I always go for paladin-esque classes
Warrior/Tank class. FUCK CAREFUL PLANNING, I HAVE HITPOINTS!
mastermind in CoV is the best class in any MMO [editline]05:31PM[/editline] alltho i usually end up playing the support classes
Ranged DPS/ support[?] DPS [ AKA Mage] Always have loved reaching out and touching someone, and Dragon Age made me realize I like being the asshat who can kill you with their fucking mind.
Dark Templar (starcraft) :3
Stupid invisible pieces of shits
Generally in any sort of RPG I choose Rogue/Thief/Assassin if I have the choice.
Mage
I am a level 80 Paladin. No seriously, Paladins, i like to be able to do damage, tank or heal with my choice. Also stealthy classes like rogues or assassins.
WoW's class system sucks. Look I am a Paladin I can "Tank, Damage, or Heal". Look I am a Priest I can "Tank, Damage, or Heal". Look I am a Shaman I can "Tank, Damage, or Heal". Look I am a Druid I can "Tank, Damage, or Heal". Look I am a Rogue I can "Tank, Damage, or Heal". Look I am a Mage I can "Tank, Damage, or Heal". Whereas other games, their classes have a specific purpose and that is what you do. You pick a healer you heal, you pick a tank you tank, you pick damage you damage.
Whatever class that can wield dual swords
My favourite is Mesmer from Guild Wars. As a mesmer, you choose which actions your enemies can and cannot take. For example: Backfire. For the next 10 seconds, any time the target successfully casts a spell, they take X damage (scales with your skill). It is a very high damage value and it's spike damage too. This means that casting for the next 10 seconds is essentially not happening. 10 seconds is a lot of time in GW... Mesmers have lots of abilities like this and it makes them a priority target (and a valuable asset). They are very difficult to play though, and many people will not enjoy it. However, if you've ever played Magic: The Gathering and fell in love with blue control decks, the Mesmer is right up your alley.
rogue or scoot
No true preference but I'm usually a knight or warrior.
Knights got nothin on pastamancers. :smug: Yes this is a real game; if you've not seen it you have not lived.
Force recon ships for eve, red mage and beastmaster for ffxi. One class MMO's suck :v:

Anything Magic based.
Herald of Xotli was the best class ever created.

Shaman can damage and heal. Druid can tank, damage and heal. Rogue can damage. Mage can damage. You just chose the hybrid classes (and, for some reason, 2 completely non hybrid ones.)
Shaman tanks have been around since Pre-BC. Mages have tanked that one guy in Gruul's lair, forgot the name. Warlocks have tanked Illidan, rogues have tanked before with evasion, etc.
Crafting classes, provided that they can hold their own in combat without losing crafting ability or other gimmicks like doing shit damage unless they use a skill that costs money with each use. Otherwise, Agility/Strength based melee or a Ranged, non magic class.

Have you even played World of Warcraft? Oh and another thing, why would diversity in what a class can do be bad? [editline]08:43PM[/editline]
Shaman tanks have been around since Pre-BC. Mages have tanked that one guy in Gruul's lair, forgot the name. I like Pet classes, Debuffers, and melee DPSers.
I enjoy playing as Tanks Or DPS classes
Hasty interjection: Usually obscure or underpowered classes. Its quite fun, as humans say it "pwning noobs", using technogically superior equipment as well as skills to finish off someone who "power plays" Quick Edit: In the case that all classes are balanced: I usually tend to be a supportive class such as a medic. But in the case of lone wolfing, I will gladly choose a ranged class.
Caster. Something with magic. I'm the born cloth wearing pansy with destructive magic abilities that allow me to run away and cast at a distance.. :P [editline]05:16AM[/editline]
Shaman tanks have been around since Pre-BC. Yes mages can tank ONE boss in gruuls, no other bosses.. That doesn't make mages tanks or warlocks tanks. It makes them a class that can tank that 1 boss... lol. Warriors, paladins, dk's and druids are the only tank classes. Priest, druid, paladin and shaman are the only classes that can heal. Okay, a dk can selfheal alot, that doesnt make him a healer. Warlocks can get bandage .. doesn't make them a healer.
Tanks

There was one rogue who thru talents/gems/raid setup hit the dodge cap and managed to tank a few bosses, and it was hotfixed. The shaman class was supposed to be the hordes version of paladin, and yes it had tanking talents way back, but it hasn't been viable or even an option for years.
Ranger/Hunter/Archer or a Rogue/Assassin
