NEW TRAILER, CLASS 3 IS RENAMED STATE OF DECAY
State of Decay and Class4 are Two games that place you in the world of a zombie Apocalypse. Basically you and a few people can go around a town and Build a fortress up, Raid local stores and stuff for supplies and food, and hold out against zombie hordes. It will be a Online open world too. State of Decay Is planned for a XBLA-Exclusive Release since it's being published with Microsoft Game Studios. Undead Labs Official Website, Showcasing concept art and More about both games: http://undeadlabs.com/ Interview with one of the devs: http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/03/undead-labs-class3-to-serve-as-precursor-for-mmo-focused-class/
While going down the fact sheet for Undead Labs' Microsoft-published XBLA title (codenamed) Class3, a certain something seems to be missing: Any mention of the "MMO" classification. Considering the gaming lineage of studio founder Jeff Strain, ArenaNet co-founder and former World of Warcraft lead programmer -- not to mention Undead Labs' late 2009 mission statement to create an "MMOZ" -- an absence of the genre's mention seems a bit odd. Strain recently explained to us the avoidance of the subject: Class3 will not play host to the "online world" features envisioned by the developer -- but Class4 will. "What we've decided to do is take that first step," Strain explained. "We're going place a marker along the path, and release this game we're calling Class3, that has all of the fundamental points in terms of the way you interact with the world, the way your character progresses, the way you establish outposts, the way define your goals in the game, the way you fight zombies and the way they fight you -- the minute by minute core of the game will all be there in Class3. The only thing it won't have is the massive player participation the sequel will have." Strain said both his studio and Microsoft Game Studios, are excited to bring an online game to the typically MMO-averse console. He explained, "right now, the plan is certainly that we'll continue working with them moving from the open world Class3 game to the online world Class4 game." He added that the former of the two titles is necessary, saying Undead Labs "wants to get something in the hands of gamers early," to develop both interest and feedback for how the "full scale online world" would shape up. "Really what it comes down to is we just don't think saying a game is an MMO or an online world is enough," Strain added. "To make it fun, you have to make sure you have a fun game first. We're really focused on getting that core experience in place first." Strain also mentioned that online game subscription fees on the already subscription fee'd Xbox Live Gold platform are "not possible," and that the studio's still deciding on a way to monetize Class4. As far as a release timeline, Strain said the launch of Class3 should make development much easier, explaining, "our expectation is that will allow us to develop Class4 in about half the time it would normally take us to develop a full online world game." For more information on Undead Labs' first step towards achieving its MMOZ dream, check out our full interview with Strain later today. I really hope it's good when it comes out.
Shit yes!
Sounds fucking awesome! Wish they made a PC version, cause I don't have an X-box.
Also, the Game Devs do not want to classify this as a MMO or anything like that for some reason, so i thought this section would do.
Console exclusivity :frog:
Console exclusivity :frog:
One of those times im glad to have a 360 :buddy:
Loads are people are disappointed that it will be a xbox live arcade release, sounds really good though
Cautiously optimistic, but damn, another zombie game?
Is it a First or Third person view? I hope it's a First Person View, the more lack of Perception would make it much more scary.
Finally.
No PC? poop. Other than that, I had my hope up quite some time and I got decieved waaaay too often. So, wait and see.
Not just console exclusive guys, its Microsoft Xbox Live Arcade Game from Microsoft, a Microsoft Game studios Game Exclusive to the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Xbox Live only found on a home entertainment center powerful enough which is only the Microsoft Xbox 360 now with Microsoft Kinect exclusivley for the Microsoft Xbox 360.
This is going to be really bad, I'm willing to stake everything on it.
I hope they come up with a better name.
"Class3 Is planned for a XBLA-Exclusive Release since it's being published with Microsoft Game Studios." Microsoft games used to be cool. That is, until Xbox came along, since some of Microsofts idiot like every company has them, is an asshole that think PC gaming is dieing out.
Xbox-exclusive. :frog:
But I guess since that game appeared now some other company will make something similar. Its like a trigger. I'd love a serious zombie survival sandbox rpg singleplayer game. With serious I mean no things like DRII, not that I don't like it, I just would love such a serious game for once. I'd love it to have a awesome melee system and aspects like food, rest and things like that. But not overdone, so it would still be entertaining. :sigh: ... one can dream.
Hope this isn't another Fort Zombie.
Gonna be shit. (Which I'm only really saying because I won't be able to play it cause it's a XBLA exclusive).
Class3 is Xbox exclusive, but I figure it means that when they go for their big goal, Class4, it will release to a wider spectrum.
Whooo, its about time
Is it a First or Third person view?
There are no screenshots, no release date, no indication as to any kind of gameplay. Bullshit/
From what I can gather, it's just Class3 that's XBLA exclusive. Though I've not seen anything that indicates PC/PS3 gamers will be seeing this any time soon. Regardless though, this is pretty much exactly what I've been looking for since Zulu Online decided it didn't want to exist any more.
One of those times im glad to have a 360 :buddy:
I have one too but I don't buy stuff on XBLA because I hate buying M$ points.
Oh my god this sounds so good
No love for PS3 or PC?
How do you even know what this is going to look like? It's just going to be something like Urban Dead mixed with Die2nite.
hey microsoft you make windows too yeah
