Minecraft is a combination of Dwarf Fortress and Infiniminer. Fortresscraft is a combination of Dwarf Fortress and Infiniminer. It just happens to have textures that are remarkably similar to Minecrafts and just happens to start development now that Minecraft is successful. But don't worry guys, it's going to be original because he is going to cram in a few ideas of his own along with a few "fancy" shaders, and it will be on a different platform until he figures out how to port it to PC. I am not amused by this blatant copy, nor by the developer's facetious arguments. :colbert:
Doubt it. BUT I could play it, if it has Ncps. gets kinda lonely when your only friend is a Cow that won't shut up. [editline]28th February 2011[/editline] Oh Who am I kidding this is a blatant copy of it.
I hate this game 100%. It's just copying minecraft item for item. Next thing you know there will be creepers cause the shitty ass developer can't think of an original name let alone idea.

Fortresscraft looks good BUT Minecraft will always have that special place in my heart
The dude couldn't even come up with a slightly original name. I mean come on.
What are bookshelves for?
books in the trailer there were bookcases inside of the mine lol
Oh man, the forums are that website are hilarious. Endless threads calling it a rip-off, and endless replies saying "fanboy" or "umad" or "haters", and of course, "Well minecraft ripped off Infiniminer first"
"Well minecraft ripped off Infiniminer first"
And that's there only defense really, and for some reason they think it justifies Fortresscraft ripping off Minecraft.
the guy who is developing fortresscraft is not creative enough to think that up
No, it's obviously going to be named the Hunter/Boomer, because the fellow making Fortresscraft is trying to do as little thinking as possible.
No, it's obviously going to be named the Hunter/Boomer, because the fellow making Fortresscraft is trying to do as little thinking as possible.
He should just name them whatever they're referred to in the game's code. "Good god, it's full of enemy.ArcherMob!"
The most retarded ripoff I have seen in a while.
If Notch maintains his idiotic and lazy attitude to work, I don't mind him being replaced by proper developers, even if their games are copies.
Idiotic and lazy? He's just set up a company so that they can work even faster on Minecraft as well as other games.
He's just set up a company so that they can work even faster on Minecraft as well as other games.
Meanwhile, at Mojang
Meanwhile, at Mojang [img_thumb]http://media.pcgamer.com/files/2011/01/IMG_12921.jpg[/img_thumb]
Good thing they purchased 100,000 square feet of office space. Now they can have office chair jousting!
For some reason, this game is pissing me off to the extreme. I'm watching an interview with its creator right now, and he KNOWS he's just pushing out a copy. It's sickening.
And that's there only defense really, and for some reason they think it justifies Fortresscraft ripping off Minecraft.
Their "only defense" isn't a valid defense at all. Minecraft used the fairly common idea of having a world made of blocks that can be edited. Infiniminer was not the first to do it either, Sauerbraten has been using the idea for years and no doubt it has been used long before that. So why is Fortresscraft a copy of Minecraft, but Minecraft is not a copy of Infiniminer? Simply because Minecraft was the first to create a procedurally generated natural world composed of cubes that can be interacted with by the player. The individual components (procedural generation, natural worlds, cubes, AI creatures, crafting, etc) aren't innovative, but the combined, functional product is. Fortresscraft uses all of those components in an almost identical form with a few extra features tacked on; hence it is a copy and not simply a "game inspired by...". You can say that having a competitor is good for consumers but this is not one of those cases. If he is successful all he will accomplish is earning himself some money that really should go towards Mojang and he will divide the playerbase. It would be far more productive of him to work with and improve Minecraft as a member of their team. Him releasing a rip-off on the consoles isn't helping anyone but himself.

It just looks like a texture pack. A not that bad texture pack if I may add.
is that the RPG texture pack I see?
Does this game really have anything going for it? Yeah 31 player multiplayer sounds nice, but not with the shitty community that they have already accumulated even before release.
Gosh guys, why are people bagging on him? He knows its a ripoff of Minecraft, hes not stupid. He wants to make some money+spread minecraft to consoles. "OH he is so gay omg its pretty much minecraft" Obviously. I say props to him. FUCK YALL HATERZ
Bwahaha, it used to have a twitter feed on the homepage, but the owner took it off because all it was was people calling it a ripoff of Minecraft. We win again! [editline]28th February 2011[/editline]
Gosh guys, why are people bagging on him? He knows its a ripoff of Minecraft, hes not stupid. FUCK YALL HATERZ
If he respected notch at all he wouldn't have done it. If notch wanted it to be on consoles he would have expressed it himself, and really what this guy is doing is keeping Minecraft from getting new players because people will play this because it's cheaper.

FUCK YALL HATERZ
Top quality posting right here. ^ We're "bagging on him" because he is taking advantage of Minecraft's popularity to make a quick buck. He isn't doing the community a favor by putting this alternate game on the consoles.
Good thing they purchased 100,000 square feet of office space. Now they can have office chair jousting!
Idc if its late, rate me dumb. But, Personally, I'm happy for Notch's Success. Frankly, if he wants to go spend ALL the cash he's made on weed, durgs or alcohol, I'd be perfectly happy with it. He deserves it for delivering OC to the world. (TROLOL MC was just a ripoff too!) No, it wasnt. It was a game recreated and made perfect. FortressCraft is a ripoff of a ripoff, with no effort. My stand is pretty clear. But I just wanted to justify Notch's "Vacations" and "Office-Jousting". The man deserves it; he's human like everyone else, simply celebrating his success with foolishness. >Graduate Highschool >Get wasted >Get Laid. >Jail. Same concept.
Hmm... Another http://ncarlson.com/ but he plans to take it a different way than minecraft. To me the graphics are perfect... No "to good" no "crappy hd" and no "Woah the pixels are HUGE!" EDIT: http://www.rogueminer.com/ EDIT: those are from the same guy.
Hi guys. I'm Nick, the guy developing RogueMiner. There seems to be a heated discussion here, so I'm not sure what to say. But I'd be happy to answer any of your questions. :)

Well, atleast my console fag friends can play minecraft.
Which would take longer, this guy finishing the game or Mojang making an XBLIG compatible version of MC?
