• Thoughts on Star wars "The Old Republic" MMO?

At E3 in 2009 the trailer was amazing. This might be the first MMO I ever play.
Wow, looking at that video about the music some of those closing shots were fucking awesome
Instanced shit shouldn't be allowed to call themselves MMO's.
Just watched a lot of trailers, looked at pictures, read up on it etc... I can't wait. I love how it is story based (oh bioware ) and that the combat in instances against bosses wont be 4 dudes hitting the same guy, somewhere they said they are going to make the fights as big and exhilarating as possible.
I have been following this game on their website since they released/launched it. I honestly cannot wait for this game, and will be the palest, most anti-social loser on the planet when this game comes out. The videos that are being shown are already making this game look just amazing. The combat looks fun, the classes look balanced, the game just looks great (graphics and areas). This game will be a must have for StarWars fans, and I believe it could very well be the next WoW (of course it wont be AS popular, b/c not everyone likes starwars)
Saber Hilts still look like Fisher Price made and sold them in Toys R Us I hope they get smaller, but other than that I have no complaints, I like the art style, I know the game will kick some ass since Bioware and Star Wars are like Sex and Food, they're both good but when you combine them Holy Shit it's sweet
wut Seriously, what is it then? A text simulator?
It was an RPG that included player interaction (trading, chatting, etc) - NOT an MMO.
I dont mind Instanced, I loved Guild Wars. And having another 30 Sith running around killing same stuff as me and doing same mission defeats a purpose of a developing character and intriguing storyline.
New development dispatch just arrived. Its about the music of the game. http://swtor.com/media/trailers/music-old-republic
I'm a die-hard Star Wars fan, and the only thing that bugs me about this is that they can't canonically balance Jedis, so they'll probably ruin some of the canon by keeping the game balanced, which is going to irk the hell out of me.
Haha, watch this and you'll see the balance.
Instanced shit shouldn't be allowed to call themselves MMO's.
Yeah, because they're aren't a massive amount of players on that server right :downs:
There's thousands of people playing MW2 at any given moment, that doesn't make it an MMO.
There's thousands of people playing MW2 at any given moment, that doesn't make it an MMO.
They don't play on the same server, now do they. When I played, there were tons of people in a town. [editline]03:57AM[/editline] Maybe not now, but It was and still is marketed as an MMO.

That doesn't make it an MMO. Imagine WoW if you only saw NPCs outside of Dalaran with the small addition of anyone else in your party. It's bullshit and you know it.
honestly shut up and stop arguing over such a trivial point
There's thousands of people playing MW2 at any given moment, that doesn't make it an MMO.
Don't bring that smut into this thread...
Might be a Sith. Through Bounty hunter interests me and it's a hard pick between republic/imperial soldier class. Good thing the plot twist explains that your sith guy doesn't HAVE TO BE IN THE OFFICAL SITH CLUB meaning you can go rogue.
looks very good, and might be my first p2p mmo i ever try. but seriously, comparing the graphics with other mmo's like terra online / blade and soul, it looks a bit drag. then again those wont be released in the same timeline also after playing force unleashed, watching a gameplay trailer of TOR was a bit of a disappointment :S
If You can't pick actual players as a Mission from the Bounty Board for their devious wrongdoings upon other players, then I won't bother playing Bounty Hunter.... That to me is the sweet stuff... Being able to accept a mission, track the target, find out who it is, then stalk them without them able to attack you, or even know you're stalking them, allowing you to choose When and Where to strike.... Kill him after his friendly duel with a friend, kill him while he's out on a mission and all his shit's on Cooldown and his health is low, or have 3 BH friends sitting around chatting in the Cantina as your target walks in and gank him If I can't do that, then Fuck it, I'll just be a Jedi Clone swinging a Glowbat like everyone else
Judging from all those bits by the writers, it's crap like that that they probably keep in mind at all times when making the gameplay for each class. Definately look forward to seeing what unlucky schmucks will be hanging around aboard my smuggler's ship.

Enjoyed the games themselves, and I see how an MMO would come of that. I'm questioning how the combat will work however.
Enjoyed the games themselves, and I see how an MMO would come of that. Idk how the cover system will come into play, when attacking someone in it. Maybe they will auto-uncover when you get in their face as melee? Maybe it they take less damage, like it adds an "armor buff" of sorts. From the videos I've seen it looks like it will work well, and be quite fun.
I'll be on the Sith side in this game. I hope it actually launches next spring and doesn't get pushed back like all other MMO's because I've been waiting for this game since 08.
hopefully there will be a leaderboard for the players that have the biggest bounty on them, that would be cool imo
More likly the ones with higher bounty are pro's who cause choas or just griefers.

I hope that they remember it's an MMO. I don't want to have everything instanced like guild wars, that fucking sucked.
