Dude we were talking about during the beta, everyone knows it wipes on launch, we meant weekend to weekend. And yes, its pretty dumb that everyone has the same items in pvp, there is like no progression in this game due to that and all the scaling, ya you can argue pvp shouldnt be about gear but gear should still matter. If I played the game a lot and got great gear I want it to matter, I dont want some level 1 being on par with a level 80. Its honestly like, why even bother leveling or even putting in effort to get good gear if you can just join pvp and have the same gear and all traits and skills unlocked.
WvW would like to have a word with you.

The progression you have is AESTHETIC in the form of new, better looking gear (with the same stats) as well as titles. If GW2 had PvP where it was gear based, i probably wouldn't PvP just because i don't have the time to get myself geared to do well enough. That's why I had to quit playing WoW was because it was 100% gear based Plus, in WvW gear does matter even if you get scaled to 80. Your stats still make a difference as well as the utilities etc. that you have unlocked. SPvP should be about skill and how well you can adapt to different situations and all that jazz, not about putting hundreds of hours into your character and getting him geared better than the other people. That's just fucking stupid
That is only for SPvP, and you get points you can spend on items (I forget if cosmetic only or not) that you can take back into the world. WvW would like to have a word with you.
What is SPvP? I just want PVP like in the first one, where nothing changed and it was a simple like 10v10.
Why cant they just include a mode where gear transfers over though for those who like to see our PvE accomplishment matter in PvP?
It's called World VS World. This isn't that complicated guys...
What is SPvP?
Structured PvP. You know, the one where you fight in a CP style game mode on an even playing field with everyone else?
Why cant they just include a mode where gear transfers over though for those who like to see our PvE accomplishment matter in PvP?
That is what WvW is for.
Why cant they just include a mode where gear transfers over though for those who like to see our PvE accomplishment matter in PvP?
Probably because they feel like it's a waste of their time. They have a structured PvP game mode which right now is balanced incredibly well for a beta and is some of the best PvP i've seen in an MMO. They also have WvW, which i know isn't the same and i know you're asking for a SPvP where your gear matters, but in WvW your gear does matter. If you really want to PvP and have the difference not based on skill but based on how many hours you've put into your character then go play WvW and run around with a small group fighting other small groups or something
ninjad And my automerge.

If I want to going around a level 1 area as an 80 and 1 shot things then there should be an option so I dont scale. I dont want to be scaled down a level 3 so I can do the same quests I have done 1000 times already, I want to be level 80 and 1 shot shit.

Even scaled in WvW, if you have level 80 gear it'll make a difference (atleast on my warrior) of about 6,000HP and i'll be hitting with my main weapon just regular attack for about 300 more damage. That's a pretty big difference if you ask me

[editline]29th April 2012[/editline] Why would they scale you down in the first place?
I edited, I meant scaled up in WvW* Also, in regards to scaling DOWN for PvE, they did that because they still want the lower level quests or even the medium level quests (40-60) to still be challenging even if you're level 80. Maybe they put a lot of work in to a really great storyline on some quests in the level 40 range and it's a big drawn out thing and totally awesome, you don't want someone who's level 80 just blowing through the whole thing. That would ruin the experience. At least if you're scaled down you'll still find some of the quests a little challenging

You will hit a little harder and have a little more health than a level 5 but will still be pretty much equal. The only reason pve gear will matter is level 80 content which apparently there wont be a lot of.
Did you even go on the fucking site and read the articles about this?
No but link them, because I hope I am wrong about this with PvE.

I will try and find a couple more for you. It is so content does NOT get stale. You will still be fucking powerful at 80 when scaled in Shaemoor, for example, compared to someone who is a fresh level 3 and doing content in that area. You are still more powerful, but not more so where you can just obliterate everything in a 3 mile radius with one AoE effect. It is so content is still challenging for you. (I don't know where you are getting the impression where it would be more fun if you could, that just sounds even more boring.)
The only thing i have hated about this beta was in the instanced pvp you could only use specific weps, no greatsword for warrior /feelsbadman :(
yes you can! 1) heart of mists 2) walk to the right 3) free pvp weapon and weapon upgrade sigils. edit: i'm also tied between charr engi/warrior...
I am going to be heading for bed soon, so might as well finish off the beta with my perspective. Necromancer was fun. Not loads of up front damage, but just annoyed multiple people with loads of aoe conditions. Engineer was okay. Damage was lackluster, and the flamethrower was hard to use due to the flame at times shooting off to the side due to how my toon handled it (sometimes would hold it in the "neutral position, resulting in the flame plume being 90 degrees away from where it should be). The turrets were meh. As a last ditch attempt to try and find something that I truly loved, I gave the warrior a shot. I had done the human starting area to death, so I tried the Charr. HO-LY SHIT WAS IT AS FUN AS HELL. I spent 5-9pm blasting everyone to bits in Kyloh battlefield with my rifle, and cutting them to bits with sword/shield. It is everything I hoped the engineer had, and more. The story was interesting and fresh, and the characters were lovably retarded at times (Steelbane was the classic "giving a dumbass a high ranking position in the army" scenario. [sp] I ended up killing him off, since the Charr are about shunning weak links, and I wasn't in the mood to fight his band of rebels that he would gather if I spared him to try and overthrow me. Good night sweet prince, may angels sing thee to thy rest. [/sp]) WvW was ultra frustrating at times, as I had the unfortunate event of the entire enemy group charging at me when I was alone, but still fun with all the siege engines. (I ended up leaving anvil rock with all the lag, instead made home at scavengers causeway.) The only thing that bugs me is that people are expecting everything to be perfect. In a beta. :suicide: Other than that, A++ Game would beta test again.
what legion?
what legion?
blood
i actually got to play for a bit today and i really enjoyed engineer, don't see much problems with it. i dunno maybe it's just me
Took some shots with Bullet and Lance: [t]http://i50.tinypic.com/2rgz5o2.jpg[/t] [t]http://i48.tinypic.com/2ihp6pd.jpg[/t] [t]http://i47.tinypic.com/xpcvhg.jpg[/t] [t]http://i49.tinypic.com/oiawbq.jpg[/t] I have the HR versions saved, gonna do something with them later.
Good times. I'll post some of mine later.
Talking to an ANet employee ingame. He said the level cap for the beta is actually 80, but they only have content up to level ~25ish in the beta at the moment. He also said he's not 100% sure if they are wiping the levels after this weekend or just before release after all the weekends

The event got so damn laggy that nothing moved for a solid minute. Needless to say I didn't stay around :c
I have to go to college and wont be back in time to finish the beta It's been a great weekend, shame it's over ):
I had loads of fun, cant wait for the next beta weekend. Game is absolutely fantastic. I had fun playing as an engineer.

That Charr must be really excited.
Glad I was able to try this out this weekend, probably the only game I felt good about spending $60 on, and it's not even out yet.
just got kicked
Well I guess that's it...
And it's gone.... IT WAS FUCKING GREAT
