Whats the best mod to get for Empire?
American Civil War: The Blue and the Grey is pretty good. Not exactly finished but I enjoy it a lot.
Whats the best mod to get for Empire?
Darthmod. It's the only way I can play Empire nowadays because it makes the game feel complete. There are two versions of that mod as well: the full mod experience, Darthmod 7.0 or something and then there's the version that improves the game and adds some new units but keeps it closer to vanilla Empire without dramatically changing everything. That's the one I play and I think it's great. Highly recommended.
I am using darthmod for ntw and i love it. The balance is much better. It actually makes sense to hold your fire, get closer, shoot and charge with the mod. Fire by rank also makes it more interesting, but militia is overpowered because of it.

I have a leftover Shogun 2 Total war coupon if anyone is thinking about buying it from now to March the first. post on my wall if you need it.

Before you guys get your hopes up over that WWI mod, know this: The tanks look HILARIOUSLY dorky when they drive, and they turn like horses :v: [editline]27th February 2012[/editline] Also they haven't figured out a way to implement trench-digging, but I think all they have to do is make maps with them already.
Great war mod crashes whenever I do a campaign or battle.
I don't like that. I like having the option of cutting off my enemies income instead of having to fight a ton of armies.
"Cutting off income" Dwohohohohohohoho
Just about to test this, the 1547 campaign to be exact. It's pretty much the whole world: total war. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=209804 http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=278124 http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/4286/empireschinajapanth3.th.jpg It's for M2TW, by the way.
"Cutting off income" Dwohohohohohohoho
What am i missing here?
Great war mod crashes whenever I do a campaign or battle.
Yeah it's pretty buggy. Honestly, you might want to have a look at some of the other mods on the site. The Great War Mod is pretty bland ATM. Version 5.0 with its shitton of content will propel it leagues ahead of where it is right now.
is it possible to play as all the other countries in napoleon by editing any of the files? also are there any good mods i should know about?
You can pick minor countries using Darthmod, but they don't really have the good units for example France and England has.
What am i missing here?
AI is hardly bound by such silly things as "money" and "recruit time" and "fairness"
AI is hardly bound by such silly things as "money" and "recruit time" and "fairness"
Oh really? I am under the impression they are, because i reduced the English forces from 3 full stacks to 1 and a bit by blocking all trade. I doub't they kindly reduced their numbers so that i could invade them with my 1 province nation.
Sure they might get hurt by it, but they certainly won't be killed by it. AI is known to cheat itself money when it needs it.
Sure they might get hurt by it, but they certainly won't be killed by it. AI is known to cheat itself money when it needs it.
That's the thing, though. I want to be able to financially CRUSH my enemies.
Is there any way to make the camera controls in MTW2 like the controls in Empire? it's so unwieldy
Is there any fix for the slow turns in ETW? I've already ticked the 'show AI moves' box off. It's like 4 minutes from the first turn. I'm running it on a dual core, by the way.
Hold space bar?
Once you play a bit the factions will get thinned out. Usually only takes 10-20 seconds for my turns to pass.
playing as Russia. me, Prussia and Austria were all like bro's. we would help eachother when we were invaded. and I would always help them retake captured territory But then Prussia HAD to invade Austria. Fuck...
That's the thing, though. I want to be able to financially CRUSH my enemies.
That's all well and good, but is there anything more satisfying than hearing an enemy king insult you for the whole game, and then killing him and his entire family with the plague?
Would updating my Win 7 to 64 bit stop my freezing Shogun 2?
You can pick minor countries using Darthmod, but they don't really have the good units for example France and England has.
I took over most of Europe in E:TW playing as the Knights of St. John. Their capital is a small town on a tiny island with only one port, they don't have any special units, they don't get any ships bigger than a 3rd rate, and Britain hates them from the start, but they're worth playing for the bitchin' uniforms and faction flags. Plus I just like playing as non-mainstream factions that I know nothing about. It makes creating an empire with them more interesting. When I play as France, it's "France took over the world," but when I play as minor faction so-and-so, it's more "I took over the world."

Sellouts." Also, I uninstalled Medieval 2: Kingdoms a couple weeks ago to save space and because none of the campaigns were too interesting, and today when I started up Medieval 2 it told me the files were corrupt. I figured it was a mod problem, forgetting I never got any mods for Medieval 2, so I verified the integrity of the game files, expecting 10 or so files and about 50 Mb to download. 711 files, 6 Gb. What the fuck are you doing, Total War?
Hold space bar?
It freezes for about 10 seconds right after every faction. The battles run alright, but the campaign map is terrible. It's kind of silly because I can run shogun 2's campaign map really smoothly.
It freezes for about 10 seconds right after every faction. The battles run alright, but the campaign map is terrible.
The only answer is a more powerful processor, or a smaller campaign map (such as those in Napoleon.)

At least for me anyway. You don't have to manage a bunch of provinces right off the bat and don't have a ton of people who are pissed off at you (unless you're the Barbary States or the Pirates anyway). You get to start out small and work your way up to the top. I have a bad habit of biting off more than I can chew, though. Like when I was playing as the Italian States earlier today and set out to unify the country. I went to war with Genoa and Venice and won without much trouble. But when I went to war with Spain in order to take Naples (and, consequently, the entire southern half of Italy- including Sicily) I got raped. Badly. And so did France, my ally. If you manage to conquer France's one province in Europe (Paris) though you're pretty much set for the rest of the game to enslave the world. In 1700, they have a population of like 24.5 million people, lots of ports and industries, not to mention colleges. You have all the manpower and facilities needed to raise both a very large and sophisticated army and navy, plenty of industries that generate stuff you can trade to bring in loads of money, and can research a wide variety of technologies.
