Rexen, Doom's Mod Merge is a SoC mod. Also, perhaps, a little description to go with each?
Doom's Mod Merge is a merge and rebalancing of several SoC mods that deletes the main storyline and replaces it with a freeplay system, allowing the player to spawn as a rookie of any faction, and adds a faction war feature similar to CS (although much more basic). Adds new anomalies, quests, weapons (LURK 1.1), improved AI, new names, graphical changes and sounds.
Like that, but better written. [editline]1st February 2012[/editline] dammit, ninja'd again
Me being the awesome Monolith dude, I figured , I could go deep in enemies territory, kill everyone who's not my bro and looting everything, then selling it, then killing the buyer. Now, I'm in Garbage, behind this excavator under fire. 13 enemies on radar, shit. Time is 2300 and rain. Enemy at front knows my position and is alerted. I start shooting with my newly looted AK from the right side. Still shooting. And, oh my fucking god, this AK mod uses 7.62x39 ammo. I had only half magazine in inventory. FUCK! Suddenly, a motherfucking bandit, flanks me from left, USING WAR TACTICS AGAINST ME. Hits me in the back. 10% of life left. In pain, I get the secondary weapon, PB-6P9 - it needs a reload. Can't be arsed doing that. Took a knife and stabbed him in the face. Bandit was carrying a standard AK. Nice. Feeling the Monolith brothers are speaking to me. Get on killing spree, shoot on sight, medkit on damage, grenades on masses. MONOLITH AM INVULNERABLE!! My quest on eradicating non-believing scum from Zone continues... Loadout: SIG SG 550 (god's gun), AK74 (never failing machine) and PB-6P9 with teh silencer for those situations. P.S. Did not read what I wrote, too excited.
We have hello kitty AKs, grenade launchers, rocket launchers, chimeras, miniguns, drugs, porn and Nimble. Metro ain't got shit on stalker.
Nimble? I hope you meant to write Scar Scar best Stalker of all stalkers! (Until he was captured and brainwashed by the monolith)
Doom's mod is for SoC not CoP :v:
Whoops silly me. Updated the section and threw in Redux.
I hate it when I get home and suddenly there's a new thread :v:
Woah new thread.

Set after the events of CS, it currently lacks a cohesive storyline, but presents a reasonably immersive and fun experience. Adds new weapons, joinable factions, a small xp system, companions, helicopters, and more! Updates are infrequent but big. Become a loner by reaching 1500 xp, before you ask.
What other famous mods for CS are there? Checklist wot I can think of for all games: - People Soup? - Complete Series? (for the sake of completeness, no pun intended) - MISERY? - LURK? - AMK (Definitely) - Lost Alpha? [editline]1st February 2012[/editline] SGM is not well designed. It is fun and cool, but not well designed.
Are you implying People Soup is well designed? also OGSM is reasonably famous for Clear Sky. Also the Zone Reclamation Project for SoC.
I would never do such a thing! Never heard of OGSM, but I'll take your word for it. RMA is another one. Who had the link to that?
It's really a personal opinion after playing SGM, but for the sake of not arguing I'll edit it. Horrible page king, have an Abakan:
It's really a personal opinion after playing SGM, but for the sake of not arguing I'll edit it.
Nah, it doesn't matter. I just still have flashbacks to that fucking barge mission.
Nah, it doesn't matter. I just still have flashbacks to that fucking barge mission.
Aside from that painful mission which took luck (in the NPC's not getting fucked over) rather than skill, the Alpha squads and factions were pretty cool.
sweet, just got the redux random weapon system fixed, npcs now actually use the addons they spawn with on their weapons rather than them hanging around in their inventory.
sweet, just got the redux random weapon system fixed, npcs now actually use the addons they spawn with on their weapons rather than them hanging around in their inventory.
Is there still rookie bandits with RPGs?
Aside from that painful mission which took luck (in the NPC's not getting fucked over) rather than skill, the Alpha squads and factions were pretty cool.
Yeah, I'm not denying that, but things like "a controller that stops you from using your weapons", rather than presenting an additional challenge to the player by removing the usual set of tools he uses to solve problems, just feels arbitrary and irritating. SGM adds much needed content to SGM, but it feels like the creator is more interested in adding new stuff to the mod than balancing the old stuff.
sweet, just got the redux random weapon system fixed, npcs now actually use the addons they spawn with on their weapons rather than them hanging around in their inventory.
do any of the attachments apart from silencers actually do anything in the hands of NPCs?
I would never do such a thing! Never heard of OGSM, but I'll take your word for it. RMA is another one. Who had the link to that?
http://www.amk-team.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=10631 RMA is hardly well known though - less so than OGSM, really. Which is a shame, as it's one of the most... 'complete' SoC mods I've seen in ages, in terms of bugginess (or lack thereof) and features.
sweet, just got the redux random weapon system fixed, npcs now actually use the addons they spawn with on their weapons rather than them hanging around in their inventory.
I will never forget that bandit with a grenade launcher that rained death upon Zaton. Scariest 2 minutes of my life.
Yeah, that's how I feel about SGM now that I'm near the end. It's great for adding content and more things to do, but overall I think it pales compared to things like Redux or Misery that change up the gameplay in a more balanced way. SGM still felt kinda like vanilla COP, but those 2 and mods like it feel like they change the game at a more fundamental level.
I finally beat SoC for the first time! X-18 was terrifying with just an IL-86
RMA is another one. Who had the link to that?
Also, here is BuddieBBB's translation for it : http://www.mediafire.com/?4goungodxzdfmbg
do any of the attachments apart from silencers actually do anything in the hands of NPCs?
I'd like to know this one too. Especially since some mods enable the NPCs to use underbarrel grenade launchers attached to the weapons, it'd be interesting to know if Redux will use such and A.I plugin. Also one thing I've been wondering : Do any of you modders know if the NPCs use Nightvision ? I mean, does any of the games make the NPCs with NVG-enabling suits to see better in the dark than those without ?
I decided to try out the Lurk mod for Shadow of Chernobyl and uh, wow that's alot of bloom.
I decided to try out the Lurk mod for Shadow of Chernobyl and uh, wow that's alot of bloom.
FAAAAAAAAAABULOUUUUUUUUUUUS bloom.
no NPCs don't actually use addons for weapons really unfortunately, and things like NV don't change anything
Is there a mod that exists whereby you don't find an automatic until about 2-3 hours in? I'm tired of playing and finding an AK-74 within the first half hour only to find every NPC with them afterwards, and never seeing a pistol being used again.
no NPCs don't actually use addons for weapons really unfortunately, and things like NV don't change anything
you could do what the guy who made MSO did and made NPCs that spawn with NV capable armor better vision in darkness, and npcs that spawn with scoped weapons greater view distance. Kind of cheating but it achieves the same effect.
