration and a tiny piece of work to hand in on monday, I have no finished uni for this term. That means that for the next week (other than monday), I dont have to do anything, and no one else is in the house. So...

[/B]Tonight, I had planned the PF Run, but nardix cant make it tonight. I do NOT want to do another one on sunday, cause that never goes well. Therefore, tomorrow, starting at around 10am GMT and finishing whenever I get too bored, there will be a new PF Run. I will attempt to get a new version of PFv2 done in time, but I make no promises, because the 3D skybox is taking considerably more time than I had planned.
If we get enough willing players, we may attempt some of the activities from the Planetfall Assault which we never got around to doing:

Other than that, it will be the usual 'play through whatever map we want, suggest new features, find bugs, have fun and try to find entertaining new ways of killing each other'.

Planetfall Assault seems pretty neat. Although its pretty much over once the attacking team reaches the engineering control room.
I love your work. I hate that I can't make the big event (have to work).

I think I missed it, unfortunately.
For the first time in about 12 months, a PF event actually went smoothly! We started off on PFv2 b5-5, then went through Discovery b1-3, Puzzler part 1 and 2, then finished up on Cerberus (para v1 and inf v1-1). Near the end of discovery, a lot of people unfortunetaly had to go for food and never came back, but it was still a lot of fun, and we picked out several bugs I had completely missed before.
Now that we have a server again, I do intend to make use of it for more events, but mostly likely only after I release major new versions.

Some of you may have noticed that the SVN was updated about a week ago. I had been working on PFTD, and realised that I needed more crates. Rather than making loads of nearly identical models, I updated the old ones to have 15 different skins. In theory, this wont affect current crate models (like in PFv2) except that a few of them may now use slightly different textures by default.
As for PFTD itself, just about all the bugs from b1-3 have been fixed, the docking arm has been modified, lots more walls/doors have been added, including the first of many many obstacles to overcome. I've also found a pack of about 9 space skyboxes. They may end up being useless, but I will have to try them out to see if any are more suitable than the current one. However, b2 isn't finished yet, so it's not on the SVN, but it shouldn't be too long.

Not REALLY. I mean, I have been working a fair bit, and some of the work was on PFTD (which now has a b2 in the SVN), but the rest of the work was on another map. It feels kinda wrong to post about other maps here, since it is the PFv2 thread. I only really do PFTD cause that's another part of the same series.
Still makes me think: "Wait what? He's doing a tower defence?"
Heh. While it would be possible with lua, and probably quite entertaining to make, that's highly unlikely :P

Updates to just about every map :P Also, I was recently contacted by a guy who wanted to know more about Planetfall, and possibly wants to play it and other maps with lots of people. You know what that means, right?
PF RUN. Or maybe anyway. If he adds me on steam I will likely be playing through all my maps with him and anyone else who wants to drop in. If not, the next event will be whenever I update maps enough to warrent one.

God, I sit my ass totally flat for finding this map again :D My favourite :D Hmmm... Is there any server where it's running? :) To be honest, you can easily make a gamemode with it like the BF 2142's Titan mode ;) You should think about it :D
We do currently have an official 24/7 PlanetfallRP server running (hosted by the awesome LaKraven). However, he hasn't updated it with the latest Gmod patch, so you can't actually join just yet. I'm stuck on my nowhere-near-as-awesome PC for the next few days as well, so I will have to get Kaffo to post the IP here for you. Either me or him will post here once it's been updated.

Just in case there are any of you that don't yet know, Valve have screwed up Source SDK. And I mean completely. Mapping is impossible in its current state, and while there is some obscure community fix which involves rearranging files, I would rather wait until valve fixes this themselves.
For those who haven't noticed yet, I have updated the Shadows-Betas SVN with a new beta of Cerberus v2 (b1-2). I did include the new models used, however I'm not sure if all of the textures are in there. There's also several rather large bugs in this version, such as all the lights on deck 3 being off for no apparernt reason. If you want to take a look around, feel free, but be warned that it may deprive you of bigger 'wow' moments in future versions ;)

That's because most/all of the maps in that SVN are unreleased and don't even have WIP threads. I only hand out the Shadows-Betas SVN to people I know on steam, but the Planetfall one is at the end of the OP, which I will soon be updating with new pictures.

First, there is no laser in v1.7. Second, even if there was a laser in v1.7 there isnt anything to destroy on the surface. Third, why would you think there's a laser?

Yes, lasers CAN be awesome. But lasers in source engine suck unless you use a custom particle set/lua, which I have no idea how to use.
You have no idea how many times people have used that storyline excuse against me. You know, I only came up with that storyline is cause someone challenged me, saying I didn't have a clue what the storyline was, so in under 5 mins I thought of and wrote it in steam chat for him. Now, even ignoring the facts that insta-killing everyone/everything on the surface would be lame and extremely annoying, and that destroying any surfaces on the surface (like in v2) would be completely impracticle, if not impossible, the storyline for PFv1 was that it could destroy planets with a bomb which drilled into the core then exploded, not a laser.
As the old (and incredibly rushed) storyline also states, the ship was very badly damaged, thus no mega bombs. In PFv2, the storyline has been completely changed so it makes way more sense and doesn't include any planet-destroying stuff. Just a crazy AI and a freaky infection she created.
I liked the first story better. It was more mysterious.
