• I'm just a bit different where all that is concerned. Where some guys like having a roaring sound accompany their baby, I'm more impressed when they don't have to make a sound :) EDIT: Alright folks, for your patience and understanding, here's a present from me to you :) http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=893083

 •
I would actually say the second movie was as good as the first.
I agree, Actually I think it was a little better for the fact there were shriekers, Heh but as they all say, The first is ALWAYS the best. Anyone agree?

 • Not always, just take the halfquake series for example (if any of you know what I'm talking about anyway).

Well I do miss Earl, He was freakin' Awesome. I just watched the third one. Its Okay, Except for the fact that they killed off Miguel. He was cool. By the way, Never heard of Half Quake...

 • I don't really want to go off topic discussing it, but it's an AMAZING mod series for half life 1. http://www.halfquake.com/ link to main HQ page.

 • Guys, I'm really sorry, I just can't get a hold of Stratos. I don't even know if he owns his account anymore. I see him playing AVP all the time, but he never answers. I can only assume it's his stupid cousin. And naturally, I can't be online at all times. But if you guys really want things to move forward in the slightest, his steam ID is "LL_LDR_StoneHeart" I ask you to be polite, please, and just let him know I'm looking for him. Don't go being a jackass and chiding him for holding us up, it's not productive, it's not a great thank-you for the work he's put into this. I'm not putting this up so he can be pestered, I'm putting it up because often times I miss the guy by minutes after getting back from school or dinner or something.
 • I'm half wondering if his cousin got fed up with my messages and blocked communication with me, and now Stratos doesn't know, so he isn't even getting my messages when he's actually on...
 • No, he hasn't. But, being fed up with sitting here like a log in a lumber mill, I've begun some (minor) animation for the AssBlaster. I already have a walk animation for when it's not threatened, and/or hunting. I decided to make a more generic walk for when it's actually stalking something. And given the more wary nature of the much more intelligent AB, I've recently finished one of two animations for the AB sidestepping. I figure if a species of Graboid offshoot would be most likely to stalk and corner prey rather than run at it stupidly, adding a slow sidways motion to the AB's range of npc motion might be a good idea. At the very least, I'm trying to get it's ground-based animations out of the way before I do it's more complicated flying anims.

 • well, good to hear news. To bad we didn't choose a back-up texturer for if something like this would happen. :saddowns:
 • Well, since I doubt I'm ever going to even hear from Stratos again, I decided it was high time to look for more volunteers. As good as the guy's work is, it counts for nothing if it never makes it to my hard drive, and if it's going to take months while incommunicado, I hate to say, but a less skilled texturer who communicates well is worth more than a brilliant artist you can never talk to or get their textures from. On that note, I've opened a request thread looking for interested texturers. It should have all the necessary info and resources for someone to get started, aside from the models themselves to test with, which I will provide. http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=915477 Anyone who wants to try, or knows anyone who may be willing, drop me a line in that thread. The sooner the better, and the more activity that thread gets, the more likely we are of finding someone. I know request threads have a bad habit of getting no replies and sinking to the bottom before the right people get a chance to check them out, so I'll also add that if you happen to be at all proficient with ZBrush, we could always use someone who can create decent normal maps.

I was going to say if you don't you might as well wait till Stratos buys a computer that his cousin doesn't use.
 • Well, I'd be happier about it if my thread for texturer applications didn't have zero replies and wasn't steadily creeping toward page 2, like I was afraid it would.

I remember some screenshots of where the only thing that wasn't finished was the foot or the leg on the Shrieker. Edit: Nevermind I actually found it on the request thread I should read more :v: I'll see if I can finish the shrieker skin as it's almost finished anyway. But otherwise I can't really help since I'm not good at skinning things like this, if you remember my shitty skin from last time I've gotten way better. Back then I was just learning how to use GIMP and probably shouldn't have volunteered. Edit 2: Damn read that you said the official UV is different. Not sure if I'll still do it sorry :/
 • Feet, back, mouth, lots of things. I refuse to put something incomplete in a Youtube video. I can't stand this, I don't know what else to do, nobody is paying any attention to the request thread, not a single post. Is there ANYONE else with skill and reliability out there who can help?

I put Stratos's skin on the updated one and skinned the foot. I thought the foot looked good but it doesn't really look like the rest of the skin to me. If you want me to keep working on it I can. [img_thumb]http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/2747/footskin.png[/img_thumb] I still need to fix things on my skin. I need to improve the lines on the foot I tried to base off this image. They look more like cuts :/

 • Yes, Finally some progress after the demise of stratos. I looked back through the thread today and truly we have all but like 2 things to finish this project. 1.Proper programming of snpc's (silverlan was supposed to do that right?) and 2.Finished textures for the A.B., Shrieker, and grablet. I still have faith in this project.
 • Avatar of Blargtastic
 • Silver can and will do it, but since the models and textures are incomplete he is doing his own thang'.
 • Well Chicken, I can't say I especially like the idea of someone trying to complete an unfinished texture, given the original author's reference material won't likely be the same, or executed the same as yours, but I'll wait and see if you can make something of it. Personally, I think it'd be wiser to try from scratch, at least on the body regions, since I somehow doubt someone could recreate the exact look he was implementing. Anyway, I've broken out ZBrush for the Hell of it and decided to try upping the res and making some textural gouging on the Graboid model. Didn't turn out too bad, though that's about the best I can do with it. ZBrush modeling is very alien to me, like modeling entirely with the soft-select tool in 3dsmax. I'm more of a vertex guy than a sculpting guy.

 • Good news btw J-dude, I've taken up modeling :buddy: I'm currently using Blender, I doubt you don't know about it :v: I'm in very basic tutorials atm though.

 • yay for blenderheads! And I agree with you in some points jay, I do prefer poly-by-poly than sculpt, but eventually it grows on you. Especially z-brush.
 • I've been watching this thread from the beginning, and I registered just to post. I must say your work is impressive J-Dude, everything looks like their movie counterparts. I did like the movies myself, and I hope this gets finished. On a quick note, I do know Stratos and I've read about your difficulties with him. I have him as a friend on steam, talk to him daily actually. If you want me to I could contact him if you wanted, though I'm not even sure he's still working with the project or not.
