  • Thanks to Mariokart64n, I can finally learn how to model in 3DS max. So my first mission is to import the best stuff from the SoT-trilogy of Prince of Persia to the G-mod. About time,don't you think? The beginning will be very hard for me, since I am really new to this. Things won't make it easier later on when I try to get the models from SoT. The game is basicly unrippable,so I have to go with 3D Ripper DX over it, and i have no idea how that thing works. Anyway, first go first.Since I have many comeplete models from Warrior Within, I will start with that.   • Trust me, SoT is an awesome game. It's like Portal on Persian. One of the best gaming experiences ever. Warrior Within, while many people disagree, is also a great game, with a great GoW-Value. Too bad it's so buggy on the PC.   • Could you put up a quick guide to how you ported these models, so that others can join in the effort and port things from other games too? Personally, I really want to do some ports from Vampire: Bloodlines.
  • Well, a tool was made for ripping the game and decoding the extracted but compressed .bin files. Just google for Persianrug. The creator'S name is Turfster and has an own homepage. Extracting works on all Jade Engine based games(Beyond Good and Evil and Raven Rabbits and King Kong) but the decompressing only works for the SoT-Trilogy. Worse the tool is fucking bugged, so most models can't be extracted. Reasom is that it rips incomplete object files and the models will look half baked. I can show some screens if you like to.And the top of it: The creator of the tool has lost his source codes and denies further updates... but you can try and contact him. Maybe he would retry if many people want to. But good thing is that it has all texture files ripped, so someone can surely use them for making new models...if they want too. Also, I think 3D Ripper DX should also work. But nobody has posted me a tutorial yet how it works 8/

  • Don't worry much about the ripping,worry more about decompressing the .bin files you get AFTER the extraction. Like I said, the decompressor works only on the SoT-trilogy(tried it out). Good thing is you get all textures out,all of them. Bad thing is that tool is so bad that in many cases the object files (.obj) are incomplete or won't be ripped. That's why I can't rip any SoT-models 8/. Farrah could work BUT SHE HAS NO FUCKING HEAD! I doubt there will come anything to rip Bg&E in the future... You have to get past the .bin files, and only tursfter seemed to have knacked the code of the Jade Engine. The files are compressed (maybe 8.8.8.8 ) DDS without header. And he lost it.... Apperantly, Ubisoft like my idea but they declined it. Well, I leave that up to Rck. I contacted him weeks ago and he agreed to try to make some sort of Source/text editor of BG&E and PoP-SoT. Didn't answer though after some time. I don't blame him, he is working on the steam archievment plugins lately.
  • Sorry for the long delay. I ripped now the last rippable(and good looking) stuff from the PoP-series. Seriously, the tool is fucked up. Almost all object files are not extractable or half baked. Environmental maps, objects,animals,charas, pick anything you want, it will fail. It's a fucking bitch and some models are really worth the port, so if you know how to edit models/objects, go ahead and tell me, I'll send then the worthwhile sets. I'll maybe try and rip Farah from SoT if people want to(well,I want 8P), by using the 3D Ripper. But I have no fucking idea how it works. There is only one tut out there and it's on fucking spanish! And to make the top of it, I won't rig them. Yeah, me as a beginner has still issues with the easy stuff and need more hours. Hours I need for learning! So sorry that I won't do it. Sure this will be the best game adpation in history :D.   • Hey man really nice job, keep up the work. Sorry to hear you're running into problems, what kind of editing are you talking about though? I might be interested, although I might be a tad under qualified if the editing is above my knowledge level.
  • AH,finally, some fellow helper 8D Well, for instance, the courtesan above your post. The texture and model don't fit maybe because the tool didn't made any .mtl for that and so texture coordinates are missing. Same goes with some other models I ripped,mainly from Sands of Time. The courtesan seems to be most fine compared to the others enemy models, but you can see how black parts and an ear and teeth are over her body... Also, the winged enemies need better wings. Ripped they look shitty 8/.
