Aww I liked the philosopher. He was the easiest to care for dwarf ever! He didn't need a room or anything, never made mandates or demands, he just sat around being mellow and philosophizing n' shit.
you mean drinking
you mean drinking
well duh
What's this about a new version?
What's this about a new version?
http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AT8EQVUjrv96ZGc5cnBwOHZfMjgyY3FzZHFtanA&hl=en I'm surprised you haven't heard of it yet.
The Philosopher has been removed from the new version :saddowns: Who will do all the philosophizing now?
You mean lever pulling, correct? Not philosophizing.
Darn 2001-2002 random thread post count lock crap.
All planned out.
You mean lever pulling, correct? Not philosophizing.
lever pulling is part of his philosophizing
Philosophy sounds like a precursor to pedophilia. Those poor innocent young levers. WONT SOMEONE THINK OF THEM?
Good, the thread closed, now let's continue drooling over the new version.
Well as I was trying to ask as everyone spammed the last thread like a buncha idiots, how can I ensure that a freshly-killed dragon corpse won't rot? Is there a way I can tell the dwarves to take this specific body to a stockpile or something, rather than just waiting for them to get around to it?
I bet we'll go through all 2,001 posts of this thread before the new version comes out. :v:
What a misleading thread title, god damn.
Can it still be changed, so we don't have people showing up for about a month asking where the new version is?
What a misleading thread title, god damn.
I don't understand this. I didn't say "The New Version is Out!" I said "The New Version Thread", e.g. this is the thread that will be active when the new version is released.
this game crashed my pc :(
Get a better PC, Armok Demands you.
Here's a few pictures of one of my current fort and it's intricate construction (also, the fort itself is located inside a obsidian layer) Z layer: -1: http://ace.saxservers.net/stuff/cam/Screenies/Dorf%20Fortress/Dwarf%20Fortress%202010-02-08%2020-14-28-82.png Workshops, Stockpiles and a few farms 0: http://ace.saxservers.net/stuff/cam/Screenies/Dorf%20Fortress/Dwarf%20Fortress%202010-02-08%2020-14-29-89.png Entrance, Trade depot and a barracks 1: http://ace.saxservers.net/stuff/cam/Screenies/Dorf%20Fortress/Dwarf%20Fortress%202010-02-08%2020-14-31-70.png Housing and a legendary dining room with built-in mist generator 2: http://ace.saxservers.net/stuff/cam/Screenies/Dorf%20Fortress/Dwarf%20Fortress%202010-02-08%2020-14-34-22.png Inner workings of the mist generator and a archery range with reduced arrow breakage Edit: Also, add me to the list of people playing
The last post should've been a picture of a dwarf performing a wrestle lock on some creature.

Then the dwarves take the corpse inside from where the butcher automatically butchers the corpse. For some reason they don't always butcher corpses from the outside.
Come on guise lets get this thread locked!!!11 But yeah I really want to play this but I'm being sidetracked by BFBC2 Beta. I'll be sure to see to my forts downfall soon
Try making a refuse stockpile inside, remove all others outside. Then the dwarves take the corpse inside from where the butcher automatically butchers the corpse. Thread title got my hopes up, then smashed them. :saddowns: [editline]12:14PM[/editline] http://afteractionreporter.com/2009/02/09/the-complete-and-utter-newby-tutorial-for-dwarf-fortress-part-1-wtf/ ^ Some guy on the Dwarf Fortress forums just finished his line of tutorials, might wanna add it to the OP. Here's the forum link, that's just the first of the tutorials. http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=31928.0
From old thread: I just started playing DF Adventure mode. Looks awesome, I died 3 times now because I thought it would be smart to approach a Giant. I'm using May Green's tileset but whenever I throw something/batter someone they appear at their destination, no flying like I saw in a video. How do I change this?

so uh, is there a date on the release? Or is it "coming soon" [editline]08:28PM[/editline] also when will rape be added to adventurer
The people flying from being hit, or bolts visible on their path is only in Fortress mode. Adventure mode just has everything instantly land.
Oh that stinks. But this guy (JefMajor aka One F Jef) has it do that. Is there a mod?
Oh that stinks. But this guy (JefMajor aka One F Jef) has it do that. Is there a mod?
Link? I don't think I've ever seen it in Adventurer mode.
also when will rape be added to adventurer
rape is already in my boy. haven't you seen all the humans sleeping in the same bed with children? Haven't you ever 'wrestled' any of those said children? Skimmed through that tutorial I posted earlier, it's actually pretty good, would help out anyone who wants to learn how to play I'd imagine. that's what tutorials are for anyhow.
Thread title. :saddowns:
