I'm also trying to convert maps to the GMod engine, following the instructions in this thread (currently doing CSGO). Maybe I could ask you a few questions?

You need just to compile these maps on EP2 engine, but there could be tones of bugs with reflections, wind, ropes etc. Anyway, I'll try to compile these maps for Gmod tomorrow. Ask, I'll try to answer, but I'm badly in english)
You know how one would port 1.6 maps to Source? I already know of two, but neither of them have worked out for me. Also I have no idea how to use Wallworm, but I do (or did, I'm not sure if I remember how I did it, but it might have involved Google Sketchup, and I have also found a different way of doing it with just Crafty and 3DSMax) know how to import 1.6 maps into OBJ to do stuff involving XNALara. And by "stuff involving XNALara" I mean things like this. [sp]The pictures are of Alice from that one grimdark Alice in Wonderland game exploring Duhhh, not any creepy fetish stuff. I'm hyperlinking them because they have nothing to do with the thread.[/sp]
You know how one would port 1.6 maps to Source? I already know of two, but neither of them have worked out for me.
Counter-Strike 1.6? O_o I've never even tried to port them.

Windows reported the error:" etc. It seems to be very random, sometimes it does it, sometimes not, sometimes fixing the problems detected by Hammer solves it, sometimes not doing that solves it instead. It's really annoying.
You need to compile in expert mode, not normal mode.
I tried that with cs_assault, but no I still get the same problem, even after fixing the problems Hammer detected. Any suggestion what configuration/command/parameters I should use in the Expert mode window?
No one's looked into porting the maps from the new Insurgency?
No one's looked into porting the maps from the new Insurgency?
I've ported one map for myself yesterday. In future I'm gonna to port all of the maps for people.
Oh, please do! But I still don't know how to solve that damn "The command failed. Windows reported the error:" problem. I'll do some research on the internet.
I apologize for intruding, but I ported some CS:GO and Tactical Infiltration maps to SFM a little while back. I have no clue if they'll work in GMOD, sorry.

Also, last time someone ported, maps needed to be splitted because of size (I think it was the London one)

When I load the textures and decompiled map in the CS:GO SDK, everything looks fine. When I load it into HL2 and L4D2 SDK's, Hammer shows purple-black checkerboards for the majority of the textures. We really need this map to be ported. [t]http://i.imgur.com/5QU7dZS.jpg[/t]
Stupid question but, did you try converting the VTFs? This may fix the problem, also, thats a hell of a map, real pretty.
Wait, converting VTFs? I'm not well versed with CS:GO so what do i have to do?
Do you think you can do ND next? Also, last time someone ported, maps needed to be splitted because of size (I think it was the London one)
I've been ported those maps a long time ago. Now I'm porting them again, but it takes much time, so don't wait for them in a nearest time. It's diffcult to cut them or fix "max map T-junctions". Also I'll release them apart. Now I'm porting "Downtown" and 60% already done.
Wait, converting VTFs? I'm not well versed with CS:GO so what do i have to do?
Theres an tool for that, i have found it in another thread here on FP: http://cra0kalo.com/public/VTFVer.zip Thats the full thread: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1180944 About the ND maps, dont worry, take your time, and good luck!
Thank you for that! Fixing t-junctions is a bitch. Did they upgrade the max limit in CS:GO or something?
Do you think you can do ND next? Also, last time someone ported, maps needed to be splitted because of size (I think it was the London one)
I had never heard of Nuclear Dawn before, but I'll definitely take a look at it. CSGO is going to take some time though, and I also intend to convert the best custom maps.
I have all the original ND maps in .vmf format from the developers with the exception of nd_coast which was a community addition so they can't release it to me, I was porting them before my SDK broke.
I hope your going to port the dear esther map to gmod
I wonder how smoothly porting maps from Titanfall will be when that comes out.
I wonder how smoothly porting maps from Titanfall will be when that comes out.
I don't think it will be possible. I mean hell Contagions upped the entity limit by like 4x I'm sure Titanfall is well beyond that.
Titanfall maps won't be portable. Their engine can't even be called Source at this point because of how much work they put into it. For example: They don't even use vbsp and vrad, they use an entirely brand-new DX11 rendering method.
Sooo who wants a Mirror's Edge map? Still working out a few kinks before i release it sometime in the next week or so.
Dear Esther: Status: Released Note: in this archive you can find maps from the "Dear Esther" game for Source Filmmaker. I tried to carry them maximally without changes, saving all particles, triggers and different effects for maintenance of original beauty of the maps. The most important difference from an original maps is absence of water in Sky Camera (3D skybox) in case of serious bug with reflections on water. Thats why maps were extended to the maximal sizes and filled by water.
