I can't really enjoy Skyrim, I don't know what but I feel that all the characters in the universe are just boring and generic and it gets repetitive quickly. I can't really decide what is most fun to play as either, mage, warrior or rogue.
You shouldn't be playing any of those, honestly. Skyrim's whole reason of removing classes was exactly that, just be yourself and do what you want. You might find it to be a bit more fun after doing that. I'm currently playing an High-Elf with a mix of Heavy/Light armor, 2-Handed Melee, but also occasional magic and archery and I sneak where I can.

I'll try playing a warrior of some kind again, they seem to be the most simple types of characters to just enjoy games with.

Installing mods and about to play Skyrim for the first time in months, any suggestions?

Live another life definitely
No, my point was to focus on Destruction and One-Handed, but keep versatility by keeping a bow handy.
I feel like dwemer architecture is so 50's with it
Yeah I'll probably do a spell-sword. Do you think a 1h mace would work? [editline]6th May 2012[/editline] Also I should use heavy armor since I'm not gonna block anything right? Or should I go for robes n stuff?
Great, now this thread will be arguing weather Skyrim is good or not.
so we shouldn't discuss the game on a forum?
Yeah I'll probably do a spell-sword. Do you think a 1h mace would work? Robes + heavy armor gauntlets, boots, and helmet works pretty good, but eventually enemies are gonna start doing a lot more damage, so you might want to invest in enchanting also, so that you can get the regeneration bonus from robes and put it on some heavy armor.

Lore friendly.
skyrim nexus if broken beyond repair
I find that dwemer ruins look better as stone. I looked at that mod that changed the textures and it might be more lore-friendly or something, but the vanilla ones look better.
I wouldn't exactly say that stone ruins in skyrim is expressly "lore-unfriendly" as there's nothing that says they have to be made of metal... separate group of dwarves. Mostly comes down to preference.
I've found some Morrowind GOTY discs. Today is a good day. [editline]6th May 2012[/editline] No manual though. It didn't require a CD key when installing, did it? It's been a while.
No, it just requires the CD when launching. [editline]6th May 2012[/editline] Just installed LGNPC and MCA. 10bux I've fucked up...
Can I suggest we make a sort of compilation of the best/recommended mods for Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim to go in the OP? It'd probably cut down on the amount of people asking what mods they should get for the games.
No, it's loaded up fine - and pretty quickly as well. Probably need to double-check the mods have actually loaded with Wyre Mash...
So, anything else I should get before playing Skyrim after a lengthy downtime? Arrowsmith Improved Skill Books Some old Lore-friendly armor pack Weapons of the Third Era (last update before it was removed when I was playing last) Slaughterfish Genocide (my own mod, fuck slaughterfish) Sounds of Skyrim - Wilds/Dungeons House Map Markers Dynamic Merchants Fixed Followers Lite Chopping Blocks/Wood Fires Fix Legible Road Signs SkyUI Better Dynamic Snow Enhanced Distant Terrain Magic Scaling Dynamic TimeScale Naturalistic Werewolves Skyforge Map Marker Auto Unequip Arrows Tri Night Eye Bandolier Live Another Life
If you hate the slaughterfish in skyrim you should try morrowind. Cliff racers of the ocean. Step into the water and every slaughterfish for a 2 mile radius senses your corrupting presence in the ocean and descends to annoy you asunder.
Urgh, I really like how in Skyrim you can join all kinds of faction. But it is dumb that you can join for instance the Companions, Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, Empire or Stormcloacks, Foresworn, Deadric cults and such all in one. It somewhat breaks immersion. I always make different characters for each.

I just have this thing about water and it seems to translate into current gen video games.

Removing classes only served to remove character focus.
I absolutely despise Skyrim's leveling system. Removing classes only served to remove character focus.
It might be a problem if you have no self-restraint at all. If you wan't to play as a warrior but you keep leveling Destruction higher than one-handed, maybe you should play a mage instead, because its telling you that you're using magic more than anything.
Lore friendly.
So that's how Ogrims look in Skyrim...
SMIM makes tomatoes look fucking delicious!
The Nightingale armour sans hood looks a lot like Batman's armour.
I absolutely despise Skyrim's leveling system. Removing classes only served to remove character focus.
But that was because they were making it more organic and realistic with freedom. In real-life I am not a "warrior, mage, or archer". Or in a more realistic term. I am learning Game Level Design, while learning Texturing and also Animating. Life doesn't work on classes, and Skyrim is a step in the right-direction, its all about freedom. You can still focus in only Heavy Combat, but now you're not screwed if you wanted to dabble and learn other things. Just like in real life.
