I assume this is a a map with the tube train area in it? IF the rails are 80 units in between I could make a tube train mod and have it work on this map. Great work so far!
The gauge me and Callinstead (who's modelling the train) have decided on is 82. As for a tube train mod, I've always planned on having the train in this map be an in-map entity; nevertheless, add me on Steam so we can chat further, I'm interested to hear what you have in mind.
82 works fine. As for the mod, it wouldnt be any time soon, I have so much on my plate as it is to do : P
You should also have an actual commuter train to get around parts of the city that's always delayed because of the wrong kind of snow.
Man, if only you'd asked me that question a few months ago: [t]https://i.imgur.com/PSTSSpZ.jpg[/t]
Does that version of the road textures have the 3 and 4 way intersections? If not I'd like to share those.
I'd like to share those.
Share them! The community could always use some love, send it our way :)
Man, if only you'd asked me that question a few months ago: [t]https://i.imgur.com/PSTSSpZ.jpg[/t]
Just make an arcade map based around one of the piers! You could always do South pier, and include the Sandcastle water park and Grosevnor casino ;)
Does that version of the road textures have the 3 and 4 way intersections? If not I'd like to share those.
I'm almost certain it does (I just didn't use them at that point in the old map's development). I don't remember who made the roadpack set though; I'm using them in London too, so if anyone knows their original creator - even if it's you - let me know so I can put them in the map credits. But I'll consider it for sure. Barriers! [t]https://i.imgur.com/uOdZnXe.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/RFNvmaA.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/jJ3hAF7.jpg[/t]
Ahh. You beat me to it. I considered a london map after I was able to play some weird game, can't remember the name now. It was like GTA, but in London. Was going to recreate the textures and use them as a template, as it did have a map which would look good in source. Oh well. You have done an incredible job on the Subway. The models are really nice as well. Wish I could port models. It would really add to my maps. Very nicely done!
That interior lighting of the subway looks fairly dull, especially in comparison with the outside. Other than that the subway is looking pretty good!
It was like GTA, but in London.
The Getaway? Also OP, if you need any help with silly fake adverts, let me know because I've got a bunch of them on my deviantart. Either way, you don't have to abandon your idea just 'cos of mine - I'd honestly be interested to see how that would turn out as a map. You do you, dude.
That interior lighting of the subway looks fairly dull, especially in comparison with the outside. I'll probably make the adverts myself, and as with most of the rest of the map I want to try and make them feel real (so they won't exactly, uh, look like that)

I'll stick to the USA.
Beautiful. I wish there were more skilled mappers in GMOD/Source Engine community like you.
Beautiful. I wish there were more skilled mappers in GMOD/Source Engine community like you.
Awww shucks. I never thought of myself as a skilled mapper - more as somebody who just got lucky making good looking Tube stations for the last five years of her life - but I'm glad to hear other people think I am. Also, more stuff! (WIP as always) [t]https://i.imgur.com/Yb8Hypt.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/WibiKgC.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/LQNBIik.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/rQmT1K5.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/UuNdB9E.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/2VYG9lF.jpg[/t]
That's an extremely lovely little station you have!
Some early screens of the Holden area:
Mapping Jesus, I swear
Mapping Jesus, I swear
Come on now, don't be daft. The only Jesus in this thread is the Jesus in the sentence "Jesus you guys sure know how to flatter me". (that is unless I include a church or faith center in the map) Also, if anyone has any suggestions for the map then don't be afraid to let me know. In particular at the moment I'm looking for: - textures; it's pretty hard to find any good generic London building textures, especially for older Georgian/Victorian/Edwardian-era buildings, and I'd definitely appreciate any resources of that nature (or any good multi-use London textures out there) - the BBC building; it currently has three different studios, which are a radio/recording room, a news room, and a green screen room. I've got room for one or two more rooms, so what should they be? (I'm thinking of including two sets out of a 10 Downing Street set, an inside House of Commons set, and a set for a show like Doctor Who or Eastenders, but if you have any other suggestions then feel free to tell me) - the atmosphere; is the warm sunny aesthetic good, or would a colder more overcast feel be better? (I might try and get the map compatible with GMod's sky customisation thing) - any other buildings/features you'd like to see in the map (most of the usual RP staples will be present)
A map that had been recently released, rp_newexton, managed to have lights that were compatible with stormfox, perhaps try and do that on this map? You should go with the flow in your mind, it looks far too good already. Also is this [t]https://i.imgur.com/WibiKgC.jpg[/t] meant to be Covent Garden? Anybody know how the tube would work?

Also is this [t]https://i.imgur.com/WibiKgC.jpg[/t] meant to be Covent Garden? Anybody know how the tube would work?
I think the GMod .fgd has an env_skypaint entity that allows compatibility with the sky editor, and by extension with third-party weather addons like StormFox, so that's probably what New Exton uses. I honestly don't have much experience with GMod-specific entities (I've always used default HL2 Ep2 Hammer with other assets mounted) but I'll give that a go later on! As for Leslie Green Market, it's inspired by a combination of various central London markets - mainly Covent Garden, but with a bit of Leadenhall and the various Camden markets thrown in there too. And the tube will be an in-map train entity using a custom model, automatically going back and forth between the stations (but it'll be fast so you won't have to wait long). Essentially it'll work in pretty much the same way as subways on other RP maps, including the classics like Oviscity and Townsend. Speaking of the tube - I sent some WIP pics of the map to Underground boffin/world record holder/documenteer Geoff Marshal, and it seems to have gotten his seal of approval! [t]https://i.imgur.com/pk0q3gI.png[/t] (he did call me sir which I'm not super thrilled about, but oh well, it's better than no reply at all)
Progress continues (including the only time brushwork lettering will ever be justified): [t]https://i.imgur.com/uGMKj4A.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/bzGA7Bw.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/1ew30QA.jpg[/t] Also, a small area of Heathrow Airport will now act as the spawn (inspired by a similar solution in rp_amsterville): [t]https://i.imgur.com/YW8d23B.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/VGECHwk.jpg[/t] Also also: street signs! Are you going to be doing the IRL road markings they use in England or just the default ones supplied in Source?
Are you going to be doing the IRL road markings they use in England or just the default ones supplied in Source?
Real life road markings all the way baby. I did originally consider using stock HL2 textures for the roads, with the justification that they'd do the job just fine; but now that I've expanded the map, this town might just be big enough for the new roads to be worth it. This map looks amazing Tikwid! Keep up the good work! I'm excited to explore the map :wow:
This map looks amazing Tikwid! Keep up the good work! I'm excited to explore the map :wow:
Thank you! Rest assured there'll be plenty of places for you to explore, sights to see, and things to keep you busy. And here's one of those new things - an art gallery!
Texture time, I'll be fixing the normals as well. Brings me right back to my own memories of traveling on the C stock when I lived in London. I've already got someone working on the Tube train for this map, and unfortunately it's subsurface 1996 stock as opposed to cut-and-cover C stock, but you should definitely still give this model a public release. Great stuff! (Also on a general note sorry for the radio silence recently - had a lot of other things I've been busy with in my life. Hopefully the new year will bring me the motivation to continue working on this project, no matter how long it'll eventually take to get released. And hopefully the worst won't come to the worst, but if I do end up giving up on this - again very unlikely - I promise I'll make sure it's passed on to someone who'll finish and release it well.)

How about the 1956 Stock then? Or Possibility 2009 Stock.
