And as for anything else - that's fate. -Roadside Picnic by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky Welcome to the zone. The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series is made up of three games as of now, Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat. Each game has its own set of unique experiences and features, and each game has a new twist upon the life of a Stalker. The game series is based off of the Chernobyl Nuclear catastrophe, with it's own fictional additions. The zone is an irradiated hell hole that was formed after the second explosion at the powerplant, it's filled with anomalies and known to be home to deadly mutants. The zone is populated by scavengers nicknamed S.T.A.L.K.E.R's, which stands for "Scavenger, Trespasser, Adventurer, Loner, Killer, Explorer, Robber". There are also various other factions of stalkers which may be friendly, neutral, or hostile. This is just a quick overview for more in-depth information I recommend taking a look at the individual game websites highlighted above, or if you don't mind spoilers you may also take a look at the Stalker Wiki. - Be sure to play the games without any game changing mods if you're going through your first playthrough! There is a plethora of different modifications for all of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games, some are just minor tweaks but others provide a vastly different experience. You can go on and find one that interests you or just ask in the thread! Beware of mods like Complete that advertise to only "enhance" the vanilla experience, this is not true. The mods change certain aspects of the game that would otherwise not be in the vanilla version of the games, so please play vanilla first and THEN enjoy those mods. Here are a few websites that you can visit to find Stalker mods: Stalker Filefront, ModDB, and the Facepunch Mod Repository. Raputinator also maintains a relatively up to date and detailed list of mods for SoC, CS and CoP on his blog. If there's a mod not on there that you think should be, PM him (he's on FP) to let him know! Like the Zone? Like books? Don't speak Russian*? Our very own Tarasov has written two Stalker books available on Amazon: Southern Comfort, and its sequel Northern Passage!
And now to break up the beautiful flow and coherency of Amez's OP. Hey, you, newbie. Are you having problems with headbobbing in Shadow of Chernobyl? Need a quick fix? Open the console, bound to ` by default (just below the escape key), and type Cam_inert 0 by varying the value between 0 and 1 you can modify the amount of headbob so you no longer feel like throwing up every time you walk 5 meters. Good luck, and have fun!
OP template by Amez. Pastebin here.
About damn time. Good job though.
Why mods locked the last thread anyway? Or did we hit the post limit?
Why mods locked the last thread anyway?
Because it went to 10 000 posts / 250 pages. The old DayZ thread went down as well for the same reason.
pop quiz how do you make a game so unstable it corrupts saves on crash the answer is vodka lots of it [editline]penispump5678[/editline] and i mean holy shit zulu would pass out from looking at it
That new thread smell
If Beacon doesn't provide you with a new OP, I'll remake the one I made then. I can't leave my stalker bros behind.
Replaying clear sky and, are there any mods that replace the in-game reeds with shorter ones? Right now they're way too tall and it gets annoying when I die for the 5th time to some ghost whos shooting me with his sniper-like shotgun.
Replaying clear sky and, are there any mods that replace the in-game reeds with shorter ones?
AFAIK no. My advice would be to let your Clear Sky buddies do the fighting in areas where the bandits are hiding in the reeds or let them engage the bandits first, them flank them with a shotgun. In the latest patches your allies at the Swamps are a bit more proactive so if you give them time, they can eventually take over the swamps. Of course it's kind of boring so instead you could help them out in areas that don't have tall reeds everywhere. Besides, you can usually find stash locations from the bodies and if there are some between you and the base, loot them.
Etcetera, you mind sticking this in the OP? We need more recruits. The Monolith Cool Club
Went to see if the next version of OGSE was released, rather disappointed it wasn't. 'Til I realised how substantial an update it will be; seems they successfully and completely rewrote enemy combat AI. I think i'm in love with them now.
I saw that we didn't have a thread anymore, but I forgot to grab a copy of the OP from the last thread for archiving so I wasn't able to put one up... As for real news, I'm playing Swartz 1.3 right now. It's pretty cool with all the new weapons, and they're somewhat balanced with of course some exceptions. Like how they are generally better than the vanilla arsenal; for instance, the Mossberg 500 (I think) if aimed remotely near a bloodsucker, it will take it down in one shot. I went to finish off the Bloodsucker Liar mission, expected a lot of trouble, but instead waiting around for the timer to finish because I killed the enemies with 5 seconds. I didn't use the new radiation system though. I'll try it on the next playthrough.

Swartz mod 1.3 has a loading time of about half an hour for me, and absolutely unbearable stuttering. I wish mod makers would stop making the variation mod a compulsory part, but of course nobody gives a shit about those with weaker computers :c What's worse is my computer refuses to accept a memory upgrade, despite it being exactly the type it's supposed to support (2x2gb DDR2 non-EEC unbuffered 800mhz) :c

When I tried to upgrade my computer it fried the new RAM. [editline]21st June 2012[/editline] How does one fix collimator/reflex sight reticules not showing up properly in CoP? I assume it's something to do with the texture qualities. Is there any way to force the game to use HQ textures just for the reticules?

[editline]22nd June 2012[/editline] Also the thread lock caught me by surprise and I didn't think I was worthy enough to make a new thread.
All STALKER games stutter slightly to me. However, I found out that the latest version of Game Booster record pretty neat quality video. The only problem is that it doesn't record both game AND microphone audio. I suppose I can find an easy workaround with Audacity or some shit. It compresses it apparently real-time, is devoid of audio desync as far as i am concerned and works for most games if not all. I suggest y'all try it out. Better than Fraps at least to me. AND I STILL NEED SOMEONE TO HELP ME FIX THE FUCKING STREAM

i have an erection [SUB]for stalker[/SUB]
Oh God, I came across groups of bandits fighting against groups stalkers near the substation workshop, suddenly two bloodsuckers and a zombie join the party, there was no clear winner until Hatchet and his men come along and wrecks everybody's shit, I was lucky to be on good terms with Hatchet so he didn't fuck me up, then we shared the loot.
I WILL FUCKING HELP YOU SINCE IT'S TOMORROW NOW
Well then, you better get in the stream and Steam especially. Helps communicating.
;36434111']All STALKER games stutter slightly to me.
My optimisation mods + -noprefetch If I can run STALKER without stutter on my LGA775 and DDR2 computer..
My optimisation mods + -noprefetch If I can run STALKER without stutter on my LGA775 and DDR2 computer..
no no, not like that. it's that regular stutter.
;36435388']no no, not like that. it's that regular stutter.
I'm assuming to when the game hitches for a split second so that your harddrive can load up all the new assets it needs, like if NPCs spawn
Wow, the new GameBooster is pretty neat. The UI is much easier to use compared to other softwares.
Yep. Also has all the system functions easily linked up so it's much simpler to defrag for example.
oh snap found something that increases the radius that grass renders at testing it out right now
