Its the question everyone wonders, but nobody has any idea what happens. What do [I]you[/I] think happens when we die? My idea of what happens when we go, is that.. well.. its kinda like not being around anymore. Just.. nothing. It could be a feeling of relief? Its impossible to comprehend or to think about. I find this very interesting, the concept of something not happening.
You die.
I'm 100% certain that when you die you just rot. Just like the millions and millions of animals that die everyday. I don't believe in magic, nuh-uh.
Respawn.
1. You go to a realm of other believes and mythology, could be interesting. 2. Reincarnation, not that you're going to know. 3. You go to Heaven, good for you. 4. You go to Hell, sucks to be you. 5. Nothing, not that you're going to care at that point because you're dead.
We all turn into kool-aid powder and little kids snort us.
Remember how it was before you were born? Probably not, but that's how I think it is to be dead. Absolute nothingness.
I dunno I'll get back to you on that when I die
Achieve Nirvana or reincarnate?
I like to imagine what it was like before i existed. No light, no dark, no air, no sensation of air pressure, no feeling, no breathing, nothing. You aren't even aware there is anything, there is no you, you are just a bodyless, lifeless essence of nothing. That is what it could be like to be dead.
Blackness and complete silence
I have little experience in the field of being dead, so I don't know. Could be anything, maybe nothing happens, maybe not, I myself think heaven would be preferable, people say that it's boring there because nothing bad happens, but what if it's like, personalized heavens? I mean, if God exists, then he/she/it would likely know what you think would be ideal, considering that he/she/it like, created you and stuff.
I had a near death experience. I saw Heaven, but then God said "WHAT THE FUCK IS HE DOING HERE?" and something about me interrupting Psych just because of a little bullet wound. Long story short, I woke up in a military hospital an hour later.
When you die it's the end of your oh-so-significant individual life. But that's not really the end of it, because there have been millions before you, and there will be millions more after you. So in some weird sense, we're all living all the time, till the end of time.
Google it.
It's the grand finale of life, when the final act is completed and the curtains draw. What's left after that? Does the play continue in a different place? No. All of the trials and stresses of life just disappear into the nothingness. It is the divine completion of the challenge that is life.
Absolute loss of consciousness, as if you were sleeping. Sleeping forever without dreams, that is.
This is going to get ugly, this should be in the mass debate section [editline]22nd July 2012[/editline] You cease to exist, consciousness is an illusion.
[QUOTE=Karmah;36893318]This is going to get ugly, this should be in the mass debate section [editline]22nd July 2012[/editline] You cease to exist, consciousness is an illusion.[/QUOTE] I think consciousness is real. Its impossible and will likely always be impossible to know if what we consciousness or what we perceive is real. So, it only makes sense (at this point in time, at least) to believe that what is widely perceived and accepted to be perceived by the majority of our species is real. I know it's possible that consciousness is an illusion, but there's no proof for it, nor the alternative. It's best to accept what we perceive, is what I'm saying.

Facepunch is like, a hivemind when it comes to this stuff, when threads like this appear, I like to count how many posts just say "You cease to exist" [editline]22nd July 2012[/editline] Eight so far.
I believe that the now documented spike of mental activity in the time just before death is the brain generating a temporary afterlife, by forcing your mind into a dream state that, to you, lasts millions of years but to others would only be observable for about half a second. After this "afterlife", you would simply cease to be. So basically, an incredibly hardcore lucid dream that you don't wake up from too quickly.
Oh I can tell you young man. I can tell you. I KNOW what's going to happen to me after I die. After I pass on, my body will become one with this Earth. From there, I will become a fertilizer for this planet. And with that, I will return as a huge beautiful tree.
A skeleton pops out.
Basically what DireAvenger said. It has been recently documented that your brain probably releases DMT right before you lose all cognitive function. DMT is basically a hallucinogenic, which could dilate time so that 1 second feels like an eternity of bliss.

I hope that they cut you down and turn you into paper, and once you are paper...THEY PRINT THE BIBLE ON YOU!
