I propose we seperate the DF threads based on their versions, incarnation and amount of threads. Dwarf Fortress V1.2.10 would mean that it's the 1st thread of the 2nd incarnation of Dwarf Fortress VX (1-9 have been about 40d, the 2nd incarnation would be DF2010) and 10 posts all together. Dwarf Fortress V5.6.20 would indicate that there's been 5 threads based on the 6th incarnation (5 versions after 40d) and all together there'd been 20 DF threads. OR we could just have it as V10, I don't know.
I have no idea what you're saying. Let's just call it V10
STEP ONE OF THE PYRAMID HAS BEEN COMPLETED! Facts about the Pyramid: - It's approximately 23 tiles wide at the base, and 11 tiles high. - Since the entire thing is solid as a mountain, the entire thing took 2290 Dolomite blocks and 35 bars of Gold to construct. - I lost around 7 hours of my life on this pyramid alone, painstakingly constructing every block and placing it at just the right angle. - The lowest floor will be slightly hollowed out as is the plan to construct a massive burial chamber. - The second highest point will be slightly hollowed out to allow 4 Platinum statues to be placed, each acting as eternal sentinels on the land (one for NSWE.) STEP TWO... UNDER CONSTRUCTION What will be done in Step 2: - Hollow out the base. - Construct and place the Eternal Sentinels. - Construct the six Steel Obelisks (will require 300 bars of steel in total.)
Mind posting the save so I can get myself killed in adventure mode? Oh if i do make it to the burial chamber I'm gonna throw my barf at your queens corpse. :smug:

So I'm gonna download this. What do
,but when you abandon the fortress and reach it there as an adventurer wouldn't all those items be thrown around or maybe destroyed?
Not sure, it adds to the element of chance though.
Upon arrival, you will see the items you left behind randomly flung about, buildings will be either destroyed or unclaimed, and all objects will be aged according to how long the place has been abandoned, so food will mostly be rotten or gone and dead bodies too will be rotting, bones or gone.
Well it happens when you reclaim it a fortress I just hope that the armor and weapon isn't just laying in front of the entrance :v:
Trust me, it hurts less then being attacked by a Giant Eagle 30 minutes into the game.
Giant Eagles are panzies, I was fighting off 3 or 4 werewolfs when I got attacked by an eagle, it got eaten by my spiders like a giant fly.
This gives me an idea. The pyramid is right next to a brook, I think I'll plan on rigging the entire burial chamber with pressure plates that releases the brook into the burial chamber if stepped on, so it'll be a race against time as you try to get back to the surface while the entire thing is quickly filling up with water.
I started a new adventurer, when I checked his starting clothes, he was dressed head to toe in cat leather, topped off by a cat leather turban, I imagine the tail being still attached, like an arabic coon skin cap.

I'm starting my second fortress. Wish me luck.
I don't know, the Obelisks don't look right (I do not have access to obsidian) should I make them thinner (6 tiles high, 1x1 thick, instead of 6 tiles high, 3x3 thick.) This pretty much bankrupted my fortresses supply of coal, since it took around 285 bars of Steel to make this.
Needs more gold.
I think obelisks should be thinner than that. [editline]07:07PM[/editline] Plus, golden tops like the pyramid's would make them look cooler
I noticed that you have it as a completely vertical column instead of it slightly tapering into the small pyramind, but judging from the tile sizes around it it looks like that wouldn't be possible to do without ruining the tip. Unless of course you made them bigger.
Now how do you like this guys? There's a metal for every layer, it starts from steel, to silver, to gold, to finally platinum in the burial chamber.
Much better.
I just realized that when the new version gets released, I will only be able to play for two days, then I am going on a trip :saddowns: [editline]11:14PM[/editline] And awesome pyramid, Canu
Awesome, really a lot better
Possibly the best (read: worst) image to put on a MUG, of all things.

[editline]12:20AM[/editline] Hey whats that?
Part of the "Eternal Sentinels." Basically, there are 4 high-grade Platinum Statues at the second highest point of the pyramid (effectively looking over the entire map) which I call The Eternal Sentinels. There is one Eternal Sentinel for each compass direction of the map, symbolically keeping watch for enemies of the fortress and thieves of the pyramid. In my fortresses lore, the four Eternal Sentinels were the first (and greatest) of the four champions that I received; two swordsdwarves and two axedwarves. They earned their fame when they aided a marksdwarf in taking down a Dragon, only to help take down a 20 goblin siege by themselves. [editline]10:19PM[/editline] Has the... Has the thread died?
Don't think so. I had a fort going earlier... found magma... found mithril (playing on Dig Dwarfier), and I had gotten my fortress running rather smoothly. I had 7 champions, all with legendary +5 wrestling, training in various weapon skills. Next thing I knew, ORC SIEGE!. So I order my dorfs inside, raise the draw bridge, and begin making an impassible hallway of weapon traps... that turned out to be very passable 0.o Yup. All of my champions died, so I made EVERYONE into a recruit. All 50-ish dorfs. Of course, by the time the Orcs decide to leave, I've got around 5 dorfs left counting Children and babies. That means that the Orcs were driven off by one last Dorf. This last one threw a tantrum and killed the babies after the Orcs began to retreat... effectively ending the fortress when a triceratops decided it was angry at him and stomped his face into the dirt.
Just because no one responds for a bit does not mean the thread had died
I'm still surprised my Fortress has lasted this long. It's been almost 5 years in-game. I thank the ability to take whatever I please from Human and Elf caravans. Lots of imported wood. :buddy:
My fortresses usually last about 10 years before I get bored and destroy them.
Just because no one responds for a bit does not mean the thread had died
I'm concerned for this thread :ohdear:
I'm concerned for this thread :ohdear:
,but DF '10 is coming out soon you know its gonna be filled with post in a matter of seconds with people goin g"BLARGH FOUND HFS WITH THE FIRST DIG".

Speaking of which, does anyone have a recommendation for a mega-construct I should build? I'm willing to do anything from The Citadel, to the Dark Tower of Barad-dûr (Would love to do this one, it's the tower Sauron's eye is on) to even a re-creation of Orzammar.
