Tried the free weekend. 2 games. 2 hackers.
And then you played against the same guy.
He played two matches and shat at the game because of hackers. Funny really
So I'm playing the MW3 free weekend. From a (used to be) avid CoD4 player, here's what I think: The guns (or at least the SMGs) are too accurate when you hip fire. It's like I'm equipping Steady Aim. The maps are too fucking small and claustrophobic. "free kills" killstreaks such as that helicopter (Cobra?) are annoying as shit. Why did they remove Stun grenades being thrown really quickly? I may as well get a Flash if I can't throw them quickly. [editline]17th February 2012[/editline] I played a bit of Domination and TDM and have yet to play S&D.

They just don't give you freedom to have any type of class working right. You will do well with fast fire rate weapons like ARs and SMGs but if you want to be a sniper or anything else, you wont really succeed at it. (talking about sniping, not fagscoping) Oh, why can't we have those awesome US vs RU/OpFor side to side fights like on cod4, where spawns would always be near other team mates instead of right behind the other team ready to kill/be killed...

Guys, where is grim joker?

Jesus god this game feels like a step backwards from Black ops. I was hopeful too, black ops was a step in the right direction. [editline]17th February 2012[/editline] I don't even feel like I'm earning kills, I'm clicking and getting flashing effects and loud noises, the game is ridiculously easy, the only challenging game I had was versus an aimbotter.
Is co-op survival fucked up for anyone else? Me and my friend try to play it but either it lags super hard or after a few rounds our characters aren't in the right place on each-others screens.
Got to my second match, wondered why people were bitching about this one guy who was apparently a hacker, then Final Killcam showed him standing still, shooting someone through a solid steel fence taller than him.
Just managed to pull a triple to win a TDM 7500-7400, while we were only at 7100 beforehand. Moments like that feel awesome.
So I downloaded the mp for the free weekend, and after i adjusted my settings, the menu freezes, and is frozen every time i launch. Already tried google but to no avail. Anybody know a solution?

If I buy the game, will my progress during the free weekend be saved or will I have to start over?

Over the last week I've been playing Black Ops, this is probably the best CoD multiplayer experience I've had. When the game came out, I played the campaign and about an hour's worth of MP, but for whatever reason I stopped playing (I've never been a huge fan of the CoD franchise dating back to the first one, so it's usually a chore for me to play them). Ranked dedicated servers, nothing too overpowered (AK74u and maybe the FAMAS are borderline), weapons you need to aim, not too many hackers (only seen one in 40ish hours of playing). I wish I'd stuck with it years ago, because this is the first time I can say I've truly had fun in a CoD game.
Pre-loaded this when I heard about the free weekend. I was hoping it would be a little bit better than a lot of the reviews have been, even those reviews which have clearly gone to some effort as opposed to just the bandwagon from early release. The truth is, it's not even that good. It reminded me far too much like MW2 but in a worse way. I don't know, was hoping the free weekend could persuade me to buy it but it's really quite shit. Shame, massive shame. Hoping Treyarch release something that redeems the series partially, I really enjoyed CoD games prior to MW2, and as much as the critics disagree I thought WaW was really good. As I said, it's a shame, but that's how it goes when something is turned into a cash cow.
On the flipside, I'm having a shitton of fun playing this game. I bought it.

Are there normally this many aimbotters in the game? I just played three rounds of Kill Confirmed, Aimbotters kept joining and leaving, promoting some software called "Radar" for 35 Euros.

I hated the lag and how mw2 was dying, and even though I don't play it anymore, when I remember it, I like it in every way. Black Ops seemed like this dirty game, but now, it looks way better in comparison. CoD4... well... I just can't beat that with anything.

Free weekend, so far I've been doing pretty good. Probably because of css/cs skittles, but is the game still worth the 40 dollars (Please be unbiased, probably dumb since I'm asking in the COD thread) [editline]17th February 2012[/editline] For black ops, I maxed leveled, played for a little bit more, then stopped playing.

In CoD4 TDM there were frontlines and matches usually consisted of both teams pushing until one side overran the other and then spawns switched. TDM in MW3 was just running around like a fucking idiot until you saw someone. The maps... they're all the same. corridor, large area (where the objective usually is), small as hell buildings or elevated sniping or camping positions. In CoD4 most of the maps had something unique or something that defined them. Crossfire was that map that had a lot of sniper lookouts and was good for long range fights. Strike was urban combat and Vacant was mostly close quarters. In MW3 the maps I played had the same formula. They map design is just dull. Overall I really liked the presentation of MW3 but the gameplay and design was lacking. I only had the UMP and MP5 unlocked but there wasn't really anything different between them unless you get technical. MW3 is a decent game but I would not pay anything above $30 for it.
So, I just DL'd the Multiplayer and first match I was in I was greeted by an opposite team made entirely of Prestige'd or lvl 60-80 players. My team was lvl 1-20. Fuck.
Downloading, at 70%. I'm like 6th prestige on Xbox but my friend told me it's better on PC and he will smack my shit on it. [sp]I'm downloading to prove him wrong[/sp]
Apparently no aiming required just hip fire what has cod become
The free weekend has actually been pretty fun, because for once I can play a round where less than half of the players use custom gold-plated rapid fire MP7s.
My main gripe is that nothing feels memorable and the maps are mindless running and gunning.
This, a million times this. Every single map in MW3 is a circle with one or two corridors going through the middle. Sniping spots are always at the extreme edges of the map (for example, the long corridor on Mission or the side street on Resistance, with the gift shop) - try to snipe anywhere else, and you'll notice that the map designers went out of their way to specifically block long-range lines of sight with random props. For those trying out the free weekend and considering buying the game: Don't, for the love of god don't. The more you play MW3, the more goddamn stupid it becomes. The community is shitty, the game is badly balanced, and the more you play MW3's maps, the more you realize that they are all terrible. I used to think Mission was a fucking awesome map, but now I know that the only reason I thought it was good is just because it's not absolute trash. Seriously, they've been making these games for years and years now, and they still thought Downturn and Carbon were release worthy? To top it all off, half the time you die you're getting shot in the back because the game's field of view is capped at something like 60 degrees. Every player basically has horse blinders attached to their helmet.
