The program is still in BETA, if you have a problem, browse their forum for a solution as they do have answers to alot of the common problems, don't immediately crap yourself and run back to Hamachi, give it a chance. I made this thread to tell people about it so if you have technical problems, the Tunngle forum is where to go. Hamachi has alot of problems on Vista and up, most games won't even work with it properly on those Operating Systems, so me and a friend searched for better way to make a VPN and we found it - Tunngle, with Hamachi we had to mess about with alot of network options to get it working right on Windows 7 and even after all that tweaking, there was a high chance that the game wouldn't work with it anyway, with Tunngle, I laughed at how easy it was compared to Hamachi, you just start the program, join a channel and then everyone who is in the same channel and see your server on their LAN or vice versa. It's currently in German language only but the next release will have full English support, don't be swayed off by this if you are English, scroll down for a video tutorial of what to do if you don't understand German. Main Site: http://www.tunngle.net/en/ Forum: http://www.tunngle.net/forum/ Download: http://www.tunngle.net/en/downloads/ So how do I get this working? It's pretty simple, however if you have a problem with the installation (like something fails and you get a weird error during install), read the section below these usage instructions. HERE'S a video tutorial but if you can't follow that, then there's some text instructions below. 1. Download Tunngle and install it, restart your PC if needed 2. Create an account HERE 3. Run Tunngle and login, Remember to use your USER PASSWORD on the login screen, account password will not work. The login process may take a while, for me it was instant but for my friend it took about a minute or two. 4. Once, you see the main screen, , click browser at the bottom left, double click a game of your choice and it will open that games chatroom, it can be any game - however people who want to play with you need to be on the same channel as you, once you're on the same channel as the people you want to play with, that's it, you can now make a lan server and people on that channel will be able to join it and vice versa. 5. Have fun. :) OH NOES! Tunngle keeps giving me an error during install, what's wrong!? There's an apparently rare bug with the latest version which causes a component to not install correctly, download the older version HERE, install it (it should install fine) and then install the newest over it (which should also install without problems now). The game I want to play is not on the list... It doesn't need to be, just join any channel, it's easier to find people if you join the same channel as the game you want to play though. Please say thanks on their forum if you like it, spreading the word about Tunngle would be great too. Tunngle VS. Why? Beacuse it doesn't send UDP broadcast to the network interface. This means that, although some games might still work, many just won't. Unless you download a particular fix, you won't see all the hosted games in the game browser when using Vista or Windows 7. **Often after some hard work. Hamachi can really be a pain to set up. Tunngle isn't! And you can always count on a wonderful support from the Tunngle crew. ***Offline players do not steal places to the online players anymore. This seems awesome, trying it out. Do you know when the next version will be released?
Or just don't get the latest version of Hamachi. 1.0.1.5 is the most stable for gaming on Vista and XP I've noticed. Could be useful regardless, rated useful of course.
This seems awesome. Trying it out. Do you know when the next version will be released?
According to the devs, it should be very soon. [editline]02:21AM[/editline]
Or just don't get the latest version of Hamachi. 1.0.1.5 is the most stable for gaming on Vista and XP I've noticed.
This thing blows any version of Hamachi out of the water in gaming IMO, give it ago and see if you prefer it. :)
Hopefully this will encourage more Facepunch LAN parties. Also we could ask for a Facepunch Lobby on their forums.
I'll probably host the Doom 3 coop mod on it tomorrow for anyone to walk in on so's to try it out properly, me and a friend tried Doom 3 OpenCoop earlier and it worked perfectly straight "out of the box".
Doom 3 opencoop works perfectly online without the need to forward ports so what would be the point of that...
Doom 3 opencoop works perfectly online without the need to forward ports so what would be the point of that...
That's the internet mode, I want to try the virtual LAN out with more than 2 players, also i'll not only just do Doom 3, i'll take requests and carry them out if I own the game, just trying to get this a bit of publicity.
To play Doom 3 OpenCoop do you need Resurrection of Evil? Because I can't seem to get it working. If not then I'm definantly in.
To play Doom 3 OpenCoop do you need Resurrection of Evil? Because I can't seem to get it working. If not then I'm definantly in.
It supports ROE, but it's not needed for opencoop to work.
Does this work with ArmA 2?
It supports ROE, but it's not needed for opencoop to work.
Sweet. If we play without it then I'm in. You should make a thread in Games in Progress about it.
Does this work with ArmA 2?
Yes, Arma 2 is in its list.
Does this work with ArmA 2?
It works with every game, but there are some lobbies dedicated to games.
Yes, Arma 2 is in its list.
I came. I'll try this tomorrow, maybe my retarded cousin will have more success with it than he did with hamachi when we tried to play ArmA together. 'Night FP.
It works with every game, but there are some lobbies dedicated to games.
Hmm I never knew that, i'll add it.
Let's say I wanted to play through Half Life 2 with a friend, what would be the best way to do this?
insurgency Co-op mod
Insurgency isn't a co-op mod?...
Insurgency isn't a co-op mod?...
sorry, wrong mod, it's Synergy, they "sound" alike in my head :downs:
Me and my friends have been trying to use Hamachi... and failed horribly :saddowns: Hopefully we have more success with this, thanks
Isn't this something like garena?
Isn't this something like garena?
Nope.
really? hamachi has problems with vista? Weird, I'm clear I get it smooth and nice, no bugs or anything but I might try this out.
It seems all you have to do is start the program and join any game channel, people who want to join your server need to be in the same channel though.
really? hamachi has problems with vista? Weird, I'm clear I get it smooth and nice, no bugs or anything but I might try this out.
I should have been a bit more clearer in the OP, Hamachi's UDP and IPX protocols don't tend to work properly on 64 Bit Vista and Windows 7 meaning games that use those protocols (which is most of them) won't work, 32 Bit Vista and Windows 7 seem to be a hit and miss, some people are more lucky than others. [editline]06:20PM[/editline] Updated with Tunngle features.
Wow this thing is awesome, thanks for sharing. off to get my ban.
Eh, the feature comparison was something more like "here's some features Hamachi doesn't have, we'll make a comparison out of it" - but, hey, at least there's active support.

I haven't had many issues with Hamachi >.> Only things I had to do with it were to increase its priority to be above the LAN connection, and disable it's IPV6 properties.
I just downloaded Garena, and now I see this.
