I will still call it the PSP2.
Why are companies suddenly competing to come up with the worst possible names for their devices?
Reminds me of Diablo 3. Also your title says US dollars twice. Now onto discussions; First I'd to say that as a portable gaming platform it shows promise. However, as a portable gaming platform I doubt it'll go much farther than the PSP did. The PSP hardly had any good games. I own about 10 of them, and rarely play any of them. I use mine mostly for music/video/photos and of course occasional blast from the past emulators. I'm not saying it won't sell, obviously it will. However, I don't have a lot of faith in the games.
So many names. It's confusing.
4 core ARM Cortex-A9 core processor and a 4 core SGX543MP4+ graphics processing unit
Dear god :byodood:
PSVITA, wow. Can the name be any more awkward? At least the specs make up for it.
Vee-taa
Vita may sound stupid but PSV sounds fine. Also, anyone know if the 3G will have a service cost? I assume it will, but I know some devices have free 3G.
I was surprised how good this looked. It won't stop me from buying a 3DS, but it is tempting.
I don't see the big deal with the name. I'll probably just refer to it as the PSV. Uncharted at launch? I'm glad I held out on getting a 3DS.
Wifi version only $249?? :-\

Argh, so many handhelds this time around. Don't know which one to pick. :frown:
expect att ipad data pricing 250mb for $15 2gb for $25
Thanks. I'm not sure if I should just not bother with the 3G version, or I should just get it since it's only $50 more and will give me the option to later on.
PSV is certainly showing some promise, but it still doesn't have that great of a lineup at the moment. All I can think of is Uncharted, and even then I am both not a big fan (Although I do like the games) and also never thought it was really fit for a handheld. It will probably have some good shooters and the like in the future (Now that devs can actually make FPS games without resorting to the most unintuitive control schemes ever devised due to Sony being utterly incompetent when designing the PSP), so I'll wait for those to start popping up.
Argh, so many handhelds this time around. Don't know which one to pick. :frown:
PSP is okay but games suck. PSPGo Sucks all together. DS is okay, but also limited by lack of games. PSV Looks pretty good, very powerful. Games are a hit or miss. 3DS is an okay idea, can't say I like the 3D, but there are NO games. At all. Right now I'm more inclined on getting a PSV than a 3DS. I already have a DSi and PSP-3, but the PSV seems like it upgrades enough to warrant me adding it to my collection, where as the 3DS adds 3D. That's it. I can live without 3D.
Little Big Planet looks like it was made for this device. [editline]9th June 2011[/editline]
PSP is okay but games suck. PSPGo Sucks all together. I will wait at least a year after launch before buying this or the 3DS
I can't wait for the price in Europe to be completely outrageous for about three years like with the PS3. It was like twice the US price for forever and the price didn't go down for years, which was the main reason I ended up spending the money I'd saved for one on a new computer.
Little Big Planet looks like it was made for this device. [editline]9th June 2011[/editline] What about Luigi's Mansion 2?
I was never one for Mario games after Super Mario 64. They aren't bad games, but they don't appeal to me anymore. And one game should not decide what system to get. It should be a combination of games and how they relate to your preferences. Personally Playstation has always given me the "hardcore" games I wanted. Nintendo dropped that ball years ago. Literally. The OP just typo-d the title, the second or last one should say 299 EU.
I'm pretty sure the PS Vita 3G won't need a contract, just like the Ipad.
This looks cool but I got a pretty good phone which does my handheld gaming. Dunno about this.
Price for Europe is the same as everywhere else. Literally. The OP just typo-d the title, the second or last one should say 299 EU.
Exactly. €299 is $435 £299 is $490
One thing I'm hoping for is the PSP homebrew scene to eventually move over to this.
Exactly. €299 is $435 £299 is $490
Well I'm not sure, but shouldn't $299 in Europe be just as reasonable as $299 in America? What is the minimum wage in Europe? [editline]8th June 2011[/editline]
One thing I'm hoping for is the PSP homebrew scene to eventually move over to this.
Assuming Sony makes the same mistake three times, yes. If not, yes. Where there is a device to be hacked, there is a hacker to hack it.
How many US dollars?
DS is okay, but also limited by lack of games.
..Lack of games?
According to Nintendo of America, there are over 1150 DS games available as of February 12, 2011.[1]
What's everyone's problem with 'Vita'? I think it sounds fine. I rather like it, even. Also, the price point on the Vita convinced me that Nintendo ripped me off with the 3DS. I don't regret the purchase (I love my 3DS :v:), but they're definitely overcharging for it.
..Lack of games?
Correction. Lack of any good games.
