well my brother works on the same internet connection like me. i recently made a server, i wanted to let my bro join but it always said "cant connect to the server". that doesent happen to guests, ive had guests already. can someone please help me and my bro?
Try getting him to type "localhost" without quotes in the IP box.
where in the ip box? im running my server with mcforge(yea classic server)
Where ever you type in the address, have your brother type in "localhost", without the quotes.
It might be an issue on the way minecraft handles sockets, if that dosent work.
ok thanks guys i got it working now
ok thanks guys i got it working now
What ended up fixing your issue, doing the localhost suggestion?
Localhost shouldn't work as the server is not on the computer of the brother right?
But they're on the same local area network.
Localhost is 127.0.0.1 not 192.168.2.1 (or whatever the router ip is).

This tut is an old method to get multiple people playing on your lan, what the OP wants is his brother joining on lan and other people online.

If you forward the port the servers using you should be able to connect to the server via it's external IP
