You can't hear sounds in a vacuum yet you can still hear everything that happens
You can't hear sounds in a vacuum yet you can still hear everything that happens
I think the noise you hear in game is supposed to be simulated by some crap on the ship. Don't quote me on that though.
is EVE Online actually fun? I've read about goonswarm and other such things and it sounds amusing when things like that actually happen, but generally, is it actually fun? I've had people tell me it's just a grindfest and is boring 99% of the time. But then again, I find the idea that you can pretty much do whatever you like rather neat.
It is boring 99% of the time. But the 1% that something fun happens, it is amazing.
buuut its not truuuuue Haloguy farms missions all day erryday in his OP ship.
Then what's fun and not fun about EVE?
Pvp is fun all the time.
The thing is, in MMOs PVP is always secondary for me, especially if there's a risk of loss, I prefer getting 'rich' and such, but would doing so be boring? edit: I am aware that there's pretty much always a risk on EVE
I really am that bored.

In my opinion it only gets boring when you run out of things to do to your ship or things to train for to make running missions more efficient.
In my experience EVE has a lot of down time between doing things which can be pretty dull but something about it keeps me playing. When you get to the action it's usually pretty fun.
Alot of the fun is the buildup leading up to minutes that seem like hours with all that rides on them. To this day, I still get the chills and shakes from close fights, even after playing for years.

If you enjoy the slight metagame-industry aspect, then it'll be fun for you. It's not as clear cut between missions and PVP as it seems either. I, and everyone else here will help you do whatever it you want to do, even if it seems absurd.

You could also spend hours mission running or mining which could be pretty boring.
I sat in jita all day and didn't even get targetted, what the fuck man :\

So Biotic probably put a 150M bounty on me. :v:
So Biotic probably put a 150M bounty on me. :v:
Oh wow, free money. Noice.
So Biotic probably put a 150M bounty on me. :v:
Where you at. I'll pod you and split it 25/75
So Biotic probably put a 150M bounty on me. :v:
All his raging against me and I never got such a present :( What'd you do?
I just went 30 jumps through 0.0 in a "ratting" Moa. I was running sites for a while and eventually got killed when I was scrammed and webbed by rats. Luckily the whole adventure paid off because I made just as much money as the ship cost. You know what they say... Moa scrams moa problems.
2 days of burn jita. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a28/kelmar666/Eve/RC2ns.png I was told over 700 bil stupid imgur

Seeing all the magnificent shit that's happening in EVE right now...granddaddy Ultima Online would've been proud.
I know what you're saying but a star radiating heat and a spaceship radiating heat are two completely different things. The heat which is radiated from something like a star (the thermal energy capable of traversing a vacuum) is not the same type of energy which can be radiated out of a starship's hull. [editline]28th April 2012[/editline] The energy which is radiated from a star hits particles and those particles become excited. That's what causes stuff like planets which have atmospheres to heat up. Thermal radiation does play a role in cooling a ship's hull, but for the most part the effect is miniscule at best because heat is constantly being added to it.
You do realise most of those large panels on space stations are not actually solar panels but in fact radiators? Moron.
Running 0.0 sites in a cruiser? eh?
It was more of a "for fun" kind of thing. I wasn't being serious about it. The Moa did surprisingly well, except for the whole tanking part.
Yeah, I've had trouble tanking a drake for them, but I'm probably just bad. Also yeah, haloguy. Using fancy words doesn't make you right if what you're saying is flat-out wrong.
