Hey guys, just letting you know I am after the original Half-Life on steam and I have 2 copies of Half-Life 2, I already own the original but I bought it in 1998 and cant use the CD key in steam to own it through steam (unless anyone knows how I can do that) anyway I will trade my extra copy of Half-life 2 for Half-Life 1. I hope somone will be able to trade me :) also not Half-Life Source, the original. Thanks.
contact steam support and ask em what to do
I technically got an extra copy of HL1 when I bought the anthology, but it never appeared on my games list.
Just install it, and then go "Add non Steam game". Easy.
Well the Steam version of HL has a bunch of different features I want, so installing the out of the box "original" wont serve my purpose. Also my case was damaged and the CD key is lost. I just want a new copy but have no money in Paypall at the moment. Anyway I hope somone will trade :P
I don't think it is possible to transfer games via different Steam accounts...
I don't think it is possible to transfer games via different Steam accounts...
He gifts that person Hl2. They give him Hl1 as a gift. That equals trade. What you do is: Go to steam games Press "Activate a product on steam" Put your CD key in.
What you do is: Go to steam games Press "Activate a product on steam" Put your CD key in.
Certain versions of HL1 retail have keys that Steam doesn't recognise, so you can't activate it this way.

The second key worked as well, gave a friend of mine the same games. Only the third one didn't work.
