Thanks to Terenteller.
Now, will you try to make the whole Magic Kingdom park on one map, or will you be splitting each part into a different map?
Now, will you try to make the whole Magic Kingdom park on one map, or will you be splitting each part into a different map?
We are going to be splitting it into multiple maps. The idea is to have a server running with each part of the park so when the player wants to go to another land, it just moves them to the server hosting that map. Not only would it be silly to try to fit everything into one map, but, even if it were possible, it would destroy performance.

Don't forget that Hammer hates the world. It would make the map around... 500MB. Or something like that.
Teehee
This is the kind of project that will only succeed with a professional development team, which is very hard to come by and which you don't seem to have. You can have a gaybow, because I honestly think this will eventually die, kudos if you can pull it off.

There is the post I have been waiting for.

Woah. I could have sworn I just saw this in the requests 24 minutes ago.

Oh, hey, a "you will fail" guy.
Okay, I will give the same speech I give to the guys on my team if we feel bad that this thing is not going to work:
While I know that yes, we need a development team, I can assure you that we are making progress with the current team. Yes, we need more people too. Yes, we need professionals. Yes, we are looking for those. Most people who create projects like this one would just go "gtfo, why post here" or anything else, but I see that you deserve a correct and good answer.
I will state here that I do not push my team to the limits. I do not obligate them to do stuff. If they aren't available to do it, I am not gonna spam their team chat. They joined my team because they like Disney. Thats one of the main things that all our team share, and is that love to Disney that keeps us doing this thing. I do insist that them give their best, just go look at our forums. Everyone - modelers, mappers, texture guys and even research dudes - are working everyday to bring this project to life.
I am not saying "gtfo" or "fuk u" in a classy way.
Our aim is to re-create the best theme park company in the world. And remember, in the start, when Walt was planning Disneyland, no one believed that an entire theme park could be built in ONE year and in that small space of land that Walt owned at California. Now, look at the present. Its the leader on theme park entertrainment.
We have the same problem: time and Hammer limitations.
We are as Walt in the start: a small group of people trying to create something that has never before been done. We want more critics like that to help us know what are the problems in our groups, in our ideas. In this way, we can create something that will not lead to the depths of the "dead projects" hole that we have on Facepunch, we want to create something that will lead to a great big beautiful tomorrow.
- If you see any grammar errors, go ahead, tell me.
Do you have any pictures?
Do you have any pictures?
There's a WIP section on the forum for our project. If you don't wish to leave the sanctity of Facepunch to see some screenshots, then I will ask the team if they'll allow me to post one of mine here.
Well I'm just curious as to how much progress you've made. You've got 5 pages of discussion and a bunch of naysayers. A good way to shoot the naysayers down is to post progress. Doesn't have to be complete, but I wouldn't post it if it looks bad.
I have Station pretty done. I don't want to post it for one reason.
...Dev Textures. Not good on eyes.

Well, we might get THAT fixed on today's team meeting.
Gaybacon, you can post your pictures, if you want.

And that too.
So this is still obviously WIP, but this is one of the buildings I'm working on. The architecture will be mostly model based with only the insides of the buildings brush-based...

Woah. I like it :D
omg theast like 7 posts made mecry haha!! i love our project
If this thing is completed before catfishtango's "mall" map is released, and will handle the Source engine. I would treat the mappers like gods. Because I've never been there in my life.
But sadly, I find this project will be canceled even before half of it is complete.
I find it extremely unlikely the Source engine will handle this. Walt Disney World is a humongous place.

Why completed before catfishtango's mall?
Also, we are dividing each Magic Kingdom land into a map, and giving our best efforts in each map.
Anyway, thanks for the comments Benie!
Wow, that sounds like a brilliant idea but a very hard one to execute. Good luck with it though!

Oh, thanks again!
Looking good so far, I'm interested to see how well you guys will do with the rides, particularly the ones with a lot of animatronics and special effects like Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion.
