i'm probably late to this but if you sprint and hold down space you start bunny hopping and it goes at like twice the speed of the sprint
so wait, are endermen supposed to attack you if you take your reticule off of it? i was kinda hoping for that
so wait, are endermen supposed to attack you if you take your reticule off of it? i was kinda hoping for that
That was my impression. On my server though, they were buggy as fuck.

I went exploring my map. My town is in the top left, where the lit up village is. I explored all the way to the right until i ran out of food.
Now we get three strongholds? That's cool. Not as difficult to find, but still hard. I just hope we'll get some form of surface indication that a stronghold is there. I wouldn't mind getting some ruined surface structures, like an abandoned village. Can vines grow out of no where, or do they require an already existing vine to spread?
I think the new map Generator just generates small islands outside of the main continents see this image source
That is definitely an improvement, but still doesn't look much like real-world geography, obviously. Needs less lakes...
Fun fact: The red spotted mushroom resembles the Amanita muscaria, more commonly known as the fly agaric, which is a psychoactive and poisonous mushroom. The brown mushroom resembles the Boletus edulis, which is a delicacy in many countries. In survival test, eating a red mushroom would hurt you for one and a half heart.
Ate one of those in Snake Eater. I think I killed Snake because I didn't treat him.
Built a bit more of my modern stronghold.
Since we're showing off bases: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/j6mZs.png[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/UusEd.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/S05hX.png[/img_thumb] Not real happy with the roof, but I couldn't do much with it because the height limit cut it off.
Even further reason why there needs to be some bloody battle music in Minecraft. Like what you'd get in Legend of Zelda. Or heck, the music could be more intense based on the number of mobs after you.
When you piss off a whole army of skags in Borderlands, this plays.
That is definitely an improvement, but still doesn't look much like real-world geography, obviously. Besides, if it looked like the real world it would be pretty boring, with this generator it looks realistic enough while providing enough interesting features. I don't think they should make any more major tweaks, at least for a while. [editline]12th September 2011[/editline] One thing I do think though is that deserts could be larger, I mean they're bigger now but I would love for them to be absolutely huge. Maybe thats just me. Same goes for snow biomes but they appear to be missing in this prerelease.
They should definitely be bigger, as seen from that map, desert biomes kind of like wheat fields as seen from an airplane :v:
There should be atleast one desert the size of the new oceans on each map with oases instead of islands.
Adding hunger has definitely made it harder to play, i'm constantly worrying about finding pigs or growing wheat.
Once you get watermelon, you never have to worry about anything ever again.
Watermelons are awesome, they're easy to grow and last forever.
Watermelons are awesome, they're easy to grow and last forever.
They just replenish so little hunger. Just 1 hunger per melon slice. I feel like it's easier to just explore mineshafts and get bread half the time.
Is it just me or are ghasts really easy to kill now? I just killed one with a single arrow.
I feel Minecraft has come a lot closer to being complete. Hunger feels necessary. More food options help make it feel more natural too since we finally get meat from (almost) everything we kill. Leather has become more readily available so now I feel the need to make leather armor more often. Lighting looks beautiful though still needs some work. For instance I don't like how the torches start off white and then go yellow/redish in distance and fade back out. I feel they should always be yellow/red. I just wish that trees didn't mystically float in the air. I really want a terraria wood chopping system. It just feels silly.
Dyes should be able to be used on torches to make colored torches.
Is it just me or are ghasts really easy to kill now? I just killed one with a single arrow.
Yeah, the nether has became my personal playground and/or shooting range ever since the bow and arrow got more powerful. I'm pretty much getting my main source of food there harassing the zombie pigmen. Once you get to the point where you can access the nether, you'll never starve again. Unless you suck at fighting the zombie pigmen.
Something I've started doing lately for some reason: There's a hole or gap and you don't know what's in there? Say "Leave it to fate," and jump. Just did this and ended up in a small dungeon that had flooded. I'm surprised Fate hasn't killed me yet.
With the new oceans, you know what we're going to need right? Bigger boats. And I mean like big ass ships.
I guess its just me that is running out of memory within 10 mins in the 1,8 pre release...
A skeleton accidentally hit an enderman with an arrow. The enderman proceeded to chase the skeleton and kill it.
oh my god can someone help me trying to find out how that fucking chicken got down there, there is nothign nearby leading straight to the suraface, just normal caves. [editline]11th September 2011[/editline] best chicken ever.
You what would be weird. If chickens were always/have always been pointing us to diamonds.
I guess its just me that is running out of memory within 10 mins in the 1,8 pre release...
Use the 64bit version of java?
Yeah, the new bow mechanics and the other additions to fighting have made fighting/hunting mobs really easy. Ghasts used to put the fear of god into me, now I fight 2 or 3 at time without a problem.
You what would be weird. If chickens were always/have always been pointing us to diamonds.
"Hey, Theres diamonds over here. I'll just lay a row of eggs towards it. I hope you don't kill me for my meat again."
