• Why do lots of people hate steam?

I really like it! to me it's alot like D2D but it's much easier to use. Being able to download the game on any computer i want without messing with CD's or Serial keys is awesome! i like it better than xfire for friends, because in steam games, you just press shift tab and you can add someone right there, instead of asking for their username
It's really a virus :downs:
Give 5 people you know who hate steam, or your argument is invalid.
Well...20 million people don't hate steam.
I just hate how shitty it reacts if I'm not on the internet.
Give 5 people you know who hate steam, or your argument is invalid.
Well, a while back someone posted a thread that linked to the Crysis forums, and some people there hated steam because they were too stupid to figure it out.

I know several friends who don't like it. It's rather annoying, they give the; "Yeah, I want Team Fortress 2, but I don't want to have to install anything to use it at it's best." Excuse, bloody annoying :(
It encourages me to buy stuff for others.
steam fucking sucked back in the day, but i think that opinion came from still being stuck on dial up even in 2005.
I love Steam.
Remember when steam friends was a broken peice of shit? good times
Steam is really good. It means I can talk to friends and browse FP while waiting to respawn in Insurgency, and it means that patches are downloaded automatically, bit by bit rather than having to wait hours for the next mega patch to download (BF 2142, I'm looking at you here).
An entire forum of Total War players complain a ton about how steam "sucks" and supposedly ruins there game experience and I'm like wow. www.twcenter.net Go into the Empire: Total War section
The only person I know who hates steam has shitty t-mobile internets.
I just hate how shitty it reacts if I'm not on the internet.
I hate this.
I hate it because it sucks up my cpu while I'm playing cpu dependent games like TF2 causing me to lag. Otherwise its fine.
Laggy as fucking hell.
i like it better than xfire for friends, because in steam games, you just press shift tab and you can add someone right there, instead of asking for their username
Yeah sure is fun to know that 9 year olds and assholes could randomly add me at any time
Laggy as fucking hell. Yeah sure is fun to know that 9 year olds and assholes could randomly add me at any time
You still need to accept them. They can't actually message you unless you do. Oh noes some 9 year old has made a notification come up on my steam page asking to be my friend! Whatever shall I do?
Laggy as fucking hell. Yeah sure is fun to know that 9 year olds and assholes could randomly add me at any time
You're a tool.
Laggy as fucking hell. Yeah sure is fun to know that 9 year olds and assholes could randomly add me at any time
I rated you tool, you tool.
Well, a while back someone posted a thread that linked to the Crysis forums, and some people there hated steam because they were too stupid to figure it out.
I figured it out the second I looked at it. It's actually really really well done and user friendly.
If I had a choice, I wouldn't have it installed. It takes up too much memory and CPU when idling, it lags like hell all the time (windows, skins, fading, etc), and it just doesn't feel smooth...

Steam is often times a bit laggy for me but that's just because of my PC I guess. Otherwise it's a gamer's dream come true.
I just hate how shitty it reacts if I'm not on the internet.
This is the only Steam's problem.
Lots of people hate steam because they want to play one (non-valve game) and it requires steam - to them, having a program like that for just one game is redundant, useless, and it takes valuable resources. Like imagine if you wanted to play one other game but you had to install a steam like program for let's say direct2drive (not sure how their system is but whatever) and for just one game. And you have to run it when you want to play that one game. It is annoying.
direct2drive isn't really like steam at all it's pretty much just like Fileplanet's download manager
Steam is often times a bit laggy for me but that's just because of my PC I guess. Otherwise it's a gamer's dream come true.
Finally someone honest. This man actually gives in it's not steam's fault. You're the first one in thousands.

Even my fucking netbook can run it without any problems at all.
