For those of you who have read Southern Comfort, I'm in the middle of the book about, and have a question. When Tarasov, Ilchenko, and Squirrel are heading to find Mac, who's the man they asked to guide them to the factory? What's so significant about him? I must have misread something, but it just sounded like a random guy living in a cave in the middle of nowhere...
Use spoiler tags next time, but yeah [sp]He's a russian soldier who fought in the soviet afghan war in the 80's, so I guess he reminds tarasov of his father or something?[/sp]
Oh man, I should have listened to Sid in OGSE when he said the stalkers at the rookie camp wouldn't trust me. I walked up to them and they shot me. :v:

And then 5 rookies with sawn-offs shot me instantly, all the while Wolf stood by and just stared at me whilst I was gunned down.
You'd need some AI on a par with a human player to stop that from getting annoying, though. It's not like Strelok or whoever is the only competent Stalker in the Zone - if you don't do it, someone else will, and that someone else is likely to be just as skilled as the PC.
In the earlier builds wasn't it intended that there would be rival stalkers who could actually "complete the game" before you if you messed around too much on the side? In a way it'd make sense, stalkers are pretty resourceful guys, so I don't doubt *someone* could've made it into the inner Zone eventually if it wasn't Strelok.

The thing about the beta super-AI was that he made fighting much more annoying according to GSC's devs. Some modders found out that one of the remains of it's code are CS and SoC's grenade throwing NPCs. Basically imagine the maximum difficutly worms from Worms Armageddon, except posing as stalkers.
Is that AI in any of the old builds?
BTR in OGSE is the best thing. It actually has a gun! With its own aimbot!

If mods add it back in I tend to disable it, it's just too much hassle. I get bad flashbacks to playing World at War on Veteran. Grenades, grenades everywhere.
[editline]19th February 2012[/editline] iPhone's camera is like shit
You need to tap the image on the camera first to adjust the sharpness. Then the pictures get pretty decent. Took me a while to figure that out too :v:
I still can't get to the military outpost, those fucking turrets ain't leaving me alone. Oh wait, now I have a legitimate long-range weapon: the crossbow. It's seriously the shit for medium-long range encounters, a headshot will kill any human enemy including exos and it's completely silent. You start feeling like a ninja with that.
You need to tap the image on the camera first to adjust the sharpness. Then the pictures get pretty decent. Took me a while to figure that out too :v:
I'm so sorry, but i don't really know what you mean by "tap the image on the camera" :(
I'm so sorry, but i don't really know what you mean by "tap the image on the camera" :(
Point the camera at the image. Tap the screen, the camera will focus. [editline]19th February 2012[/editline] at least that's what I assume, I don't have an iphone
Well, fuck. The Jupiter Plant is giving me heart attacks [editline]19th February 2012[/editline] If the Jupiter Plant gives my heart attacks, will i be able to survive the Pripyat underground tunnels and X8?
If the Jupiter Plant gives my heart attacks, will i be able to survive the Pripyat underground tunnels and X8?
The tunnels aren't so bad, unless you're deathly afraid of Snorsks and hamsters. X8 is... worse.
CoP's Jupiter Plant is when you combine all of Amnesia with worm food. The underpass has it's moments but it's mood is broken a ton of times because voice actors. X8 is a bit more intense than Jupiter but after a few moments you'll realize that going MAN MODE on everything makes it more fun and easier.

So I'm playing Misery. Out of ammo, zombies everywhere. I like where this is going.
So I'm playing Misery. Out of ammo, zombies everywhere. I like where this is going.
What spec did you choose?
;34769977']What spec did you choose?
Recon. Are you implying I should run away like a pussy?
Recon. Are you implying I should run away like a pussy?
Nope. Find basic and fine tools and get the upgrade for your VSK that changes the calibre to 5.45 Your life gets easier by a ton, trust me. Remember those army cars with tons of 5.45 ammo in the Zaton bridge? They're still there.

Recon is pretty good given all the bonuses related to sunrise suit, and to the INFINITE SPRIIIIINT. [editline]19th February 2012[/editline] Also I forgot where the second basic tools kit is.
Oh my god thank you.
Oh, and getting energy recovery upgrades to a SEVA or something really helps you by a ton.
Nah I already got that one
Sawmill attic, then.
Pffft, upgrading the carrying weight of sunrise suit and then going with ~20kg stuff in your backpack, you can sprint for ages. Add in the easily gained night star and vo~la, infinite sprint. Also SKS is awesome [editline]19th February 2012[/editline]
The train car with the moving electro anomaly, unless it's changed from Vanilla.
Nah I already got that one
Nah I already got that one
You mean the Tier 2 tool kits ? Substation workshops with Hatchet's mercs and the small fenced area of the Jupiter Plant west of the Concrete Bath anomaly.
X8 is... worse.
Seriously, I was kinda creeped out in X8 until [sp]the canned baby crying killed my mood with it's sheer "Boo! Haunted house!"-flavour[/sp] and I have seen some veterans stalker streamers lose their shit in X8. The streamer had previously basically went through X18 like it was nothing, yet was very jumpy and nervous at X8. I think it can be attributed to the confusing layout of the lab and the fact that you cannot see the [sp]Poltergeist[/sp] that is throwing stuff at you unless you know where it's hiding.
