Isn't there a guy that works with valve that can confirm this on this forum?
You're all too optimistic. If this was from Valve, they would do it via a game update. It's a random youtube video, how did you even come to believe it?
Isn't there a guy that works with valve that can confirm this on this forum?
If anyone from Valve were to confirm anything about this, it would be them saying that this has nothing to do with them. If this is Valve related, they will keep their mouths shut. And if they do keep their mouths shut, then we know it's from them.

There's this thing called Source SDK and Hammer. Anyone could have made this map. If it was really Valve it would have been found in the TF2 gcf or something.

All I am thinking right now is "please, please, please, please, please let it be"
Indeed. The Portal 2 ARG was awesome, I'd love to have another Valve ARG. Makes it all the more disappointing if it were a troll/fake or for some mod, though.
wait, if it actually is Valve, and not E3 but a different horror game then we're all fucked
If it weren't for the fact that one of the videos (the screamer one) is in the source engine I'd suspect this of being an ARG for Cry Of Fear (aka Afraid of Monsters 2 :v:)
AoM and Cry of Fear are two different stories, the fuck are you talking about AoM 2?
what does "ARG" stand for?
AoM and Cry of Fear are two different stories, the fuck are you talking about AoM 2?
he's saying that afraid of monsters and cry of fear are similar because they are both horror mods and are both directed by the same person duh
what does "ARG" stand for?
Alternate Reality Game.
Leveraged/Kolya finished his website project thing a few days ago, possibly related to that.
Lookin like bullshit, but nonetheless... QR code, anyone?

It's a standard HL2 texture, been around forever. It would've been interesting if they'd combined the normal tile texture and this variant with missing tiles to ''draw'' a QR code on the floor of the map, though. EDIT: then again, the pattern seems to be different here from the actual texture. Let me load up Hammer and check, maybe I'm just going crazy from the screamer. EDIT2: Compare the map to this screencap I took in Hammer. It's not a QR code, it's just how the texture is.
Some folks from the /v/ thread checked. They said it's not a QR, but rather a stock texture from EP2
Very well done and put together, but definitely not Valve. I'm sure the SPUF moderator wouldn't have squashed the rumor if it was actually real, because less people would play. Either way this is a very, very well done ARG. And you know, this could be for Black Mesa Source: especially since the poster's one code hinted to Gordon.
I'm not sure this is an actual Valve ARG, but why would volunteer moderators on SPUF know anything about this being official? It's not like they're Valve employees.

I think the Gordon code was a troll though.
i can't really see what this will be about. none of the content so far, save for the map's file type, is reminescent of half-life or portal or whatever IP valve has. it might be a mod, but if it was a new franchies from valve it would be nice.
If Valve wanted to do another ARG, I highly doubt they would upload a map to Megaupload.
If Valve wanted to do another ARG, I highly doubt they would upload a map to Megaupload.
They would host it on some obscure website that they made up.
Oh boy, an ARG! I'm guessing it's nothing to do with Valve though, just a hunch. Still, it seems to be pretty well made, the videos are really creepy.
He is a Volunteer moderator, which means he is not actually related to Valve. There is no way he would know.
If Valve wanted to do another ARG, I highly doubt they would upload a map to Megaupload.
That's what they want you to think ;3
He is a Volunteer moderator, which means he is not actually related to Valve. There is no way he would know.
But Valve most likely communicates with the moderators, especially if they feel like something big which is going to dominate forum-discussions is coming. I'm positive the volunteers knew that the Potato ARG was coming, for instance. Same with doves.

They don't need to be told that sort of stuff - unless it's been confirmed it's Valve (definate proof) they will just assume it's fan made.

Again, I don't think someone would come out and say "Yep, this is fan-made" unless they knew for sure it was. [editline]25th July 2011[/editline] Also, just the fact that Valve always does their ARG through game updates, their own URLs, and Steam suggest that this really couldn't be Valve's doing.
