If anyone is having problems running B&W 1 on Windows 7, this guide sure helps: http://cowgod.net/2009/11/07/play-black-white-on-windows-7/ [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline]
Wow, I really want to play the first one. But it doesn`t work on Windows 7 and I can`t find a fix.
Follow the link I just posted.
Just remembered something from my very first playthrough. I was apparently as evil as you can get, while my creature was the epitome of holiness. Why? Because I sacrificed dead people. Yes, I sacrificed SKELETONS. Torching a set of meaningless bones that I can use to bring rain so people dont STARVE TO DEATH is very very evil, apparently, and thats how I got so evil. Yeah, I don't get it either.
You sacrificed the souls from the bones?
Awesome, just found my copy of black and white! Although, as I've been playing number 2 recently, I think I'd find it difficult playing with the old mechanics
That's why it's so fun. :v: Also, waiting for the LP. :buddy:
Fucking Japanese and their Hurricane wonders. Oh well, let me just go ahead and build this earthquake wonder...

Rated heart anyway.
I just bought Black and White 2, I hope it's something, gonna install it now.
Lol beating the shit out of my creature is the funniest part of the whole game. I keep slapping the bitch till he falls all over the villagers and break a house or two. Shit was cash.
Then you pet him to calm him down and make him think it's all right. And start over >:D [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline]
You sacrificed the souls from the bones?
But the way a corpse becomes a skeleton is by the soul going to heaven or hell. I'd count that more as a bug than anything. In fact you shouldn't even be able to sacrifice bones there's no life force left.
ACTUALLY, you should have a graveyard, so your people don't mourn the loss of a dead fellow...and then there would be no skeleton, if I'm not mistaken. Anyways, regardless of appearance, the game still handles a skeleton as a person. It's activity being "Dead", but, still, you sacrificed a person. Actually, in world 2, when you lay down a skeleton in the reanimation ring, they stay a skeleton, but still jump around all jolly. Yeah, they could/should have patched that in some way.
Is there anywhere I can buy and download this game online? They seem to not have it at any stores near me and i'm not driving into town to buy it when there's several feet of snow

It would be faster for me to just drive into town and buy it then drive back instead of waiting a few weeks for it to get here from ebay
Isn't there a way to make skeletons alive again in the first game? Can't remember how to do it, but I remember I had at least one walking skeleton in each land.

Unless you're really lucky.
Isn't there a way to make skeletons alive again in the first game? Other than that, there might be a miracle, but if so, then I don't know of it.
Skeleton glitch is achieved by sending a skeleton through a teleport. They'll then walk around like normal, but I don't think they can be made disciples. [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline] Ya, my friend told me about the second land one, but I was thinking of the glitch.
I doubt you'll "just find it" in your local store. It just snowed 3 feet over the last week and they haven't gotten around to plowing every road. I wanted to find it online and do it that way instead of spending a few dangerous hours venturing into town to buy it
OH GOD! Japan used their hurricane the same time I used the earthquake! MUTUALLY ASSURED DESTRUCTION!!
How can they even use magic if they're not gods??? I've always been a bit disappointed in B&W2, really. I don't think they ever really captured this atmosphere, for example. Peter's - back then - catastrophic hyping of features they didn't have time or money to finish certainly didn't help. I had hoped for permanent terrain deformation, flowing water and lava, a more intelligent creature, more self sustainable villagers who could go to war with your creature as their leader. I guess you can still see those in the final game, actually. But they're all so half-baked and never plays into the gameplay much at all. Instead there is this extreme simplification of the game into a simplistic Sim City clone merged with an extremely lackluster RTS and a boring, mechanical robot for a companion. The quests don't do a lot to draw you into the story and the world either. Mostly transformed into shiny buttons that do little to break up the Sim City RTS. And the characters of the advisors are now as weak and uninspiring as the quests. I'd love to see the new, mature Lionhead do an ambitious second take at this, but I'll settle for Dust for now. Also what's up with the lack of multi-player!? >:(
I thought that it doesn`t work that way on the first game.
it does basically, if you see him doing something you don't want him to do, you slap/beat the shit out of him right there and he won't do it again/as much (depending on how badly you beat him) and I think he can also learn specific behaviors that aren't just predetermined "gather food/wood" etc.. in the second game it's just predetermined crap and it's not hard at all to teach him what you want him to do (except for the very beginning where he keeps trying to eat rocks cause you haven't beaten him for it yet and it's retarded)
Me: That will teach you to shit on my trees! Creature: *Obtained numerous cuts, bruises and one black eye* Me: And what are you going to tell the civilians if they ask? Creature: I... I fell...
Wait.... the creature isnt supposed to take a shit under a tree? Where then? My cow took a dump in the middle of the village (Killing a kid with a direct shot, btw) so I bitch slapped her till she started doing it under trees. Is it the wrong thing to do? D:

D:
Nothing is really wrong. If you want to teach your creature to take a dump on the beach ball you get, you can do that. You are the God after all. And from what I remember, you could teach your creature an awful lot. But the tips site that was linked earlier in the thread says that it is better to not always reward fully or slap fully for stuff. Instead you reward and punish based on how good or bad the deed was. I really want to install this again just to try that out really. But I got so many other games to play. Damn time.
But punishing is too fun, you get carried away hitting it and you end up at 100% in no time lol
I remember hearing if you beat your creature enough times after every time he poops, he'll eventually just stop pooping altogether.
I don't like beating my creature. Too much of a softie when it comes to animals in general I think.
Am in PETA, and belive me, I beat the fuck out of my cow. it's just too hilarious when they fall over. :v:
Am in PETA, and belive me, I beat the fuck out of my cow. it's just too hilarious when they fall over. :v:
In 2 or 1?
I get so sad when he does the little whimper afterwards. [editline]23rd January 2011[/editline] Fucker managed to die too after the troll fight. Beat him for dying. He won't be doing that again any time soon.
How do I make my creature stronger in creature fights?
