• How to create Portal 2 maps

I honestly think we should set up a mapping thread in the mapping section , as this isn't really the place for it to be honest

Why can't we just make a thread here with all the maps in it, so the community can access it? In the mapping section, you will lose a lot of willing people to play em. Also subdividing the maps into playground/WIP/test chamber maps would be nice.
You guys would have to make more maps though. I mean, I'm not creating an OP with 2 maps that are just WIPs in it. Once we have, say, 5 worthwile maps, I will make the thread. Then we can leave the map making discussion for this thread, and the map discussion/submission discussion for my thread. Sound good? [editline]24th April 2011[/editline] This is what I'm talking about: You can make your own thread in the mapping section with a link to my thread, and I will make a thread here with all of the maps in it for the community to enjoy with a link to your thread and your wiki.
My. God. The compilers errors I was getting the past few days was for using the NODRAW texture to "paint" the back of my world brushes. While having the "portal2" keyword enabled. Basically, when you have the "portal2" keyword and then you type "nodraw" in the filter, you get a NODRAW-like texture... which is actually called "tools/toolsnodraw_glass_footsteps" which is a translucent material, therefore not valid as a world seal for BSP. Really... If anyone has gone through the same **** as me I hope this post will be useful.

What kind of prop do I need to make something to make it able to be picked up, or at least fall when its dropped? I'm trying to get the potato trophy to fall from a door, and prop_physics doesn't like me
You mean 24 seconds in? Unless you were talking about an infinite fall

So its different if you create it in Alien swarm,or copy it from Valve map.

When I get my hands on the official SDK, the first thing I'm going to do is make more 50s chambers. I, personally, loved the style of them. For now, I'ma just play around.
