So, nevermind all the fancy engine stuff, how far is the game? EDIT: ...I know I'm late, this was still in my subscriptions. I just want to know what happened to this project.
The guy got hired by Valve a while ago AFAIK
The guy got hired by Valve a while ago AFAIK
He's outdated. We really don't need him here anymore, he's just bullshitting the Source engine now. Valve should really hire a new coder (most likely from the community) to take his place, someone Email Gabe this thread/video/something telling him of Jason's crimes!
Source is D3D9 only because the latest builds dropped D3D8, most notably L4D2
Alien Swarm has hints for "dxlevel 100" (D3D10), But it's not accessible for modders
I just realized how old this thread is...wtf.
the best ssao technology I've seen in a game actually belongs to the toy story 3 game.
The guy got hired by Valve a while ago AFAIK
It'd be cool if he released the stuff though
The guy got hired by Valve a while ago AFAIK
I've told you many times that he only went for an interview.
Or don't going by the horror stories that his coding have caused. Just because he can do it doesn't mean he did it right.
Like what? He does everything as it should be done, unlike some people *cough* Jason Mitchell.
I also would like to know what horror stories are those, this demonstration is not a perfect job by all means but it's still quite impressive for something done using source engine.
it's still quite impressive for something done using source engine.
I don't understand why people say this, you're not majority limited with what you can do, alot of things are exposed.
I don't understand why people say this, you're not majority limited with what you can do, alot of things are exposed.
I think people just don't understand the concept of shaders really, seen as most people making source mods are like 12 or something.
I don't understand why people say this, you're not majority limited with what you can do, alot of things are exposed.
None of the big HL2 mods really have professional coders so you don't really see anything awesome
I'm not saying you're limited or that he is a god, I'm saying if you want to bash him post your reasons. The comment about source engine is that it's not an easy engine to work with, you have to spend some time to know your way around it, this is also the first time I've seen so much work invested in shaders on the source engine from the mod community.
Ragdoll to anim blending system ? Oh my god.
Ragdoll to anim blending system ? Oh my god.
It's much less buggy since the video was uploaded.
Ragdoll to anim blending system ? Oh my god.
Zeno Clash got that
Zeno Clash got that
So? It's not like he's using their code.
With enough work you could do the anim blending in gmod lua, ther'es actually a fuckton you can do nowadays with lua it's crazy.
With enough work you could do the anim blending in gmod lua, ther'es actually a fuckton you can do nowadays with lua it's crazy.
It's because garry exposed so much to the lua environment, stuff only exposed in C++ in the normal games.
I love that kind of system, makes the character a lot more dynamic.
Zeno Clash got that
So does Dark Messiah.
