Who is interested in seeing the sun return to the world when I update to 1.3? I'm really going to miss the atmosphere from the Age of Darkness.
Maybe a little late but I can't even find an exit to the faction base I'm in because its walled and protected so well,
Might be ours, if you built the small dirt tower that I can only assume was to jump over the lowest part of our wall (and prompted a complete finishing of the entrance and entrance/wall roof).
Is this because of the update or is it me?
If you updated the client, then that's your problem, try getting back to a 1.2.5 jar if possible.
Who is interested in seeing the sun return to the world when I update to 1.3? Though I wouldn't mind seeing the constant need to wear leather going away, I would miss the rift events that occur and terth's handle over the world.
I can't connect Internal exception: java.net.socketexception: connection reset Is this because of the update or is it me?
Did you update? Don't update.
Maybe a little late but I can't even find an exit to the faction base I'm in because its walled and protected so well, and I enjoyed bringing some leather to help out new players that just joined, now that's not really feasible since I can't go back and forth between spawn and our base. I still think a limit of the amount of /home you could use would be nice, even if its just one a day.
*The exit is to the far right, you will see the doors ;)*
Personally, I wouldn't mind 'The Age of Nether' Dirt, previously common, is replaced with netherrack and soul sand. Nether Mobs spawn normally, which means ghasts and blazes and lava slimes. This is in addition to the undead horde summoned by Terth. The sun has returned as well, blazing with a terrible fire. Prolonged exposure to daylight causes damage. This could be accomplished by replacing 'Cursed' zones with 'Nether' Zones, where all these things are prone to happen. The rest of the world could be stuck in the age of darkness, while the nether zones are filled with perpetual daylight. Or something like that. Personally, I like the feeling the age of darkness gives. Its very...calm i guess? Everything feels dangerous...Like a promise of destruction un-fufilled, while the world waits with bated breath.
If you do return us to a peaceful age, at the very least, we should have a large event, potentially the destruction of either ironhammer, or terth, or the potential for both, with both outcomes having different consequences. With the destruction of Iron Hammer could come the Age of Nether, or with the destruction of Terth, the sun returns, melting all the unnatural snow, and Ice, flooding the land under a sea that spurrs trade and large port cities. edit: I just re-read that, I need to come up with more synonyms for destruction.
*The exit is to the far right, you will see the doors ;)*
Oh so that's what it was, looks nice. [editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] And I really like the Age of Nether idea, and the one that was pretty much waterworld. Dangit. I just updated my game. Any way to get legacy versions? I haven't played MC for a while :v:.
A possible end to the age of darkness could be the great flood mentioned previously as well, caused by the melting ice and snow.
The Age of Thawing
So the next age.. I can almost confirm that we'll see the return of a day & night cycle and normal weather patterns. Or, the alternative is we can keep it night and the snowfall going and commit to the end of daylight thing. The lore behind the Age of Darkness was that the sun died and the world froze over. So if we were to commit to that the world would stay as it is, a wasteland. It's a hard topic. The real issue is keeping things interesting for the players but at the same time I really wanted the Age of Darkness to have real consequences on the world. If daylight returns and the snowfall ends I think it might ruin what we had going there. Any thoughts? (and no, I don't think flooding the world is a good idea :v:)

But every single person i have talked to who plays on the server thinks the awsome implications a flooded world like in Waterworld(shit movie cool concept/visuals) Would be. (me included :v) Other idea would be that now that the sun is back its too hot and deserts n shit everywhere.
I'd imagine a compromise would be to replace all low-lying and coastal lands with swamps. The melting ice widened rivers and raised the watertable until the ground all about turned to mires and quagmires. It'll keep the slightly dark and wild theme while at the same time not flooding over a lot of stuff, and leaving it open to exploration.
That was an amazing start, starving to death just before I could place my bed :v:.
Need some help, then?
Drakortha, you could try updating your .jar with the newest 1.3 dev build, it should work with any plugins, because as far as I'm aware, not much has changed.
If the sun is to be reborn, some real hard shit should be achieved to make that happen. Like killing a mega-rift, or a god itself? If the sun is to stay dead (I'm fine with the cold and darkness, it is pretty unique afterall), there could be warm underground habitats forming, perhaps from meteorite impacts or volcanic activity. Oh wait, there could be volcanoes everywhere. That'd sure bring some warmth without any sunlight.
I just noticed that SOMEHOW our secret chest had been found and we lost all our valuble minerals(gold diamonds iron) I have a feeling someone unclaimed the land and shenanigans happen. Would be neat if a admin could help.

I'm trying to join the server but I keep getting the "Internal exception: java.netSocketException: Connection reset" error. How might I go about fixing this?
Are you using 1.2.5?
Nope, 1.3.1.
I can only find 'how 2 pritae minecfat!!' links when looking for the old 1.2.5 jar, can someone provide a reliable link that isn't a cracked copy?

It's always a bit messy when Minecraft updates. Don't worry, we'll get through this. :suicide:
Planning on waiting for the stable release to come out (probably in a couple days or weeks) to start updating it, or are you going to try updating with 1.3.1 in the next week?

I haven't decided on what to do yet. All I need is some time
Underwater ruins would be really cool. It would be like Wind Waker or Waterworld.
this server is very easy on the eyes and the player base is decent.
