  • I only saw a couple episodes of the series, it was awesome, I hope Sci Fi gets around to showing it in a marathon like they sometimes do with other shows that lasted about as long. Their should be an El Blanco reskin of the the Graboid after it's finished.

  • Sorry, Guys I'm in the middle of rebuilding my computer ;D Having a few hiccups so It might be like around 4ish days till I can finish skinning this. Also I'll make normal and spec maps for it also. (Unless we got a zbrush user here then they can :D) (Happy Holidays!)

Hehe, you MUST have gotten the UVW's working from the smd I sent :) And I dunno about Z Brush. If anyone thinks they can, go for it, but I'm not even sure how that would work for some bits of this model. I'll be stunned if someone does, I'll tell you. Well, if that's what's going on, then in the meantime I may as well start modeling the Shrieker :)

  • Eh, mouth texture and spikes could be improved. But the black shell looks good, though you can see the divide... Is it just me or is the mouth texture a little off?

  • @ Xystus: Yeah, it's a bit pinkish, but I also don't have shadows enabled for the renders. @ CrazyChicken: Uh... I'm real sorry man, but I just don't think you're grasping the look of a Graboid very well. I appreciate your enthusiasm though. @ Stratos: I'd have preferred the higher res texture as well, but I'll post back how it looks... By the way, the upper right UV's are the stomach, just so you know. I'm not sure what you thought they were. And on my screen it didn't look as dark as it does on the model, but I will make it brighter. As for the stomach UV's, well lets just say I didn't know what they were , so I made a sort of matching texture on them. Something else I realized is that the tentacle's head is darker from the rest of its length, I will fix that also.

Does it jump out half-way to bite you or does it do somthing else?

Tan and dusty is usually how I describe Graboid "skin". The dark spots are a bit too intense and prominent on Stratos'. I have to say though Stratos, I LOVE how you made certain parts of the beak and jaws look like they have small pockets of wedged-in dust.

  • Well, here's an idea...If it gets to a point where ya can't choose which skin is the best, ya could release alternate versions of the Graboid?...Similar to how you spawn a Citizen from Half Life 2, and it'll be a different one each time. Each time you spawn a Graboid, it could either be one skin or another...

The Graboid should have a sneak attack, like silently surfacing to grab something small right above the surface, like a pidegon or a headcrab, so it does it without you noticing.
