Hearts of Iron III AAR - Peru, the greatest empire you never heard of.

Oh god, I love how Peru's glorious intercontinental empire has taken the role of the USA in the war...
Lol this is great. Especially your invasion of occupied France. Can't wait til next update.
Just a quick question real fast. Does anyone know why it won't let me declare war on Bulgaria as Turkey... My neutrality is 0 (from cheat of course) and the "declare war" button isn't grayed out, but it won't let me click it.

It's possible that Bulgaria has been turned into a puppet state and in which case you would have to declare war on the master nation.
However, I don't think Bulgaria would have been turned into a puppet state, maybe by Yugoslavia.
Nope, I checked... definitely not a puppet state (already had that mistake with Iraq). The only thing it says is that they have claims in a couple of countries, but I don't think that has any effect on war.

Yeah, they probably have claims in Greece and Romania, but that wouldn't affect you declaring war on them. Is it possible you need like 3 diplomatic points to declare war? I don't remember if you need dip. points or not to declare war.

Finally figured it out... accidentally made diplomacy under AI control. I all of a sudden kept getting random acceptances of trade and stuff that I never initiated. :)
Thought since this is checked more, I'd ask a question I have here. Did steam ever receive the patch update? My update news for it shows the most recent being the release, and I never noticed it downloading something for HoI3..
Comrades, dark days have fallen upon us.
Our liberation of France has come to a halt. During a push to capture another harbour south of our beach-head a large battle wiped out the last remnants of the 1st Peruvian Army, leaving the small unexperienced infantry division that was watching over Albania as the only thing keeping our French beachhead secure. They believe the 2nd Peru Expeditionary Force is arriving any day, we have not told them of the troubles back home or that their reinforcments were now being used to keep the homeland in order. May God help these men.
Ecuador is first to invade. While their troops move south to capture our provinces we send two infantry divisions to their western coast.
We capture their capital within the fortnight, the fools do not realise when they have lost however and continue to fight us in exile.
Argentina invades us next. We repel the pitiful attempt to bring us down and show them how to invade a country.
Turns out we are not the only ones to face trouble on the home front, Germany has invaded Britain, with quite a sizeable force. Wales and much of northern England falls within weeks.
And three more of our neighbours turn against us. Chile and Colombia have joined with the Soviets for reasons I cannot fathom, but as long as their not attacking us who's to complain.
We ship the troops from Ecuador down to invade the Argentinian capital from the sea, the Brazilian navy engages us on the way and two out of four of our transport ships are sunk. We lost no soldiers however. Capital captured, they attempt to set up a new provisional capital further inland, we capture it within the week and Argentina is defeated and annexed.
But with good news comes yet more bad news, another of our allies has fallen. Leaving Peru and Britain the last countries in the world fighting for freedom.
From Argentina we quickly seized the Uruguay capital and the country fell the same day.
Looking at Brazil we can see we're going to have a long fight ahead of us. We essentially need to have all of the green provinces in our control to bring down their national unity - their will to fight, and win.
The same soldiers from the Ecuador/Argentina/Uruguay invasions are shipped off to Brazil (I think they are the same soldiers that conquered our colonies back in the 30s as well. They shall be receiving our highest medals upon arriving back in Peru.) while the soldiers still in Argentina focus on Paraguay.
With the Paraguayan capital in our sights our troops move in to take it from two directions.
There are a number around the capital, with minimal casualties but eventually we capture it and Paraguay falls, though their government fights on elsewhere.
Fuck, where's the USA in all this. Fantastic AAR, I can't wait for the next update.
Why weren't Australia, South Africa, Canada and New Zealand in the Allies?
Why weren't Australia, South Africa, Canada and New Zealand in the Allies?
New Zealand no longer exists, it is a part of his empire.
I'm asking why the Allies didn't declare war on him when he invaded New Zealand and why the other nations of the Commonwealth aren't allied with the UK.
ah. I'd pin it mostly on how the game can play out. there's been instances where the USA has aligned with the Axis. The game plays historically to an extent, but things rarely go the way they actually did.
And three more of our neighbours turn against us. Chile and Colombia have joined with the Soviets for reasons I cannot fathom, but as long as their not attacking us who's to complain.
Who called it?
I like these threads.
Damn, sucks for you and Great Britain. I'm wondering if the USSR will join in- if they do, you'll get one helluva break.
You should definitely try your best to get the U.S.A. in the fight on your side.
I have a similar empire going on with Brazil in HoI2. Conquered all of South America, along with Cuba + some smaller nations near Mexico and most of the Caribbean islands. Preparing for a Portugal invasion now.
Our focus is now on Brazil, our exasperated troops push on, capturing ground quickly.
Colombia turns out was with the Axis, not the Soviets and they have begun waging war on us. None of my soldiers can be spared from the Brazilian front though, we have pushed to far in to pull out now and lose our progress.
I managed to get a transport boat down from Ireland all the way to the Dominican Republic to transport the infantry garrisoned there across to Colombia. Landing in occupied Venezula we sent them straight for the Colombian capital.
With all the Brazilian ports captured and their navy no longer a threat I quickly sent our single transport boat down to pick up some soldiers so they can invade the northern Brazilian provinces which would take months to reach on foot.
Our incursion into Colombia hasn't stopped their advance and Lima, our capital is almost within their reach. We will fight to the last man to defend our homeland though!
However, we finally get good news. Our coastal assaults in north Brazil weakened them so much they could no longer stand up to us. Another nation fallen to our might.
Bad news though, our troops are scattered across Brazil, weeks away from reaching the ports, months away from reaching the homeland on foot. And Colombia draws ever nearer.
Colombia constantly recaptures it's port so I have to reassign the infantry heading for their capital to this new threat. If we lose our lone transport ship to their navy then all hope is lost and our soldiers will be stranded across the continent.
After we capture their port, again, our small infantry divisions advance south inland to the Colombian capital, at last we halt their invasion of our homeland.
With only a small window of opportunity for us to capture their capital, our transport boat quickly gets to Lima and picks up our HQ unit, a unit that since it's creation has only had to guard Lima, and never faced combat. We sent them into Colombian-occupied Ecuador to capture the resource areas and drain Colombia's war effort so they cannot defend their capital efficiently.
The HQ unit fulfils it's role and Colombia is weakened. Our troops see their chance and make a dash for the capital, massacring all Colombian soldiers they come across. And then with their capital gone, Colombia falls. Our final enemy on the home front falls.
This was our Stalingrad. Not even when every nation in South America was united against us (except Chile, their still cool) could they defeat the might of Peru. Our troops fought long and hard and took many loses but they kept our empire together. And now, with all these new nations under our rule we are one of the most powerful nations in the world, as well as the largest producer of all resources, larger than Russia and America combined even. For now our armies can rest, may there be festivals and celebrations in our streets for our triumph. For soon we go to war again. Next stop, Berlin.
On an unrelated note Australia is an idiot and joined the Soviets.
Do you have any battleships or any heavy ships in your navy? Or is it just transports?
Do you have any battleships or any heavy ships in your navy? Or is it just transports?
I have the one transport, which at one point was eight transports. Brazil destroyed seven of them.
And the rest of my navy is 2 destroyers and one submarine which have been patrolling up down the coast of Peru ever since 1936, looking out for the many enemies we've made over the years.
HOI3 is hard as fuck.
Wow, this only gets more incredible. I can't believe you've managed to achieve so much with your slightly insane early battle plan. Perhaps it might be an idea to show the Soviet nations in another colour on the map so we can see who's you, who's with you, who's against you, who's neutral and who's undecided?

I haven't been showing the Soviet nations on the end map so far because they've been uninvolved in the war, but I'll do another quick map showing who's aligned to who.
A bunch of your images are broken for me.
Loving it, though. :D
The current state of the world:
Many of the neutral European countries are swaying more towards the Soviets rather than the Allies.
America is close to joining the Allies but keep drifting away to the Soviets as well.
The Middle East and Far East is swaying towards either the Soviets or Axis.
The Allies are unloved.
Wait, the Swiss are soviet and the Italians aren't aligned?
